Subject: RIP Rob Reiner and his wife. What a tragedy.

Two of my favourite films growing up, couldn't really have been more different, except that they were written by the same author (Steven King), and directed by the same director, Rob Reiner.

I'm talking about Misery, and Stand By Me.

Stand By Me makes me reminiscent for an era and a country I didn't even grow up in, that's how universal the cast and crew, led by Reiner, had managed to make that sweet coming-of-age movie.

It's one of the few movies I've watched more times than I can remember.

Misery is another movie, I have watched at least half a dozen times, and, this might be blasphemous to say, but it's one of the few movies I prefer to the book. Although the book is damn good. But Cathy Bates is just incredible as Annie Wilkes. One of the best horror villains, period. She takes it from an 8 to a 10, for me.

There's a lot to be said about Rob Reiner the man too. He was a truly decent human being, which is how came across in some of his interviews, when he's discussed various things, like themes in his movies, and also the divisiveness going on in society at the moment.
