Penn State added to its late run in the Class of 2014 with a commitment from Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame safety/linebacker Koa Farmer on Saturday. Farmer was on campus for an official visit this weekend.

Farmer confirmed the news in a post on his Instagram on Saturday evening.

"The journey is done!" he wrote. "First I want to thank California-Berkeley for the great and outstanding opportunity. It has been a long and powerful journey! I am blessed to announce that I will be ending the recruiting process and attend Penn State University were I will become Dr. Farmer and fulfill my dream of becoming a PhD in Pathology!"

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound junior was previously committed to California. He also had scholarship offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Vanderbilt, Washington and Wisconsin, among others.

Farmer was high on Vanderbilt before James Franklin was hired to be the head coach at Penn State.

The senior is the No. 214 prospect nationally according to 247Sports. He is the No. 13 safety nationally and the No. 24 player in California. He is the No. 31 safety nationally and the No. 41 player in the state according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
