CHEVY MOTOR IN A MUSTANG
HOW TO INSTALL A SMALL BLOCK CHEVY ENGINE IN A 79-93 MUSTANG
Welcome to the site. In my efforts to put a Chevy motor in a Fox body Mustang, I found little to no information out there for support. Through trial and error I was able to do what I consider to be a clean install. It is my goal to help others out there who may be considering or are in the process of doing it as well. I love Mustangs, and I love Chevy motors. It is my belief that I have created the best of both worlds. Enjoy and I hope this site is of benefit to those who use it. Feel free to post questions or comments within the message board or email. THIS BOARD IS SETUP IN REVERSE ORDER. THE BEGINNING IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE.

I sold my 88 camaro a few months back but not before I took the 350 out of it. so i have a 350 laying in my parents garage. I love chevys but would really like to have a mustang . so yesterday I was killing time and came across a 91 lx that just looked like it wasnt being used. so without thinking twice , i bodly knocked on the guys door and asked would he sell it and he said i just caught him cause he was taking it to the junk yard in a couple days. long story short i bought the car for a 150 bucks and the body is perfect !!!! now with using the stock parts how do i get my 350 in this car? i know off hand that i have to change the mounts but what else. this is basically a budget hence the reason i want to use the stock parts along with the motor i already have and the car is set up as manual so what should i do about that as well? should i convert it to automatic or what because i would really love to have a manual , its not anything for racing just a light car with great power is what i want . can any1 help me ???? c_bussell@yahoo.com

jegs has everything you need to make it a bolt in deal. k member, m.mounts, tranny x member, inland empire drive shaft, headers, just call and ask for part #s, dont remember if web site gives them all, be prepared to drop about $1,500 for the whole package, if you have fab skills use a $100 motor plate, dont know if its fact or not, been told to use 67'-69' camaro headers with the plate, did this same conversion using jegs parts on a 78' fairmont, also a fox body, stang k member bolts right in.

Kooks headers $795, Lemons headers $1200, I am installing the aje crossmember as we speak, but does anyone have any luck finding a cheaper header alternative? It would seem to me that maybe some newer camaro or s10 shorty headers would clear? I will buy the kooks if it's my only option.

cheapest good set I've found yet...

http://www.afabcorp.com/AFCO_Dynatech_USbrake/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=Dynatech&Category_Code=dragaje

guys out ther thinking about this and needing 1 3/4 or larger primary headers buy the aje crosmember... it's worth the $ just because of header clearance issues.. you'll alot of time fighting with exhaust fitment and pully alignment issues if you use a front moterplate. it's cost me way over the $350 in time. I regret not buying it now.

i've posted on here before, letting everyone know how great the lightweight fox body coupe runs with a nice small block chevy stuffed between the fenders,(in case any of you are thinking of doing this swap, DO IT! you will not be disappointed). i started off w/ a 90 5.0 5speed notchback bonestock. slow as hell. i tried the exhaust, gear, intake ,throttle body, mass air, fuel inj... the list goes on & on, my point is i spent alot of cash and it still only ran 8.30's in the 1/8th. then i found out about an aje tubeular k-member & trans x-member that allows the installation of my favorite little motor.A SMALL BLOCK CHEVY!! so as you will find out, i sold off all that ford crap(but kept the ford 8.8 rear) installed a aje k-member, turbo 350 trans. x-member, qa1 alum. coilovers, kooks headers ,dropped in a healthy 406 solid roller, alum. headed beast, a built turbo 350 w/3500 stall, had dynotech engineering build me an alum. driveshaft, installed a moser 35 spline spool along with 373 gear,35 spline axles, c-clip eliminators, installed some mega bite jr lower and adjustable uppers. removed a ton of uneeded wiring and rewired the whole car w/ a painless kit. welded in full length frame ties, battle box kit, 8 point roll cage, the list goes on, but in the end, the first trip back to the ol 1/8th mile track netted me a 7.00 @99mph crossing the line w/ more rpms to go and launching with both front wheels off the ground with 1.50 60 ft times. i still have some tweeking to do here and there, but their is no other mustang in my town that can come close to running with me. i hope this helps someone else out there do the same thing and then you will see why there is this web site.

i've been working on my 90 coupe w/406 & turbo 350 for over a year now, almost ready for the track. i also had some alignment issues with the trans x-member. but i ended up figuring out that i didn't have the k-member in square, i had to slot the k-member holes a tad, made sure motor & trans were centered and then the x-member bolted right up. i was able to find a used set of kooks headers made for the swap, they are a TIGHT fit, but work. now just waiting on getting a driveshaft made and roll cage installed.

