Date Posted: 12:21:56 09/19/13 Thu any suggestions for activities in vegas? Right now I will be making reservations at a restaurant for sat night. Other than that everything is up in the air. I am also considering booking a cabana at a pool for sat but given the possible mild weather that may not be worth it. If I dont go that route, I may organize some early but not too early morning golf for those who want to play on sat (maybe we can get a scramble/best ball with handicaps going). as for that trich trade, at first I was shocked but now that Ive taken a step back and analyzed it a bit more I think it is a good move. My only problem is that I find it hard to believe the best offer they could have gotten back is a 1st rounder in return. Im pretty sure the colts would have thrown in a 4th rounder or something. If not them, someone else would have. Its a good move for them though because with this being such a stacked qb class they should be able to get a franchise qb potential qb late in the first round. They can then use their shitty 1st or 2nd overall pick on clowney or lee or matthews. |

I know that its first season was very well-reviewed and its currently on On Demand. - Has anyone read the new Klosterman book or the novel by Jack Handey (snl guy)? |

VEGAS!!! i can't believe it's just a week and change away. i need this trip and i need it badly. having to hear about you fools having fun in nyc was brutal. mom update: things went well for cycle 2. mom had her 2nd long dose (this one via her stomach) yesterday and now she's off for 2 weeks. her hair is starting to fall out but she has her wigs ready to go. she's looking good and still holding her own emotionally. caruso and i went up this weekend with hanna and had a nice time (sans shitty psu game - way to let them lose tony). happy GTA V day everyone!!! my copy is being delivered now and i can't wait to ignore my family and play it until the odd hours of the night. giggity!!! the stillers are seemingly as awful as i feared they'd be this year. time to blow everything up and start fresh next year. it's really been a long time coming. |

Date Posted: 12:19:45 09/16/13 Mon Went to the game on Saturday with the family: We managed to survive, in no small part to me lucking into a room at the Hampton inn for Saturday night. It was nice to be walking distance to the stadium. During the day we hit the shrine and the creamery. Fuck the line at the creamery was long. The student body appears especially fat and ugly this year. Hopefully this is an outlier year and not due to the fact that I was sober. Weather was perfect. Sunday was spent watching the Eagles game and booking vacation to Disney for next year. We are planning to go Apr 1-8 as long as airline tickets work out. I should know about them in about a month. It's weird how Southwest (and subsequently Frontier) don't have flights that far in advance. Bad weekend for my sports teams. Thankfully my FF team salvaged the weekend. Beast Mode comes up huge. |

Date Posted: 13:42:35 09/12/13 Thu I am finally feeling normal again. Full disclosure, I was not feeling 100% before heading up to NYC for the bachelor party. My lymph nodes were sore and I felt myself kinda getting achy. Because I am not a bitch, I powered through Saturday fueled on adrenaline and Miller Lite. My illness fully manifested itself on Sunday morning in the form of a stomach virus. I threw up all day and didn't really get out of bed after getting home. I slept through most of the football games after Jono and Vic left my place. It was great that both of them were able to meet Lady B. B is super friendly and really enjoys hanging out. I am watching B tonight while Ali goes out with some girls for dinner. I am really looking forward to it. I am not eating McDonald's again for a while. I got some positive news at work regarding my advancement at the firm. I have to wait a little bit longer but I think that I am in the home stretch. |

I was on baby duty Friday night/Saturday morning. After a bit of booze Friday night, this was not as fun as it used to be. It is also incredibly strange to wake up at 5am and still have football games being played. Sunday was my turn to sleep in. And I did! Fast forwarding to dinner time, we went down to a neighbors for some grilled (tubed and non-tubed) meat. I just realized TV shows are making their way back into the fall line up. Are there any new standouts that people will be watching this season? |

Date Posted: 23:00:29 09/03/13 Tue I saw the Spectacular Now over the weekend and thought that it was good (definitely a good date movie). I can't really discuss without getting into spoiler territory, but there was something about the movie that diminished it down to merely good for me (from really good). That being said, I think that the lead actor was great. I'm not familiar with him, but he did a good job. I was a little thrown off at first because his voice reminded me of Shia Lebouf doing a Jonah Hill impression. Also, it helps that I am in love with the lead actress (girl from The Descendants). I watched the roast of James Franco last night and actually enjoyed it (it was the first one in years that I liked). It probably helps that I actually liked most of the roasters and it seemed to have a different vibe from the previous roasts. As Hafer previously mentioned, I saw that Fox Soccer (no longer needed now that they have FS1) has turned into fxx this week. In other TV news, G4 has transitioned to Esquire TV and it looks like they may have a couple interesting shows premiering later this month (food, travel, beer-related) that may be worth checking out. Funny highlight video a NW fan put together for beating Cal (I can't imagine what he'd have in store if they beat OSU this year): http://youtu.be/KoYRmOXGHU0 |

