Seeing this was getting rather off-topic in the "Warwick Venue" thread...

I've never heard it called "american cha", though 2 years ago in Florida they had "Jack & Jill" competitions, which sound very similar. One of the more amusing aspects there was that you weren't warned in advance what the dances were going to be, it ranged from the normal waltz/cha/.. to Paso Doble, Polka and Lambada... very amusing :-).

I like having one or two different/ligh-hearted events around... at the moment i would count towards this:
- Warwick 4-dance
- Sheffield KO
- Manchester Same-Sex Rumba etc.
- Southern Friendly "American Cha"
- last years Inter-University event at Oxford
- occaonsional random Salsa-evet

I could add R&R and Off-beat, but i won't before I get my throat slit for suggesting it's not "serious"...

Have i missed any?

Robin

PS Alice, do you know if there are any plans for an alternative southern friendly/unfriendly/whatever this year ...?