The swap was very simple actually...and the weight transfer at the track with the sbc and powerglide setup is great....I got my headers made from Lemons Headers also came with adapter plates / Reher Morrison style.

I do have a question though, On the AJE K-member, where the stock coil mounts are supposed to be, there is just a square bar, are the coils supposed to mount on thin bar?

I HAVE DONE 4 CHEVY SMALL BLOCKS INSTALLS IN FOX BODIES, HOW I DO IS BUT THE CHEAP DYNOMAX HEADERS FROM ADVANCE AUTO, BUILD ME A SMALLER STEERING SHAFT VERY EASYLY DONE,I LIKE MY MOTOR BACK AS FAR AS POSSIBLE FOR GREAT WEIGHT TRANSFER, I WILL BANG IN THE FIRERWALL WITH A HAMMER SO MY MSD DIST WILL CLEAR NICE, THEN CUT WEBS FROM STOCK K-MEMBER, THEN DROP IN ENGINE AND TRANS HANGING ON THE HOIST, INSTALL HEADERS, YOU CAN NOW MOVE FORWARD AND BACK TO GET HEADER CLEARENCE, DRIVER SIDE MAY NEED A LITTLE PART OF HEADER DING IN FOR CLEARENCE, THE USE SOME FLAT 4 BOLT CHEVY MOTOR MOUNTS YOU CAN THEN WELD A PEICE OF FLAT STEEL PLATE TO THEM, DRILL HOLE MOUMT TO STOCK K-MEMBER, THIS WORKS GREAT AND LOTS OF SAVE CASH, GOOD LUCK

What is the best and cheapest headers to use with a stock K-MEMBER? What else will I have to look out for when doing this. I have a 80 mustang that came with a stright 6. Will I have to change to a V-8 K-Member or can I cut it to make the motor fit?

Bill,
I have a '93 fox body and a sbc nightmare!!! I found this site by accident looking for headers. I have a qa1 k member in the car now and talked lemons headers about the pipes. I damn near dropped the phone when they said "you MUST use the aje k member and our headers or nothing will work"!!! Oh yeah, the headers are $1200.00 a set. I made some notes on different parts and part numbers from the site and feel I'm going in the right direction now. If you would please e-mail me back with some suggestions, I am all ears and appreciate your help.

One what oil pan did you use is it a rear sump or front sump? How did you make the drivetrain like what drive shaft was used? Did u have any other problems putting it in?

about the drive shaft question it depends on the route you go. I also used an engine plate so I was able to use a bastard U joint on the stock mustang driveshaft and put a yoke for the th350 on it. this can only be done with the long tail style out of trucks or a 700r4 4l60 ect... it has to be a long trany. but I'm also making my own headers so that may be a factor for others.

What's up?
I've decided to drop a big block in a late 80's coupe. I plan on doing pretty much the same thing as I did with the small block, but I'm wondering if I can get away without running a mid plate. Any idea what kind of numbers require running a mid? Will probably have to bite the bullet on headers this time. I'm going to try and install with the stock K. I'll post back up.
Anybody that's done a BBC please let me know if you ran into anything unsuspected - like tranny tunnel for TH400.
Thanks

I am building a 86 with a SBC with a 400 trans and the trans fit just fine. I used a PA racing K member and a AJE trans cross member for the 400. Bolted right up. I can send you some pictures if it will help. Good luck.

Did you have to modify the pa k member to work with the chevy motor?I'm working on my 86 lx,with a 74 350 4bolt main ,bored .060 over, with 202 heads and torker 2 intake and holley 650 dbl pmpr.I was thinking the tubular k member would help with the headers.?