Date Posted: 10:51:10 09/03/13 Tue Hello everybody! Happy post-labor day blues. As Hafer astutely pointed out, my holiday was destined to be uneventful. And it was! Clear your calendars! We booked our travel for the holidays. It's going to be a long trip (3 weeks) this year. We'll be in PA 12/14-12/18, LA 12/18-12/27, and PA 12/27-1/2. Poor Stoli will be left behind in Munich to guard the apartment. Penn State plays Ohio State the day after Vic's wedding. For those interested in sticking around an extra night, it would be nice to hang out and watch the game together. We should also be available the Thursday before his wedding to get together. So, what did everyone think about the Penn State game this weekend? Things did not look super great from my end but perhaps it's too early to tell? At least Ficken looks like he's improved. Hafer, you should take your Mom to Fogo de Chao's and let her go to town on all the red meat. Man, I haven't had steak in ages! There is one place here that looks like they have decent, american-style steaks, but they also have delicious ribs that I've been unable to resist when I'm there. Other things I miss: chicken wings, crab legs, oysters, cool ranch doritos. My German is way better than Kate's. Kate isn't really exposed to the language on a regular basis. |

Date Posted: 02:03:01 08/31/13 Sat I've been watching Broadchurch this summer on BBC America and I've found it to be a pretty compelling drama (it's available on Comcast On Demand). Given that it's British, it's slower paced and not action packed like a typical American drama. However, I think it is well-acted, well-shot, and keeps you thinking. Also, I just saw this guy's interview on Olbermann. It was interesting and his book sounds really interesting: http://www.amazon.com/Sports-Gene-Extraordinary-Athletic-Performance/dp/1591845114/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1377928736&sr=1-1&keywords=sports+gene I plan on checking it out. |

Date Posted: 06:10:12 08/28/13 Wed I am so pumped for college football. I am a little bummed that we couldn't get the college fantasy league going again this year though. After watching those All-Access on PSU on ESPNU, I am in love with this team and coaches. The lack of depth will be tough for the next couple years, especially with the recruiting classes that OSU and scUM have been pulling in, but it's a nice feeling to have full faith in the coaches. I really hope that O'Brien doesn't take and NFL job and chooses to remain at PSU after the sanctions end, because I could definitely see us competing for national championships with him at the helm. I would already have the EPL league locked up if I didn't get screwed by Yahoo this past week. It has the worst interface of any Yahoo game that I've seen. In similar news, Yahoo's new fantasy football interface kind of sucks as well. Not quite Boom Goes the Dynamite, but bad: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=b5d_1377176291 |

Date Posted: 18:50:47 08/19/13 Mon My trip has been extended to Thursday. Wednesdy night I stay at some hotel in Germantown. I'll have access to car so transportation shouldn't be an issue. My biggest concern is availability. Apparently, we got clearance to use our escorts (not that kind) for up to 12 hours per day so I could be tied up from 7-7 every day. I'm going to try to nail down if meeting up is even a possibility while on my flight and I'll let you guys know what's up. |

Date Posted: 15:26:56 08/19/13 Mon wow, lots to read on the board for once. good hustle everyone. so i was on vacation last week with the family. we went up to portsmouth, nh and rented a nice house near the center of town. the weather was gorgeous (75 and sunny with no humidity) every day but 1 so we had lots of time to go out and do stuff. the only rough spots were, of course, the fault of chewie but what else is new? she sucks at life. we got back into town thursday night and i did a bunch of stuff around the house on friday while caruso went to her classroom and hanna visited her friends at daycare (quick aside, daycare is the best thing ever. caruso hated it at first too but now she's on board with the logic express. joe, sign b up, dive in and never look back. the positives totally outweigh the initial difficulties.) yesterday we had out annual "teachers have to go back to work like the rest of the workforce" bbq at the house. lukey was out of town because his mom had a b-day or something stupid like that so we had to make due with bok, lulu, and some of our assorted other friends. toker brought a game called kan-jam (http://www.kanjam.com/) which is epic. throw in lots of tubed meats and beer and you get a fun day. what was not fun was coming into work and getting slammed with emails and projects. i am really starting to hate my job. jono, tomorrow night i should be free, but not until after 6 (caruso has a teacher meeting thing). let me know where you guys are going and i'll see if i can swing down for some booze. joo, it is looking very unlikely that i'll be able to make it to your joo-fest. it sucks and i'm super sorry but my work/personal schedule just isn't cooperating too much. speaking of personal schedule: my mom started chemo today. she has a "light dose" followed by a heavy dose (5-6 hrs) tomorrow, then another heavy dose in a week's time. making sure she's taken care of and comfortable is going to take up a lot of my time over the next several months but she seems to be doing very well with everything. she really appreciated all the notes and letters you guys sent. it means a lot to her (and all of us). finally, i hope everyone watched a lot of epl matches this weekend. i know i did. did anyone pick a team to follow? for you philly fans, i'd suggest arsenal. they used to be good but leadership has completely boned them over the past few years. they are now a shell of their former selves despite having a pretty talented squad. just a suggestion. boobs |

