Subject: This discussion has made me wonder which era I'd rather grow up in...

I suppose ultimately, I'd choose the era I grew up in because I survived it once, and I'm familiar with it.

However, would it have been cool with all the modern gadgets kids have today? Or, would it be cool if I'd grown up a generation before, when (imo) better music and better movies were being made, and Neil Armstrong walked on the moon?

Then again, I'm glad I missed out on the school canning system and much more rigid attitudes towards individualism. These days, no one thinks much if you're in your 40s and you're unmarried and don't have kids. It's just a choice. But for my parents, it was expected of them.

Similarly, growing up today, never being able to just "switch off" when you get home, from school or being out with friends, because they're in your pocket, pinging you. And school bullies follow you around just the same. I feel sorry for them. It gives me a headache just thinking about it.

I think I live a pretty quiet life compared to most people. I have some social media things (Reddit/youtube etc) I keep an eye on, and a couple of people message me occasionally on whatsapp, but that's about it.

Some people have chat groups, and have dozens of people in their social bubble. I haven't had that for decades, thankfully.
