>>The STAINLESS STEEL TUBE tiller<<
That's mild for you, Fred, my plan to wind you up backfired - congrats and apologies.

>>How do you mount your autohelm?<<
The unit mounting socket is sunk into the starboard locker lid where the tiller arches up to the level of the locker top and the unit is horizontal when located on the tiller pin. The pin is set directly into the wood of the tiller.

As I am now convinced that, because I installed the pin where the tiller, at its normal helming attitude, was level with the seating, that it ended up too far forward. I was happy with that because it works so well under power.

No, the bracket you have is not standard but, I suspect, probably should be on a T500 to conform to the 18" rule. I am now wondering that, if I move the pin aft and cant the tiller up when activating the Autohelm, will the push rod still remain engaged on the pin when it does not bear down vertically on it but at an angle (the rod rotates and so will still engage).

I would like to avoid a bracket to be catching on things - my wife and I are often au naturel when underway (the advantage of a Mediterranean climate) - the consequences could be severe ;-)

Best,

Brian.