I have done a BBC/TH350 in a '87 Stang. Fits better that I ever imagined. I used stock K member fabbed my own mounts using stock car style mounts. Made my own trans crossmember that bolts in the fox mounts. Fabricated my headers from a set of '69 Nova for a BBC. Cut every tube and started from scratch. Turned out really nice and had them ceramic coated. I haven't had a chance to install a 9" yet, still have the 4 cyl. 3.45 (7.5) rear in it. This project is still in progress. I did though, go to the strip and took a chance on the stock rear. Leaving very gently (soggy 1.71 60') it ran a bearable 11.43 @ 118. Once I figure out how to post pics I'll send some out. Thanks, Steve

If anyone is looking for some custom built headers to fit either the AJE k-member or the PA Racing k-member give Tim at the Fab Shop a call. We ordered a set a couple of weeks ago and they were here in no time. We ordered up a set of 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 step headers and they are absolutley awesome and fit like a glove. Here is his website http://www.thefabshopheaders.com/
Headers custom built for the swap are $750. They include gaskets that are guaranteed not to leak as well...Give him a call and he will set you up.

My car is gone, but I'll still check back to see if I can help anyone. I decided to get out of racing for myself. I'm currently building a 347 carb'd '94 Mustang for my son. The plan is a small plate kit, and a fogger. Trying to keep the car friendly with A/C and the original leather interior. Goal is to run 10.0's. Here's a pic of the new Ford motor. I'm still Chevy at heart!!!

Don't be scared to try something different.

I used an Afco for Chevrolet. If the dimensions are not listed below, then i don't remember. Just measure the available space, and give yourself an inch for clearance. It was an easy deal.

Lemmons went to AJE and asked them to build the k-member. Their headers are the only one's built around the k-member construction. I called and talked to Anthony Jones himself, so that came direct from the source.
That's not to say you can't have a custom set built. I couldn't get a quality set built in Houston any cheaper than the $975 that Lemmons wanted. I heard that Lemmons went up on their pricing recently.

The Hooker Chevy II headers are almost a dead fit with the motor plate. I don't know of any other full length header that comes even close to working. The problem comes in on the drivers side with the steering shaft.

I tried some 70-81 Camaro headers with the AJE member and almost got the pass. side on, but had to dent the hell out of it. No way on the drivers side unless you move 2 or 3 tubes. You have to create a path for the steering shaft to go through.

I called and talked to them about the k-member. The Hedman Camaro header that he used was a 1 5/8" primary. He mentioned that the fit was good and didn't have to move any of the primary tubes. That size will work for a mild street motor, but will suffer on anything with some power. He said that they would go to Lemmons for anything larger. So here's an alternative for anyone building a mild motor. Thanks for posting the link.

Subject: Making the tranny crossmember

Author:
Bill
[Edit]

Date Posted: 06:39:47 01/06/05 Thu

I was able to use the existing tranny x-member brackets coming off of the frame/floorpan. I did have to trim them back to make room for the 3" exhaust, but the part that you need with the single bolt hole going through it is near the frame. These existing brackets were almost in a dead line across the trans mount on the tranny in my car.I used a piece of 2" angle to run between the frame rails and made brackets to connect it to the trimmed back existing x-member mounts. When the setup is complete, you weld the fabricated mounts to the frame. The 2" angle will bolt to the welded mounts so it can be removed. You will also need to do a build-up in the center of the cross member to get the back of the tranny at the same level you set the motor plate up with. This level will effect your header, distributor and steering shaft clearance you setup during the motor plate install. The cross member will be the biggest fabricating part on the whole swap. Look at the pics below to see how I did it. Everybody I'm sure will do this different. The 2" angle on my car still needs to be trimmed up for looks. I used the cut off AJE Chevy motor mounts to make my brackets with. At least I got something out of that expensive k-member!
Also keep in mind when you make the brackets that the x-member has to sit low enough that you can run your exhaust between it and the floorpan.

Subject: Setting the motor plate

Author:
Bill
[Edit]

