Subject: Maybe I was just cranky or did Castle seem a little plot light last night. I was rather disappointed in the episode. Except with Alexis. I thought that arc could have been covered more deeply. They have to get rid of that new captain, I don't like her at all. I thought she would grow on me, but she's not and bringing down the show. I'll watch it again to see how I feel a second time around. Jenks?

agree....Castle is missing it's "light touch"... the
whimsical Castle...the sparkle.....

[> Agree, the new captain brings NOTHING to the show. Terrible casting. The show seems to be drifting away from the 'thing' between C&B. Bones did the same thing. Totally neutral episodes, neither here nor there, not great not bad - just to keep away from the 'ship'. -- BT, 13:26:41 10/04/11 Tue [1]

[> I like the new captain, and the dynamic she brings. That said, this episode didnīt convince me, either. There were a few nice lines, but the plot...no, didnīt like it. I, too, would have liked to see a bit more of Alexis. I have high hopes for next week, letīs hope they get their groove back! -- Jam, 18:30:43 10/04/11 Tue [1]

I don't think the problem with the new boss is with the casting, it's with the way they are writing her. TPTB wanted to create some conflict in the office (everyone got along too well with the old captain). This sounds familiar, doesn't it? (Chegwiddon vs Cresswell) I am holding out hope that she eventually warms up to everyone.

As for the ship, he's backing away because she practically told him she wasn't ready. But I don't think the ship is missing at all. Last week he made a flirty comment about her being in skimpy clothes, and there was definitely something going through their heads when they were watching the couple kiss at the end of the ep last week. Then last night they shared another meaningful look when they had that discussion about love after the lady committed suicide to be with her husband.

Last night's ep wasn't the strongest, but it was still way better than a lot of the stuff that is on TV these days!

[> [> I agree, JJ! I am quite enjoying how they are currently advancing the ship! Not only the lingering glances like JJ mentioned, but Beckett practically told Castle to wait for her in the season opener! She was honest with him saying that she can't have the relationship she wants *yet* and why, and he answers by saying, ok then let's get that hindrance out of the way! That was a "please wait for me" if ever I heard one! I loved that conversation, wow! Shipper happiness for me! :-) -- Colie, 21:41:34 10/04/11 Tue [1]

[> [> I'm with you too, JJ. I'm perfectly willing to wait, for the intensity and the fireworks, sometimes the journey is as much fun as the destination. I thought last night was fun and to tell the truth, light is just what the doctor ordered for me. LOL. Although....I really could do without the "sir" instead of ma'am, for the captain. I agree that I'd like her better if the wrote her a bit differently, but shes new, characters evolve and thats fine with me. -- mkim I really kind of resent that the captain sees being a "ma'am" as a step down, or so it seems., 00:12:53 10/05/11 Wed [1]

[> Guys, let us all remember one essential fact of network television: They build the arc in sweep months. Everything else is filler. Not that they can't do fun, worthy episodes. It's just that the eps they are doing now have to be able to fit in pretty much anywhere on the timeline of the season without being too jarring when they are run out of sequence. In fact, other than the Alexis / Ashley / Stanford angle, last night's ep could've been from anywhere - and could fit in anywhere. Maybe it was a little light, but give them a chance. Nov sweeps are right around the corner. -- Dancer, 01:56:16 10/05/11 Wed [1]

[> I enjoyed the ep and didn't find it dark, except for the darker lighting. Parts of the episode were fun - the headless one. The new captain seems to be playing it so straight that it comes off as funny (as in humor). Some of the lines just struck me so funny. I could have done with more shipper but there were bits. This is only episode 3 of the season - there's time yet ....I imagine the Alexis/Stanford rejection will play out. -- jan, 07:11:36 10/05/11 Wed [1]

[> I wouldn't say it was the best episode I ever saw, and I really don't like the new boss, but I'll be hanging in to see where they are going with Cas/Beck. I also liked the Alexis quandry because I know it can happen and she wanted this so badly. Father's words to her were really so well said. -- jenks, 08:37:14 10/05/11 Wed [1]

[> LOL! Oh I'm in it for the long haul. I'm a Becket and Castle Shipper. But, I watched it a second time and still didn't care for parts of it. But, It's early yet and I'm sure we will have plenty of excellent episodes. I just don't find that captain funny in anyway. I guess Dancer hit it right on the head. -- Cathy F., 00:59:07 10/06/11 Thu [1]

[> I love this show. Every episode gives us a little more of their relationship. Last night they talked about future love. I really like how you have to read between the lines but it is all right there. It isnt blatant and in your face but remember the Castle and Beckett we had the first 2 seasons. Rewatch it again and look for all the hidden meanings. BTW Bechett asking Castle if she NEEDED implants was hilarious. LOL -- TF, 14:11:14 10/06/11 Thu [1]
