Author: Cece
Subject: Casablance is perfect as it is. However, it is sad to think of Rick alone for the rest of his life. (My version of a fantasy sequel inside.)

The war is over. Victor Laslo has a brief illness and dies peacefully in Ilsa's arms. Through her grief, Ilsa is glad that she stayed with Laslo, and supported him in his resistance actions. He had been a brave and good man and she loved him for who he was. For a few years, she lives alone in Perpingon,( a border town between France and Spain, always longing for the man she had left behind in Morocco.

Meanwhile, Rick has moved back to Paris but remains alone, except for the company of Sam. Sam has saved his money and gets Rick to open another bar with him. He thinks it will fo Rick good. They call it Rick's Café Américain for old time's sake. When Rick hears of Laslo's death, he wonders what has happened to Ilsa. But he never tries to seek her out.
............

Her loneliness becoming unbearable, Ilsa herself decides to go back to Paris. But her sadness and pain is exacerbated by the sights and sounds of the city, and she feels she can never be happy. After being in Paris for two months, she goes for a walk in the artist area of the Left Bank where she is shocked to see Rick's Café Américain. She believes it is a coincidence, but she can not resist going inside.

When She sees Rick sitting at the bar, she can barely catch her breath. A part of her is terrified that he is married or has lost interest in her. Before she can go up to him, he turns and sees her. They walk tentatively towards each other, and then suddenly they are in each other's arms. The movie ends with their passionate kiss, with of course, As Time Goes By playing as the credits go up.

The actors HAVE to have been an aging Bogie and Bergman. No substitues allowed in my version.

[> [> [> [> Yes Isabella could play Ilsa. But Ingrid had an mysterious, enigmatic beauty that Isabella doesn't have. I can't think of any actress, living or dead, who could play Ingrid Bergamn, or any actor like Bogie. -- Cece, 15:14:57 04/05/13 Fri [1]

[> [> [> [> What was it about Bogie? Anyone have any ideas? If he'd been acting today, would he have been a character actor instead of the star? He certainly isn't a pretty boy like Clooney, Pitt, and dozens of others. -- Cece, 18:03:41 04/05/13 Fri [1]