Date Posted: 06:07:06 01/06/05 Thu

With the headers bolted up, steering shaft on, distributor clearance good, engine and trans level where you want it you can set the motor plate. Lay a board or something flat between the frame rails. For now, your going to be using the edge of the frame sticking upwards to locate the plate. Measure from the board upwards to a reference point on the motor that corresponds to something on the motor plate like a water pump bolt hole. Don't forget to add the width of the board or whatever it is your using. What your going to do is cut back the bottom corner of the plate so that it will rest on the top of the frame and bolt to the motor. You do not want to cut back the entire length at this time, your just taking out the bottom corner! With your measurement from the frame to the reference point on the plate, take that measurement and measure on the actual plate down the same length. Now find the distance to this point from the top or bottom of the plate and make several marks all the way across the length of the plate. I used a fine tip Marks-a-lot. Get a good straight edge and draw the line. Now you need to find the distance from the center of the motor to the inside of the frame rails. Chances are you will not be exactly centered. Again, locate a common reference point between the plate and motor and measure from that reference point on the motor to the inside of the frame rail. Do both side as they will be different somewhat. Subtract about 1/2" from these 2 measurements for clearance inside the frame. (You can give less clearance if you like, but you may have to come back and trim it again after cutting out the corners if you left too much) Transfer these measurements to the plate and mark your lines. You should now have an intersecting point in the two lower hand corners. You will be cutting the two created corner squares out. After cutting set the plate in. You should be able to bolt it to the front of the motor while resting it on the top of the frame rails. If your off, you can always trim it back to get the fit you need to get it to bolt on. With the plate bolted on, you can remove the jack under the oil pan (leave the tranny jack on!) Now you can do some fine tuning with side to side movement or upwards if you shim between the frame and the plate. If the motor is too high, put you jack back under the pan, remove the plate and trim back the height a little more. Everybody's setup will be different, so there's no measurements that I can give you. Once you satisfied where you have it, it's time to make the plate to frame brackets. I used 2" angle cutting them to the height of the frame. I ground some radius into the corners for looks. Clean all the paint/grease off the frame and bracket and weld them on. (see previous pics for location) I used a couple of c-clamps to keep the brackets located flush to the frame and plate during welding. Note that the 1/2" clearance that you gave the plate during cutting at the inside of the frame will also give you the room to weld the plate bracket to the frame along this edge. YOUR ONLY WELDING THE BRACKET TO THE FRAME, DO NOT WELD IT TO THE PLATE! After welding, drill a single hole through the plate and the bracket. I decided to use a 1/2" grade 8 bolt. I'm sure this is overkill and you may choose to go smaller. With the holes drilled on both sides, put the jack under the oil pan and remove the plate. Now it's time to decide how you want to trim it up for the finished job. You don't need the frame overlap anymore since the brackets now hold the plate. Take a look at my pics at the bottom of the page to see what I decided. Your thoughts may be completely different. I found a place near me that did metal shearing. I just marked the lines as I wanted it cut and in 5 minutes they had it done for a $20 tip to the machine operator. I cannot stress how much better the shear edge was compared to my little hand saw. Like night and day. Bolt up your new plate and move on to the tranny mount.

I have an 87 fox body coupe with a 400 sbc. The car runs 10.60's ( 9.80's on nitrous) with a small cam and patriot block hugger headers. It has all the stock suspension and steering up front, I live in the East Tx area and have a friend with a smilar set up and one with a 496 in a hatchback.

I used Hooker Super Comp for Chevy II chassis exit. The part number is in a paragraph down below. Congrats, that's some good times on your setup. Would be happy to post up a pic if you like. Email me at sbcinamustang@yahoo.com

Thanks for hosting the pic for me, and thanks for the info on the headers and creating the web site. The track at Lufkin is an awesome track. I also have to plug a friend, Robert Lane ( Fast Lane Nitrous ) who built my nitrous system, he does custom set up's and is a local guy. He has given me tons of advice and help.

I am going to get a K member now and order some of those headers.

I will work on trying to get some pictures for you guys. We race at Cherokee County MotorSpots Park In Rusk Tx. It has run some 10.20's there bracket racing and some 10.teens at Ennis and RR, 10.17 at 131mph is the fastests all motor, with a 1.43 60' the car is right around 2800 pounds and we have not done any major gutting of it. We have not used the spray in a long time, but with stock suspension on the car we were running 10.70's at 126 and with some timming issues went 9.80 at 136, that was over a year ago. Our car picks up a solid 4 tenths on a 100 shot. 1/8th mile is in the 6.40 range on motor.

Hey! What oil pan did you use? Could you use a stock chevy small block oil pan? You used headers for a 67 and older Chevy Nova? Is there a motor mount/tranny mount kit out there for the job?

I have a 91 notchback with a 2.3 that I wish to put a chevy small block in and can not seem to find any information on doing it. I would greatly appreciate all of the help that I can get. Please email me at johnyreb47@yahoo.com if you can be of any assistance.

