I'm not the biggest Zombie movie fan myself, though I did see the original.

I actually had a good time watching that.
The sequel was pretty mid. But the new one is as much fantasy as it is horror. And the main character is a 12-year-old called Spikey, who's on his first trip off a small British island (it's a post-apocalyptic world), to visit the main land. And we follow it through his eyes as he tries to find the one doctor left who might be able to help his sick mum.
