Let's reminisce a bit back to the days of yore and youth. What are some of your favorite childhood memories of the holiday season?

[> Every year on Christmas Eve we'd go over to Nana's and my cousins and I would get a load of good food, laughter, family, and presents! I miss you Nana! -- Theresa, 04:50:26 12/06/11 Tue [1]

[> My mother makes these butter cookies. We loved the dough so much, she made double portions so we could eat some and there was still enough left for actual cookies. Gave us some stomach aches afterwards, but I still snatch some when I happen to stop by at the right time! -- Jam, 06:51:25 12/06/11 Tue [1]

[> [> Oh, and the way we give out presents...this happens on christmas eve over here. Everyone would put the presents under the tree (or usually, on the couch), and each present has the name of the person itīs intended for on it. After christmas dinner, we roll the dice - whoever gets a six gets to open one of their presents. The next person is only allowed to continue rolling the dice when the present is unwrapped and has been admired. Takes hours, but itīs so much fun! -- Jam...occasionally, someone might have loads of little presents opened while others are still waiting to open their first...., 06:54:53 12/06/11 Tue [1]

[> My Dad bring the Christmas tree home on Christmas eve and the family would decorate it. Then we would go to Midnight Mass. Getting up early to see what Santa brought us. Nothing was wrapped like they do today. Just all the toys and things under the tree with little cards with our names on them. One year there were 4 Bikes. I have 3 older brothers. Most of the time the presents came half way into the living room. My Dad was a trucker driver and my Mom a housewife, but we had a wonderful childhood and life. [> Christmas always meant going from home to home in the family and having lots of laughter, stories, entertainment from all the 'hams' in the family -- beginning with the big, goofy uncle who thought he could sing like Frank Sinatra, to each child highlighting their own talent (me -- playing the accordian -- lol!) like joke-telling, singing a song, tap dancing, playing their instrument (we wondered why there were cotton balls handed out to the adults), etc. inside -- mj, 10:13:43 12/07/11 Wed [1]

There were always loads of food and show-and-tell of favorite gifts. We also didn't have much money, but we always seemed to have MORE than too much of gifts! I miss my Dad and Mom SO much!

[> When I was young we got like one "main" gift usually a doll for me and some socks one year I got knitiing needles and ayrn and was tickled to get it. We always had stockings with candies, candy cane an apple and an orange. We thought we were very lucky to get it. My dad was 52 when I was born and had a major semi truck accident when I was 4-5 so times were tough but we didnt know it. Christmas is so hard nowadays with all the electronics and stuff. -- TF, 17:16:03 12/07/11 Wed [1]

[> By the time I came along, my brothers were older and growing out of the Santa phase. We would go to church on Christmas Eve, and then my parents would drop one or more of the brothers off at the house while we took a ride to "look at the lights". When we got home, Santa would have been there. My parents' explanation was that since he had to go all over the world, he had to start SOMEWHERE and he knew we'd be at church. Our family then opened all the presents and celebrated Christmas Eve. Christmas Day was rather low key. -- TH, 17:26:44 12/07/11 Wed [1]
