Hi everyone. Sorry, I haven't been back to the board since I made the comment about CB. Let me just clarify a couple of things, (Inside.)
In reply to:
Janelle
's message, "For all of you posters who stated below that CB has had plastic surgery-Shame on you!!!!!!!" on 17:32:21 01/14/13 Mon
First of all, everyone has the right to do what they want with their bodies, and plastic surgery is not against the law nor anything to be ashamed of. Second, when famous people, who rely primarily on their looks to get fans, (posing and being seen in public, sometimes in skimpy overtly sexual outfits, enhancing their breasts, etc), they can not expect that all of the public will love the effect. I don't dislike CB. I don't know her to make a judgement about her character, but from what I hear, she is really nice.
I actually have a great deal of respect for those wonderful plastic surgeons who improve the lives of burn victims, or do much needed reconstructive surgery on children born with severe facial and bodily deformities etc.
But when unnecessary plastic surgery is performed regularly on people who are already beautiful, it sends out the wrong message to thousands of ordinary people, particularly uncertain teenagers who more and more are having boob jobs, nose jobs, collagen etc at early ages. They want to attain unnatural ideals because they see the stars dissatisfied with what seems to them, to be perfection. The look that so many famous people affect, makes them look as real as avitars, and the problem is, it's permanent.
Michael Jackson was the extreme, but more and more Hollywood types are getting close to that extreme. What happens is that actors feel they have to have the work done, or they will appear....oh horrors, old and that to them and many members of the public, is the equivelent to being unattractive and even ugly. And what does that do to the rest of us?
I am not being mean about CB. It is obvious to me that she has had work done and if she has, how is my noticing it being mean? She is certainly not the only one. I am not a fan, per se, of anyone. I enjoy and admire good acting. But I find that "look" distracting and unpleasant. Other people find that naturally unattainable look, beautiful. That to me is sad. I find beauty in naturally aging faces, faces that show character, and life's experiences. The plastic look is just not for me. As I said before, I am not against a bit of work that is subtle, but I am always disappointed when I see that an actor who has natural beauty, has altered their face permanently and in obvious ways. So I don't look at their work anymore. That's my right. And by pointing out the obvious, well isn't that what the famous people want? To be noticed?
I am not criticizing people for their weight, age, wrinkles, or jowels, or facial deformities. I am just not on board with the choices some actors make to alter their bodies. Their choice, done precisely so they can stay in the public eye. Well I am part of the public eye, and I choose not to look. They crave and accept the adulation. They have to accept that their plastic look is not universally admired.
Oh, and I too, am amazed that anyone would actually ask CB if she's had work done. I'm finding that scenario not credible.
One more thing. I've said this before about similar comments made a few years ago by another long time poster. I've been on this board since it's inception. In fact, I was one of the creators. The people on the HB boards know each other, I consider this community as comprised of old, (as well as many new) friends, and as adults, we can have differences of opinion without bashing each other.

Agree Cece. -- TF, 10:06:16 01/18/13 Fri [1]
Brava. I didn't see anyone bashing CB. It isn't a sin to notice obvious changes. BTW Botox is not plastic surgery persay but it falls under the same umbrella-ella-ella. I've always considered myself a fan of CB and as a fan you tend to notice glaring changes. I mean frozen upper lip and forehead that doesn't wrinkle during crying scenes points to some chemical enhancements. People who deny the obvious would make one assume they are ashamed of what they'd done. Who cares. If she or anyone else did it then why lie about it. Is it anyones business? No. But don't treat your fans like idiots either. People have eyes and if they have followed your careerfrom the beginning they know what you looked like. JMHO of course.

I agree, Cece. Thank you for your comments. I too am amazed that someone would actually ask CB about having work done and then publishing her comments in a public forum. No one is bashing CB. We used to go through this a lot during the series to the point that any comment about CB was jumped on by lurkers as bashing her. I hope that isn't starting up again. Our posters on the boards have differing views about all kinds of topics and although I may not agree with some of those views, I respect their right to post them without being labeled as "bashing". -- Araninda, 11:58:48 01/18/13 Fri [1]

Having been around as long as CC and also as a founding member and moderator.... -- The Chief, 14:31:41 01/22/13 Tue [1]
I do agree with everything CC said. Anyone who has watched the series from "We the People", knows that CB HAS had breast enhancement. She went up two sizes and it was pretty obvious. Notthatthere'sanythingwrongwiththat.
And why would she admit to a fan (someone she doesn't even know) that she HAS had work done, knowing the climate for that type of information online and in publication. She doesn't know that the asker isn't a writer for the National Enquirer. She's not going to divulge that unless she wants to.

