[> You're not the only one who has watched it a lot ;-) Since it was obviously edited down, I'm hoping for a longer version on the DVDs. They did it with Bones, so why not? -- JJ (Ronda), 19:53:28 05/14/12 Mon [1]

[> This scene made the ABC upfronts "sizzle" reel. Paul Lee, ABC's front man calls season 4 Castles banner year. BTW it looks like Castle will be keeping its Monday night timeslot. -- TF, 17:09:27 05/15/12 Tue [1]

[> Count me in among those who is addicted to that scene! I'm also hoping for an uncut version on DVD. It was SO obviously chopped up! I also caught myself (thanks to JAG training) wondering what the script directions might have been! -- Castle-addict shygirl, 19:51:26 05/17/12 Thu [1]

[> [> The editor addressed the choppiness of the scene. She said it was edited for emotional impact and not flow. She said sometimes you have to sacrifice the flow of the scene to get the emotional impact you want out of it. They were going for STRONG emotions there. If anyone else noticed, Caslte looked funny when she is touching his mouth just before the body slam heard round the world. That is because they flipped the clip. She said it had stronger lines the other way. hmm. -- TF...not sure about the mumbo jumbo but it was emoitional. LOL, 22:06:05 05/17/12 Thu [1]

[> [> [> I think people in the visual arts get pretty hung up on the whole left / right thing. They have pre-conceived definitions of what is "strong" and what is "weak." Inside - -- Dancer - speaking for all "right thinking" people out there, 01:30:20 05/18/12 Fri [1]

Have you ever noticed how the subject of an image is almost always placed to the right? At the beginning of the "Castle" scene, the subject is Beckett. She's the one who's had the epiphany. She's the one who's come to see Rick. She's the one on the right side of the frame. (Not saying we don't care about Castle. I certainly did. I'm just trying to interpret the "mumbo jumbo." :-)

Anyway, at the critical moment, when the editor flipped the film, Castle moves into the frame headed toward the right (and the "body slam heard round the world"). Maybe that's the only way she could get it to go - to the right, that is.