Date Posted: 21:17:07 08/17/13 Sat Found out I need to go to DC from Monday evening to Wednesday evening. I think I get in too late Monday night to be available but I think Tuesday night I might be free. I'm posting my details here in the event that there's any possibility that i could meet up with any of you DC folks for a beer or something. Fly into BWI on Monday night landing @ 9:20pm. Staying at Hampton Inn in College Park, MD Monday night. Have site visits all day Tuesday and end up staying at a Hampton Inn in Largo, MD that night. Like I said, I have no clue if meeting up is even an option but just wanted to throw out my details just in case. There's always a chance that the guys I will be with will want to do some work on Tuesday night or that this location is insanely inconvenient for a meet-up and this could be all for naught, but you never know. |

Date Posted: 09:02:08 08/16/13 Fri This has been a tough week for the Donnie-meister. I had a bunch of big projects come up at work with a short turnaround time and I need to attend a licensing meeting in Seoul next week. To complicate matters, my in-laws are watching B and are hanging out at my house every night before retreating back to their hotel room. The good news is that they are heading out tomorrow and it goes back to just being the 3 of us. The bad news is that I leave for Seoul tomorrow morning at 7:30a (before my in-laws leave). This feels just like a finals week only instead of getting piss drunk at the end of it, I am boarding a flight for Asia. I did receive an upgrade to 1st class for the first leg of my journey -- so I got that going for me ... which is nice. I am really looking forward to the upcoming BPs and weddings. It's going to be such a blast. I heard that we are staying at the Mandalay Bay again. I hope the Rangoon Newsroom is still up to snuff. Please sign up for all the various gambling pools that we have going on. Premiere league fantasy starts this weekend and we have the pick em pools going on too. Please invite others to participate. |

We would love to have you there but given the circumstances, we dont want you guys jumping through hoops to make it. If you can make it, terrific, if you cant, we totally understand. Speaking of that, wedding planning sucks. We got all the major stuff out of the way early and thought we could cruise through the next few months. Welp, after a couple months of not really doing anything we are now realizing there is WAY more yet to do than we originally thought. Needless to say, stress levels have been at all time highs lately. Good to hear everything is going well with everyone on the kids front. Cant wait to see everyone at the upcoming bps and weddings. |

Date Posted: 21:44:29 08/12/13 Mon Jono - You wanted to know what the surfer girl looks like. Well, she looks meh. Congrats on all of the good things abound with regards the kids. Congrats on Lewis's first B-day (awesome pics) and congrats on B getting, well, B'ed. As far as Vic's wedding goes - I must have the shittiest luck in the world. The wedding is literally the weekend right after we get back from our Honeymoon. We are going to try and scramble and see if we can get there either Friday night or Sat morning. I'm gonna do everything I can to make; I will not accept an absence on my part, and I have a track record of not letting things get in the way of me attending the weddings of my friends. As far as work goes, well, I had another meeting with my GM and it was completely happy and positive. Here are some excerpts: - "You need a guy on the road by September; you need another one by November at least. You need to get on this yesterday. - "You're budgeted for XYZ because VP XXX is a softie. If you hit his goals, you won't be in the position long." I feel GREAT. No worries though, I already made an offer to someone quite literally hours after the meeting. Guess it helps to be prepared, right? Soooooo glad to see Football on the Teley. |

