Pets don't celebrate religious holidays, nor do they need to provide for others as many families and charities do, and yet PAWS is the only charity County bends over backwards to ensure success. The Chamber and Council could encourage assistance to other, more needy charities serving wider causes. PAWS has a good balance sheet. Most of the charities do not. PAWS has been given over 1 million dollars by County. The County appears so busy justifying the grants for PAWS, and even soliciting for them, that they cannot give due attention to some of the other worthy charities who are in dire need.