Thanks,
John

Put the car up on 4 jackstands and get it level. The highest point of the outside fender well lips are even on all 4 corners, so you can measure from there to the ground. I placed the jackstands directly on the frame to take the suspension out of play.
Your going to see 2 rectangular steel brackets welded to the inside of the frame starting at 12" from the core support. I have no idea why Ford put those there, but they're in the way. There is one on each side and they're tach welded on. I used a Sawzall and cut them off (took about 15 minutes) I hear that you can heat them up with a torch and knock them off with an air chisel. If you choose to cut, just trim them back as close as you can without cutting into the frame. Don't get nervous, if you cut slightly into the frame, it's no big deal. It would be easier to take care of what's left now, but you can grind out the leftovers later if you want.
Time to set the motor and trans in. Keep in mind that while I was doing all of this, my motor and trans were bolted together and sitting on top of 2 floor jacks. If you want to leave your motor on the hoist and bolt up the trans under the car, or put it in as a unit, it's up to you. Get the assembly on to 2 floor jacks. I put a 12" x 12" x 1" piece of wood between the cup of the jack and the oil/tranny pans. This will give you more stability for movement and prevent the jack from crushing in the pan. You may also decide to leave the hoist on as well if room allows. This whole thing will weigh less than 850 lbs. You will not crush the pans, they are much stronger than that. Move the motor/trans around to where you have sufficient room to bolt on the headers. Bolt them up snug without gaskets because they will be coming back off. Next move the motor until you have room to install the steering shaft. I had 1/4" clearance between the shaft and header primary when I completed the install. Last install the distributor. There is a 1/2" protrusion coming from the firewall where it meets the cowl that may make dropping the distributor in tight. You can either cut a small section of this out, or live with the clearance issues. I chose to cut it out (pic below) It will not interfere with the distributor operation, only the install. Once you have the 4 points of clearance established (headers, steering shaft, oil pan to rack & distributor) find your happy medium. I wanted to set the motor as level as possible from front to back, but the header collector flange hit on the floorpans right after they turn under the car from the engine compartment. This is the only time I had to beat on the car. I took a 1 lb. hammer and knocked in the pans about 1 inch to give sufficient room for the flange. The collectors themselves never touched the pan. The point where you have to hit is actually under the car and cannot be seen from the engine compartment. You will need to remove the header and test fit as you "move" the pan in until the motor is at the angle you want. Do you follow me here? The clearance in the floorpan will effect the motor angle because the header which is bolted to the head won't allow it to tilt forward. Keep an eye on you steering shaft clearance as you work this. If the motor angle causes the shaft to become to close to the header, you can slide the motor back slightly to give it more room. I currently have 1" between the distributor and firewall without having had to dent it in, so there is plenty of room. Again, find the middle ground for all the clearances. It's really not that difficult. Take a deep breath, your half way home. On to the motor plate install.

I looked for a front motor plate to substitute for the motor mounts. The only one I could find that was wide enough to fit between the frame was the Competition Engineering part# C4004 (see pic below)
All of the block mounting holes are drilled, but you'll have to trim the edges to fit for final installation. You will also need the headers and steering shaft at time of the front plate install since their clearances revolve around where you will set the plate. I used Hooker part# 2243, 1 3/4" primary, 3" collector for '62-'67 Chevy II Nova. The Chevy II had a similar engine compartment which required a close fitting header. The fit on these was near perfect with only a slight modification to the floor pan which will be talked about later. I also got a new steering shaft from Flaming River (1-800-648-8022 ). The rag joint on the stock steering shaft will not clear the #1 primary, so this will have to be changed. Another thing that AJE didn't tell me was with the 1 1/2" rack drop, the shaft would need to be longer. I guess I should have figured this out myself. If you go the drop rack route, Flaming River sells longer shafts with their standard kits. You will need to measure and cut to length. There are 2 different spline counts on the rack shaft, so count the number of teeth or measure the shaft OD before you call to order. If your going to install a manual rack, now would be the time. My car came with a manual rack from a Mustang, so I left it in. I've heard that you can also use a rack off of a Pinto.