Date Posted: 08:46:18 08/12/13 Mon Our plans for the weddings are almost a lock. I just need to book the hotel rooms on the wedding nights. I'll be doing this very soon. Jono, I believe Newark Airport is the closest to Evan's wedding site (~30 mins driving). I'm not familiar whether taking a train or any thing else is an option. I was able to turn Vic's wedding into a business trip so a decent portion of my expenses won't be mine. For those in the DC area, it looks like we'll be staying at the Residence Inn Marriott in Old Town the 23rd-27th, and also the hotel at Vic's wedding site on the 25th. We are going to give our Marriott hotel room to my parents on the 25th and they are going to come down to watch Lena. Lukey, I'm still going to need to crash at your place on the 21st-22nd. I couldn't be more excited for these trips. I am not as much of a Mac power user as Hafer is but I can help answer any questions you might have depending on what you want to use it for. I still use Transmission as my torrent tool. I haven't done any video conversions to mp4 format in a while, but I do have something for that if you want me to check on that. Newer macs are supposed to be mirrorable to your tv via apple tv, so you should try that out. Good for that NFL Sunday Ticket mentioned a few weeks ago since I think that's only an online thing. Speaking of macs, I'll probably have to get a new one on one of my trips this year either in October or December. Let me know how you like the Air, Jono. I'll also be looking at the macbook pros. The twerking surfer girl's name is anastasia ashley. Her face can be found via the google images and it won't disappoint. Bubble butt! I wish I knew exactly what song she was listening too. Then I'd like to know if she'd like to come to Munich to surf in the river eisbach and for a coffe. Eisbach seen here: http://www.eisbachwelle.de/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/eisbach-muenchen-river-surfing-oktoberfest-wiesn-1.jpg Speaking of Lederhosen and Dirndls, I'll be going to my first Volksfest (mini Oktoberfest) of 2013 on Thursday. Tis the season to be merry and look ridiculous! Lena is doing well. She is off and on with good nights / not so good nights. Friday night she slept 6 hours straight for the first time. It was a miracle. This was followed by being up seemingly every hour on Saturday night. At 5am I said fuck it and just let her sleep on me for 2 hours. Another good night last night. She's still on the small side for an 8 week old so she's still feeding like a 4 week old. You are basically supposed to treat preemies age wise as if they were born on their due date. She's coming right along in other things though - smiling, observing and rolling over every now and then. We think she's around 8.5 lbs now. When she's not crying for food, she's been great. We received happy news from the Consulate this weekend that Lena is officially an American citizen. It is the second biggest event of her life so far. I have been out of the music biz for a while too. Need good music suggestions. The ones mentions the last couple weeks have been noted. I am in Tony's camp with respect to a gaming system. Though I'm not sure if I'll preorder to sell one. I might just wait until we move back to the states to buy one (~2 more years?). I'm not sure if I like the way Microsoft is modeling their system. I like what I've seen with PS4 but I've always been an xbox guy. Xbox's home media stuff should be impressive though. Should be interesting to see how it all pans out from the sidelines. Kate's sister and brother in law are in town through Friday and will conclude our 5 weeks of visitors. It's refreshing to have young people in town. Parents are a ton more work! I like some Vines, you can do some creative stuff. Ali's pacifier Vine is exactly what Vine was created for. Otherwise, there are some gems here and there buried in a ton of crap. Has anyone ever Snapchatted? I'm looking for someone who'd be interested in seeing my dong for 1 or 2 seconds. Digital swordfight anyone? Joe, I don't see how you don't make partner. Just keep on doing what you are doing. You'll be fine. Otherwise, I can always find you a job at Infineon. |

Date Posted: 08:19:53 08/12/13 Mon Nice post, Jono. Nice knowing what you have been up to lately. Really looking forward to seeing everyone in a few short weeks. This past weekend B was baptized and it was just a really great day. Lots of family showed up and B was her usually happy and relaxed self. Unfortunately, Ali is going back to work today. Her parents are in town and they are watching B until Wednesday - at which time B will start daycare. We are doing this with VERY conflicted feelings. We are going to see how things go for a few weeks before making a final decision on this. I then leave for Seoul on Saturday for a one day meeting (Tuesday). I will be back in the States on Wednesday. Nothing like traveling for 40 hours for what will likely be a 4 hour meeting. I hope to hit the driving range in my hotel a bunch to kill time. Things with my "partner project" are progressing but I am getting held up with people being slow and billable work. Also, I probably won't hear any news on my promotion until reviews in November (just need to be a little more patient). |