Hey Chief, you've been around longer than I have! (inside) -- Rapidly aging Cece, 19:58:31 01/22/13 Tue [1]
I find the reaction to my post quite odd. If I felt it necessary to support CB, (which I don't),I wouldn't have so vehemently denied the work she's had done as if there was something wrong with it. I would have said "Of course she's had work, and she looks wonderful. Plastic surgery helps people look healthy and youthful, and isn't that better than looking like something the cat dragged in? Isn't that what most of us aspire to, to look as attractive as possible, which is why we have fresh modern hairstyles, expensive makeup, flattering clothing, teeth capping, manicures and pedicures, push-up bras, and tummy flatteners etc? In 20 yrs time, we will all look this way, and we'll look back at old pictures and say, Wow, everyone looked so OLD back in the day. I love the plastic look, and CB, you go girl!"
See, I can argue either way, and there is truth to all of the above. Which is what scares me. But make up, clothes, and new hair dos, don't make us look as if we are from Planet Plastic, or made by Mattel. It worries me that in the near future, we'll all feel compelled to go under the knife, or risk looking like Mathuselah. I like looking at What Not to Wear, because Stacey and Clinton bring out the natural beauty of participants, regardless of their weight or physical attributes. Big or small, old or young, they all end up looking fresh and confidant, without knife, botox, fillers, implants, or collogen in sight.

Cece, I agree with what you said... -- doc, 11:34:48 01/24/13 Thu [1]
So many in Hollywood have a natural beauty when they start out. That & talent (even more) is what leads to their success. The artificial faces we are seeing among the stars is grotesque to me. The noses are so narrow, I can't image normal breathing function over the long haul. Their cheeks look like someone implanted a plum under their eyes. The chins are pushed forward, they are in perpetual state of surprise, & their mouths & foreheads barely move. Each of these attributes, with the exception of the botox look, occur naturally, but when God creates a face, He doesn't include ALL those attributes on ONE face. He uses balance & symmetry to make the face look interesting & beautiful.
I hate to see these faces in 10-20-30 years, when their skin starts to sag. They'll have shallow indents surrounding spherical shapes. They'll look worse than some of the space aliens at the movie theater! I also agree that it sends out a terrible message to the children & young people in our society. The kids are told they need to be stick thin (anorexic), blonde/red/brunette (hair color of the season) & have all these weird facial features to be "BEAUTIFUL," when that couldn't be further from the truth. When I look at some of the actresses out there, I hardly recognize them anymore. For example, Meg Ryan used to be that adorable girl next door. I loved her in virtually everything she was in! Then she had "the" plastic surgery, the one that makes all the actress look nearly identical (i.e. the Joker face), and I no longer find her the least bit attractive or interesting. You can tell I'm not the only one who feels that way, as she's virtually disappeared from films. What she does now is dark & edgy & I have absolutely no desire to watch. I miss the Meg Ryan of 'You've Got Mail' or 'Sleepless In Seattle.' That Meg Ryan had star power, because you could imagine her as your best friend or next door neighbor--adorable, perky, funny & sassy.
I won't go into further mention of our JAG stars, but they've both at least dabbled. CB as you mentioned earlier & DJE had to have had Botox, since his forehead & upper lip don't seem to move in all the recent picture I've seen. At least Botox wears off, if it's over done!
I know Hollywood & sports figures say they don't want to be role models for our children, but like it or not, they are the face the kids see everyday. I wish we could get past the "plastic look" and age gracefully. That doesn't mean we can't change clothes, hairstyle/color, etc. Those are all external, temporary & reversible. The plastic changes, not so much. The actresses of old aged gracefully, & in the end, those who do, will be the true beauties in their 60-80/90's. These cosmetically "created" beauties (?) will look hideous as they age.
Having said all that, I think both CB & DJE are role models where it really counts. They both seem to be devoted to their families & helping those around them. Those "inner" beauties shine through far more their outer appearance! In the ways that really count, they are head & shoulders above most of the current stars in Hollywood!!!