I bought a near cherry Fairmont Futura and intended to build a 408 windsor motor. Being a Chevy guy from birth I was shocked by ford parts prices, and having a stout 358 from my dirt super stock (400+ HP with a 2 barrel) available, I chose to take the road less traveled. Thank you for your forum and the advice of contributors. My first purchase was a qa1 crossmember (i was still thinking big windsor motor). A mistake, but usable. Last week was the first trial fit and led to a sawzall attack of the engine mounts. A motor plate is the only way to go, and does not interfere with the swaybar install. The header search led me to the $50.00 per pound header company also but I would spend that on flanges, bends, and a tig welder first and have the welder and a header when done. When real progess is made I will follow up with more of the Mouse in a Fox House. Thanks again.

When I first started this, I went to AJE Racing (ajeracing.com)to buy their K-member with Chevy motor mounts. The quality is excellent and the fit was great. I decided to get the 1 1/2" rack drop they offered to give more oil pan clearance. This requires a bump steer kit to offset the new angle going to the spindle. The bump steer kit is sold seperate. The style racing pan I'm using sits low, so I used all the extra room it gave me. I sat the motor in on the AJE member with Chevy mounts and found there was lots of room for forward to rear adjustment built into the setup. There is also side to side and up and down room meaning that you need to use a level and square to get the motor straight. I fought with this for awhile until I was satisfied with the results. Now came the fun part, headers. I was told by someone local that 70-81 Camaro headers would fit, so I spent $225 on a set of used Super Comps. The passenger side was close, but the drivers there was no way. Everything seem to hit the AJE motor mounts. I tried S10 headers and even a set of modified exhaust manifolds, nothing worked. I called AJE and they told me that the only people that would have a header is Lemmons. I called Lemmons to find out they wanted 1k for the set. Called AJE back and raised hell saying that they should tell you up front that the k-member that they sell will only work with a set of $1000 headers. Needless to say I wasn't going to throw that kind of money for them so I had another idea. Cut the AJE motor stands and mounts off.

I've built an 86 LX mustang with a SBC 350 with a powerglide. I did use stock K member with some mods.i used 70 nova headers with no problems except building a steering rod to pass a tube on the driver side header.I modified my oil pan so the motor would sit low. The stock trans cross member worked with no problems. i built my own 3" exhaust running thru the double hump cross member.I built my car to be streetable but has turned 6.69 thru the 1/8 mile with a best of 1.63 60ft times. i would be more than glad to answer any questions that you might have.

I am in the process of doing the sbc and a 700r4 into an 89lx. I am going to leave the k-member alone and I am thinking of using a front motor plate. If any one has any pics of a setup like this I would appreciate it. What off the shelf headers are the easiest to use.

I built my own solid mounts on a stock k member. Would you recomend AJE K member? This my second small block mustang project. This time Im thinking twin turbo. There is a kit on ebay for an f body i think i can make work. Seems too cheep to be true. First one was 355 with 87 block comp roller cam trick flow 23 degree heads was a gt picked up a notch back gt went 12.70 @ 109. Still have the motor & trans curious about AJE K member. One guy on this site said it was junk and he looked like he had a nice setup

The forum is now active, although in it's basic form. The improvements will come over time as time allows. Your comments are always welcome and there will be no censorship on this site. You are responsible for your own words! It would be impossible to put all the information that you will need in just one post. There are some basic fabricating skills required. If you can't make a custom bracket, then this swap is not for you. Thanks for visiting and hopefully you will have something different to drive and admire in the end.

Here are two pics of the motor plate. The plate comes as an unfinished rectangle and will need to be cut to length. The final plate install will be one of the last things to do. The finished position will revolve around where the motor wants to sit for best header and distributor clearance. This was fairly easy to do with a floor jack under the oil pan and one under the trans pan. I could move the whole assembly in any direction, up or down and any angle. Put something flat between the jack and the pans so you don't crush them. Notice the header clearance on the passenger side. Plenty of room.

If anyone is looking for some custom built headers to fit either the AJE k-member or the PA Racing k-member give Tim at the Fab Shop a call. We ordered a set a couple of weeks ago and they were here within a week.

Yes, use the sbc headers for the S10. With a minor modification to the firewall and a slight adjustment to the steering rod, they work just fine.

A little tight for the spark plugs, but they DO work. We have them on my 87 convertable.

Which set of s10 swap headers I've found a few different types. trans dapt makes 2 diff. sets.

and has anyone found a set of 1 3/4 off the shelf headers that will just bolt in. using a motorplate and the stock stearing knuckel?

the hedman 1 3/4 for a chevy II I bought will not work. they don't clear either side. pass is close driver's no way.