Date Posted: 22:45:04 08/11/13 Sun Hey friends! I'm very excited to see some of you in just about a month at Evan's BP. I haven't been to NYC in quite some time. Also, you guys will be there so that I've got that going for me, too. Should be a fun weekend. In the interest of saving myself some time, I'm going to stay at Joe's place on Friday night. From what I can gather, it'll be the easiest trip from/back to the airport for me. Life has been pretty sweet. Work is pretty brutal. 7:30-5:30 turns into 7-6 a lot of nights so it's busy during the week. I'm still doing pretty well and I like it a ton, so at least I know I made the right decision when I changed. I just submitted an abstract to speak at a conference in OKC in April, sort of against my will but at the request of my manager. After the NBA schedule came out, I found out SA will be in town during the conference so now I hope my abstract gets accepted and I get to speak so I can maybe catch a game there. The only downside will be that it's game 74/82 so it may not matter enough for the superstars to be playing all game. Lots of stuff has to happen before I even consider getting tickets, but it's fun to think about. The boys are wonderful. Lewis turned 1 on Friday and my family (ma, dad, older sister & her daughter) was in town from Wednesday until this afternoon, so that was pretty nice, too (other than having to work Thursday and Friday). William has suddenly turned into a bully towards his littler brother and a super two year old ball of attitude so that has been an awesome test of my patience and parenting skills. I have to remind myself every 2 minutes that he's 2 and this is normal or else I'd be in child abuse jail. Lewis' birthday party was Saturday and it went pretty well. It was baseball themed and turned out great. It helped that it was only 85 in early August so a lot of the kids that came could play outside. It's normally in the 100s in August so this was pretty all time. We had a ton of food left because like 5 couples w/ kids cancelled on Friday night, which is pretty fucking inconsiderate and rude. I've got names on lists now that I won't forget. I'm stunned by the lack of ettiquete. My huge fat belly is pumped though b/c I've had 10 hot dogs and 20 baseball shaped cookies and cupcakes in the past 2 days, though. Few other quick things: My birthday was a few weeks ago and my wife surprised me w/ a Macbook Air. I am enjoying it but it's taking me time to become a power user. I've just never put in the time to completely learn the ins and outs of the Mac OS but am trying to know. Any current users who can give me advice? (Heaves?) To answer a question from a while ago, Amy & I are likely arriving for Evan's wedding on Saturday morning, with no kids, and staying at the hotel that Evan suggested we stay. What's the best airport to fly into for that wedding? Is renting a car our only option from whichever airport (as opposed to a train or other form of public transportation)? I'm hoping you East Coasters can steer me in the right direction here. Amy will be wearing a nice dress, but nothing overly formal, Tony. Man, I am excited for football season to start. Everyone does Spotify, right? I only mention this because it is probably the greatest thing ever. I hadn't been listening to new music very much so I never cared to dive in when it first came out. Then Kanye's album came out and the musical beast inside of me was awakened. I just can't believe how much I love to be able to listen to any song I want at anytime I want. Twerking surfer girl was a phenomenal find. I wish I knew what she looked like, though. Also, having that video not available for mobile is one of my YouTube pet peeves. Really, guys!? Has anyone noticed that Vine is mostly shit? I flip through the "comedy" channel once a week and cannot believe the garbage that gets 100K+ likes on there. Vine funny apparently means yelling/acting a fool/saying "fuck" as your punchline b/c that is 90% of the "jokes" on there. I like clever shit and thought Vine would own that short, clever video lane but it is pretty much full of garbage. I will not be buying a new gaming system. I'm jumping off of that wagon until the boys are older and give a shit. I've wasted more money on those thing over the past 5 years than the time I've spent enjoying them. Glad to hear you new parents are getting in the groove. It keeps getting better until they are 2-2.5 and now it's back to sucking. Tony may have a different opinion/experience so I'll let him weigh in from a parent of 2 little ladies. |

In the winter time, his place feels like a sauna in all rooms of the house. Date Posted: 20:40:16 07/30/13 Tue Um, a little update at work that I just found out today. My General Manager, who is going to become the regional manager of New jersey and New York (and beyond) territories, told me that after a mega merger of all entities in NY and NJ, and then all other things after (including acquisitions and organic growth), which is pretty much happening very very soon, they are going to make the HVAC group almost its own entity, and I will be the General Manager of the group. He told me I will basically be responsible for all operations, P&L, and HR decisions and duties, and that my job is to lead, and not be a "Sales Manager" anymore, but to "Be a GM". If this actually happens, this will make me the youngest GM of a massive group as large as what our HVAC group will be ($250mm in about 5 years) in company history. Sorry - I had to tell somebody and no one else knows yet but Rena... Stoked for the BP and wedding. How is your mother, Hafer? |

I assume (at least) Jono and Hafer will be staying over Friday night too. My parents and sisters will be watching Lena. A2: I plan on staying at the hotel Joo told us to stay at. Though I haven't made reservations yet. A3: No, my tux is somewhere in storage. I'll be wearing a handsome but normal suit and Kate will be wearing a pretty but not uber fancy dress. |

Date Posted: 13:35:59 07/25/13 Thu so my mom had her follow-up today. she was diagnosed with stage ii(c) clear cell carcinoma. the biopsy results came back negative for all surrounding tissues (which is very good) and the general predicted outcome is positive (80% survival rate). she gets 2 ports put in and starts chemo around august 7/8. this is positive news as she could have been stage 3 (stuff spread to other tissues/areas of the body). i spoke with my dad, mom and bro (who flew down to listen in live) and they all seemed to be in good spirits. i think everyone is happy to know where she stands and what the next steps are. so there ya go. |

