That's the honest truth, dude. It's hard to explain, but I am sooooo connected to every word that I write that there's almost zero separation from my very soul and the words on the screen. It's a part of my DNA. And sometimes, I change random little things just seconds before I post them here on the site.
Like, I can't....ugh! Editors are using an entirely different hemisphere of the brain to correct stuff. They're analyzing the words instead of just feeling them, you know? Sometimes, characters like Ariel or Tristan or Taryn may say something that's grammatically incorrect or a little weird...but as a character, that's how they would think to say it. Does that make sense?
I guess what I'm saying is...the things that most editors are trying to correct or adjust ends up being the heart and the unique personality of the character itself. That...and the fact that I'm constantly changing things at the last minute. Hehehe, tiny little things. But I want what I want and I don't want to have to explain it to anybody. Like...I want this done MY way. Point blank, period. And I'm sure that most editors would want me dead after dealing with me for more than a week or two. LOL! I'd rather save them from insanity and frustration by leaving them alone.
I think I would come off as a jerk. Like..."this is exactly how I want it." And they'd say, "But it would be better or make more sense to do it 'this' way instead." And I would say, "Yeah, I'm not trying to hear that. Do what I asked you to do, and don't offer me any more suggestions. This is a personal representation of me, it digs deep, and this is how I want it done. So please...just do what I say, or get out of the way and let me do it myself." Hehehe, yeah, I'd be a HORRIBLE person to work with in that capacity. I'd end up being ashamed of myself in the end. :P
