These three guys remind me so much of the Three Tenors, although I can't decide which one is Placido Domingo and which one is Jose Carreras. LOL The Hispanic guy is obviously (dare I say it?) filling the Pavarotti role. He has such a unique brightness in his tone that I couldn't help but think of Pavarotti's distinctive voice.

I am curious to know what kind of training they have had, because they each sound like they have had some. Paul Potts had a great voice, but he was unpolished. These guys sound like they each have had years of practice. The amazing thing to me is that they met online and "threw this together" at the last minute.

No doubt they could be successful on their own or combined.

And I love what he said about them being like a joke intro: "A Hispanic, a Korean, and a New Yorker walk into a bar..." LOL Perhaps we should change it to "walk into an online chatroom"...

[> [> How coincidental! I was just listening to Potts vs. Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma earlier this evening because it is being included (instrumentally) in my kids' marching band show this fall. -- The Chief (oh and Potts doesn't come near Pavarotti, of course! But for comparison, it's a worthwhile exercise), 00:52:41 07/09/13 Tue [1]

[> [> [> Oh gosh no contest! I love Pavarotti, though he was by no means my only fave. There are just too many great singers to have to listen to PP, though I did like his back story. I've listened to Nessun Dorma all my life, but I'm afraid it could become hackneyed because of overexposure. It is such a beautiful, emotional piece. (inside) -- Cece, 01:41:32 07/09/13 Tue [1]

Did you know that Turandot was Puccini's last opera. He died before it was finished. It was supposed to have a tragic ending, but when he died, the opera was given a happy ending with everyone singing Nessun Dorma again. The famed conductor, Arturo Toscanini conducted the first performance, but stopped before the "new" ending, saying, "Here the opera ends, because at this point the maestro died."

I'd love to hear your band playing ND. I hope you record it, and maybe I will get to hear it.

[> [> [> [> When things start to gel (about September) there will be something on YouTube. We have a kid who plays electric guitar who is doing the Jeff Beck version for us with the band behind him. The entire show is "A Night at the Opera with Queen", a mix of operatic standards and several Queen songs. It's gonna be pretty awesome! -- The Chief (and the only reason I was listening to the two PP and LP was because I happend on an "about.com" page that had several links to various artists performing it.), 20:09:53 07/09/13 Tue [1]

[> [> Oh I agree that the Puerto Rican guy's voice was very much like Pavarotti's. I'd say the New Yorker was the most like my lovely Placido. I'm not sure but I think the Korean guy had the weakest voice, as did Jose Carreras. Still fab though. I'd love to hear what Forte does next. They do sound ready to go, so to speak. I'm thinking that they might very well be in local opera groups. Now, maybe, they'll get the break they need. Yeah, I too like the joke. It fit so well....LOL. Thanks JJ for your input. -- Cece, 01:49:02 07/09/13 Tue [1]