Date Posted: 07:05:51 07/25/13 Thu As of 9:50 this morning, the in-laws are gone but they were kind enough to leave us some headaches. I have a good relationship with them and they have huge hearts, but Kate's dad needs a lot of hand holding on a day to day basis, more so in a foreign country. And he doesn't listen. So it was like taking care of a kid on top of our new born. Stress-ful! We got him out of the apartment on solo missions as much as possible to keep our sanity in check. I was impressed with how much he did and how much got to see on his own. He was a machine. But he may have cost us 100's of Euros. First, on his first full day here, he lost our spare key to the apartment. This key is also used to open every common door in the building (entrance, trash, bike storage, etc.). The key is not a typical pin tumbler key but has some additional security features. So the key makers won't or, more likely, can't duplicate it. We are not sure to what extent we will have to pay. I see a few options, each more expensive than the next: (1) replace the key (2) replace our lock with a new set of keys (3) #2 + reconfiguring the entrance lock somehow (4) replace the entrance lock, our lock, everyone's keys in the 20 apartments in the building. I think it will be #3. Locksmiths are super expensive so hooray on that. The kicker is that we think he lost it in the apartment. I've been told he used the key to get into the apartment but couldn't find it when he went to leave again. We've looked everywhere and we now think he accidentally threw it away. The only good news is that if the key doesn't turn up, I won't be the one paying for the replacement. Second, he bought a weekly ticket for the subway system for each week that he was here. He was going to leave this week's ticket (good Monday - Sunday) for my parents to use to close out the week. Instead, he left us last week's ticket. Why he still had it I don't know. Not a huge deal, but it was a fitting end to his stay. Kate was also going to use this ticket to contest a fine. She got caught yesterday without a ticket but she told the officer she mistakenly left "her" weekly ticket at home. This weekly ticket is now either on a plane back to Monroe or in the trash. Sigh. Things should improve now that Kate's parents are gone and mine are here. My parents are typically a little more helpful, mostly because of the dads factor. Trying to get some good sleep has been brutal. More so for Kate, but I don't think I've slept 6 hours straight for 5 weeks due to the weather and the constant feedings. I like my room to be a crisp 69 degrees when sleeping. It's impossible to achieve this in the summer without AC. Also, Lena has been on a feeding frenzy lately -- taking the boob every 1-1.5 hours! Even though Kate let's me sleep for most week night feedings, I am still woken up by baby noises or Kate getting out of bed or a light turning on. Then, finding myself in a sweaty mess, it takes some time to fall back asleep. Don't get me wrong, Kate has got it much much worse, but I cannot wait until we get to the one-to-none feedings per night phase. Kettle bell workouts are going well. I'm at the 30 swing routine of the intro phase. I'm taking 2 weeks before going to the next level (20, 30, 40 and then 50 swings). Yesterday I got caught in a hail storm on my way home from work. The best part? I was on my bike. That stuff stings! Tomorrow we are going to the US consulate to make Lena an American. She's super excited! Looks like we have 6 possibles to definites for Ireland next year. My Irish buddy makes 7. Kate and his wife are thinking about tagging along but staying out of our way if/when we need them to. |

Date Posted: 11:20:24 07/16/13 Tue Joe, I agree that the (Durrrr,Robl,Galfond) story line would have better, but the filmmakers kinda got the rug pulled out from under them in regards to Black Friday. At that point I think they decided to tell the "real" story rather than just glamorizing that group of players. With that said, the AEjones segment about buying an island on eBay was awesome and I would have enjoyed hours of that. The girl that is featured in the doc lives about 15 min from me and the bar they show her working at (Rounders) is one of my go to spots for drinking/sports watching. I would guess she has $300K+ tied up on Full Tilt. |

Date Posted: 10:15:20 07/16/13 Tue A little recap since my complete lack of posting lately: 4th of July: Spent this whole week in Erie. I made sure to plan activities every day such as go to the beach, zoo, and amusement park. This kept us moving and prevented a week of wasting my life on the couch. Of course we continue to get about zero help from Jen's family with the kids so we were quite tired at the end of the week. I forgot how cheap things are in Erie. I think we spent more in gas driving there then we did while we were in town. Last Weekend: Jen had a friend in town visiting. Saturday we went to the crayola factory for the day. It's only about an hour from my house up in Easton. It wasn't bad. The kids were a little on the young side for it but they still thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Saturday I tried to make my lawn presentable while trying not to die in the heat. This weekend: Saturday is Humes' annual pig roast party. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody there. I'm also looking forward to Justin's mastery of large pig cooking by eating some tasty pork. On Sunday we head to Ocean City for the week. I'm not sure what my work schedule is yet so I might be heading back mid-week to get some work done or trying to work from the shore. I don't think I'll be making it to Ireland next year. It sounds really awesome and I'd like to do it in the future if they make another trip. Main reason for not going is that we are planning to go to DisneyWorld next April and I can't really swing two big vacations in the same year. Question: if you had to live with only coffee or beer for the rest of your life, which one would you choose? |

