Subject: I disagree that the basic American citizen has become nothing more than sheep. Generalizing about an entire nation of people seems grossly unfair to me. It's like saying all gays are swishy or all blondes are dumb.

Most people in America want answers to every item on your list - they want solutions and the Democrats can't offer one alternative. The Democrats dont even have a plan.

Bush has a plan for everything and he promises exactyly whatever people want to hear. He never stopped campaigning. He has been spouting out campaign rhetoric since he got elected and he's still running for office. Meanwhile the Democrats sit around and watch from the sidelines and once in a while, they attack and criticize, but when pressed for their OWN alternative plan, they have nothing to say. It's pathetic. So of course people are going to trust someone who as least pretends to have a clue and not people who can only criticize but not offer any better solution. Because the Democrats can't offer solutions, the public believes all the things that have happened to our economy, the war, etc are mostly because of 9-11. They don't think the economy is Bush's fault. They don't think the deficit is Bush's fault, because no one on TV or in the headlines of national papers is reporting that it is Bush's fault. You have a few op ed pieces from people who are for the main part, liberals. You have a few people on political shows that argue pro and con, like they do about anything and everything, so why would the public pay any attention to anything they have to say?

When President Clinton got his dick sucked, it made headlines for YEARS. It still makes headlines.

You have people on TV today - federal prosecutors or whoever they are -representing the US government and they're SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER because they says martha stweart LIED!! Yes, by God, this woman LIED and she must be punished. This guy actually came out and said (her) "lying will NOT BE TOLERATED BY ANYONE!"

Yet the President of the United States stood up there for MONTHS and lied out his ass about WMD and bullied this country into going to war

AND WHERE IS THE NEWS COVERAGE OF THAT????????????

IT'S NON EXISTANT IN THIS COUNTRY. THAT'S WHERE IT IS.

They show 24/7 coverage of a woman accused of lying about a stock deal but let this president destroy our country in more ways than we can even fathom, and the headlines are about Martha Stewart.

Blaming the average person on the street for not knowing whats going on with the war or whether the information President Bush gives in his speeches is correct or not isn't fair to the public, if no one in the media ever reports on it the way they report whatever propoganda is being put out by the administration. If real alternative information is not availble on TV, Radio, or in the hometown daily papers (unless you actively SEARCH for it) that's NOT the American public being apathetic or becoming sheep imho.

The public is not psychic and most of them are far too overextended, raising a family, going to school, working one or two jobs and trying to live their day to day lives. Not many people have much time left over to have any interest in reading indie media news on a computer.

If basic information isn't available for mass consumption, how are they supposed to know what is really going on?

They can't imho.

Let someone in the Democrat party stand up and have some balls and actually know what the hell to do to make this country better. Pointing out flaws with the Bush administration without offering a solution isn't going to do it. It just makes democrats and liberals look like losers. It comes across as sour grapes and monday morning quarterbacking to most people unless someone can say, "Here's what we need to do."

When you have people like Michael Moore, etc standing up there speaking out - and the news media ridicules them, opening makes jokes about them, why would the general public give their words any credence? After all, these people are actors, entertainers.

Most people would put more stock into colin powell's opinion than they would a singer or an actor. It's all well and good for someone like Natalie Maines to get up and give her personal opinion, but is she really all that informed on current affairs and matters of national security? Do you see what I'm saying?

I don't agree with your low opinion of our fellow citizens at all. The American Public needs LEADERS with ideas and solutions who will expose the truth and stand for something - not just a few entertainers.

The American people need media that reports the real news.

Watch Marth Stewart. She's not lying down and letting the Bush Administration just roll over her. As soon as they indicted her, she stepped up. She took control of the situation and she's on the offensive, speaking her mind, and guilty or not, she knows how to reach the American public with her own side of the story. She knows how to sway public opinion. She knows how to get the public to listen and support her.

If some of our Democrat leaders had half the brains and balls of someone like her, this country wouldn't be in the mess it's in.

If we had a politician who could speak like harry belefonte, we wouldnt be in this mess.

If we had a politician with a fraction of the outrage of michael moore, we wouldnt be in the mess.

But untill we get a credible politician who does, look for more of the same.

It's not the public - they're waiting to hear something - anything. But when the Democrats look exactly like the Republicans only more insecure, defensive, and indecisive, why vote for them or even more important - why vote at all?
(and I am not speaking for myself or literally encouraging people not to vote.)

That's where the American public is right now imho. Even gay voters who have more at stake than practically any other voting bloc can't unamiously support the Democrat Party because the Democrats also say one thing and do another when it comes to gay rights. The last Democrat President gave us don't ask, don't tell.

And you know my feeling about this. You know, that I find gay republicans an oxymoron kinda like saying jumbo shrimp. HAHA.

I'm not saying that Republicans and Democrats are no different when it comes to gay rights issues because it's one of the few things in which they do have a real and clear difference. I'm just stating my opinion in general about why I think no one really cares much about voting including gays.

And please don't think I am argueing or being hateful or attacking anyone.

I love debate and this is just a friendly discussion and everyone is free to say whatever you think is going on.

I'm not an expert. I'd like to read other people's opinions on this.

I AM damn frustrated that we're stuck with this administration and I'm convinced, that baring a miracle, we'll have another 4 years of it after 2004 and that really upsets me.

But I don't blame the American people for it. I blame the media and the Democrats.