Date Posted: 09:34:00 07/16/13 Tue Vert, I watched this documentary early last week. I kinda wish that they went with the original story and covering the big money online pros. I really didnt care about how these people were affected by Black Friday. I'd much rather listen to interviews with Durr, Jungleman, the Tran brothers, etc. about how they went from $50 up to the nose bleeds and their thought processes along the way. The utter lack of regard for the value of money that these guys have is unreal. I thought that would be a more interesting documentary. Also, it stinks not having online p0ker anymore. It is hard to believe that it's been gone for two years. Heavener, you are the only one of us that could play it if you wanted to. |

Date Posted: 07:53:45 07/15/13 Mon so we went up to visit my mom saturday/sunday. she seems fine, looks fine, but is in some pain due to her surgery. she'll be in the hospital for a few more days before heading home. she then needs to rest for 2 weeks before meeting back up with the doctor to see what stage she's in and what the treatment structure will be. she's in good spirits and said to thank you all for the well wishes. as for ireland, i want to go. the only complicating factor may be our planned trip to frog land in june, so caruso may give me shit for going back to europe only a month after leaving. my intended messaging to this point is something along the lines of, "it's my money, woman. i'll spend it as i please!" if we get enough "solid" interest we should get a room now to avoid the hassle. |

Date Posted: 11:49:10 07/12/13 Fri Hafer, let your Mom know that I'm thinking about her. Hopefully, everything goes well. Butts and I are off to AC in a couple minutes for Matt's bachelor party this weekend. I'm looking forward to some golfing and poking. Did anyone watch the premiere of The Bridge this week. I was intrigued, given its strong reviews and the fact that fx has been putting out some quality programming recently. The premise is pretty cool, but I'm not sure how it will continue (a Mexican and a US detective working together) for a multi-season story arc. I thought the Mexican detective was really good, but I'm not sold on Diane Kruger's character yet. I know they are obviously making her have high-functioning Asperger's or something similar, but I found her to be kind of annoying and I'm not sure if that was purposeful. I'll give it a couple more episodes to see how it develops. As an aside, I recently read a novel about the girls of Juarez that has won a bunch of awards (2666); however, I did not enjoy it. Speaking of books, I have recently read The Leftovers ( http://www.amazon.com/The-Leftovers-Tom-Perrotta/dp/B0085RZGS6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373643843&sr=8-1&keywords=the+leftovers) and thought it was pretty good. Damon Lindelof is actually developing it as a series for HBO. I think that it would make for a good premise if they expanded the focus beyond one family. I've now begun reading The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao (http://www.amazon.com/Brief-Wondrous-Life-Oscar-Wao/dp/1594483299/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1373643971&sr=1-1&keywords=the+brief+wondrous+life+of+oscar+wao) and I'm really enjoying it. It's funny and well-written. It actually won the Pulitzer Prize. In a surprise to nobody, Michael Carter Williams has been absolutely dreadful in summer league thus far. |

That doesn't bode well for your enjoyment of the show. However, unlike many shows, the wire had a solid ending. So many shows anymore have good runs but ruin the endings (Lost, Battlestar Galactica, 30 Rock, etc.). In one month, we get to see how the Walter White saga ends. I am really hoping that it does not disappoint. |

Date Posted: 08:16:52 07/11/13 Thu just wanted to let everyone know that my mom has to have a full hysterectomy tomorrow. why? well, strap in... a few weeks back, my mom was driving back from a trip with some lady friends when she started to feel pains in her side. they got worse and my dad took her to the hospital where she was admitted for having 2 blood clots in her lungs. after a few days, they thought they had treated the problem and sent her on her way. my parents flew out to michigan to meet us and stayed for a few days after we left to do some sightseeing/touring around. the day after we left, my mom's leg swelled up again and she was admitted to the hospital. again. they did more tests/scans and discovered an orange-sized growth in her uterus. the doctor said these types of growths are usually benign but they can't be certain. she was discharged a day or so later and met with her doctor in lewisburg. he sent her to an obgyn who did some more tests, one of which came back a bit high (a marker test that is used to show likelihood of cancer) while others were fine. while this is going on, my aunt, who is a big shot at geisinger (the big hospital/health plan in central pa), pulled some strings and got my mom in for a meeting yesterday with the head of their obgyn/oncology department. he admitted her after doing some tests. the good news is that, after his physical inspection, he said my mom isn't presenting the symptoms that he normally sees in patients with ovarian cancer or cancer in general. that said, he can't be sure until they get the growth out and run a biopsy. so, today my mom has to get a colonoscopy to see if things look alright around there and then tomorrow she has her full procedure. essentially, they open her up, remove the growth, test it, if it comes back fine, they close her up and that's it, if it comes back positive, they keep looking and remove as much of what they find as possible and then she starts chemo as soon as possible. so that's where we are. my mom is doing surprisingly well, she's eager to get the procedure over with and behind her. my dad is the same. i'll keep everyone posted when i hear what's going on. don't make this a big deal, i just wanted to share so everyone knew. |

Date Posted: 11:47:22 07/03/13 Wed i jumped in on this - i sent all you fools referral emails so if you sign up do it through my referral. i started out losing money while learning the best strategy for these things and then finished out the tail end of the nba season making all my money back. Im quite confident I will be a winning player next season and future seasons with my strategies. I expect there to be a learning curve with football as well. some of the main things Ive come away with: - you need to do alot of entries so if youre willing to put in 20$ one day, do 20 1$ entries. You need to do this because of the variance. Its kinda like playing multi table tourneys for online po ker. Youre just trying to stay as close to break even as you can with as many "in the money" entries as you can until you hit a big score by finishing amongst the leaders ("final tabling"). - the main strategy for NBA is to utilize the very undervalued players due to an increase in playing time substituting for an injured player. Thus, you need to be in tune to the injury reports. If you arent going to be able to edit your entries 15-30 minutes prior to the tipoff of games you shouldnt be making any entries. |

They seem interesting enough and we are all pretty decent fantasy players when we are paying attention. I definitely plan to participate in these leagues during the NFL/NBA seasons and may start to test the waters during the next few months. Anyone have any experience yet? The thing holding me back to this point was being unsure regarding how they worked. |

Date Posted: 14:04:56 07/01/13 Mon another day, another psu football commit - http://goo.gl/0yTcp yes, so the garter ceremony at the wedding on saturday was.... umm... interesting. as is often the case, there were a bunch of little girls standing around trying to catch the bouquet (in addition to the usual pack of older, sad, desperate women). somehow, one of these little girls (it turned out she was 6) caught the flowers (she nabbed them from between the legs of a biiiiiiiiiig girl who couldn't quite bend over in time... she'll be alone forever). on the guys side, this old skeezy lookin' dude caught the garter (he was "that" uncle to the groom, the one that drinks a bit too much and was only invited because they were nice... he was also at least 55). welp, to complete the ceremony, he gets down in front of her and proceeds to put the garter around her calf...... before pausing and then quickly sliding it WAAAAAAAAAAAY up her thigh under her dress. he was delighted with his hijinks and walked off the floor all smiles. the little girl now has a fun story to tell her therapist in a few years. |

Date Posted: 08:33:04 07/01/13 Mon caruso and i headed out to grand rapids on thursday for bridget's wedding. my rents met us out there so: 1) my mom could check another state off her list of states to see; and 2) babysit hanna while we went to the wedding on saturday/sunday. grand rapids is a very nice city: super clean, the people are friendly, and there are a bajillion really good microbreweries. we stayed at the amway grand hotel which was pretty silly and easily walked to everywhere we had to go. i think, at the end of the day, part of the reason i liked the trip was because we got nowhere near the shit holes that are east lansing and the whore. 3 day week for me. caruso has hernia surgery friday morning at 6 am so it's going to be me and big gay frank watching the baby child for the next several days. we'll be just like joo and his "partners". my one comment on the nba draft - the patriot league got a guy drafted in the top 10. hooray! not only that, 2 guys from the league were drafted overall (bucknell's double m got drafted by the mavs in rd 2 and traded to the hawks). boobs. |

Date Posted: 19:09:35 06/28/13 Fri I love the Sixers trade. Stink for Wiggins. Jrue was good enough to make sure the Sixers hovered around .500. With him gone, we should suck real bad. I hope we trade some more players before the season starts. I also hope that we hire Whoopie Goldberg to coach the team. Hinkie sees the big picture. The only way to get good in this league is to free up cap space ... suck ... and hope you win the lottery. I have no idea what the Nets are doing but its going to be great to see that shit show next year. Evan, thanks. Just grindin' away. I hope things are all resolved by the weddings this fall. The magazine is not that impressive. I will throw pics up on Twitter this weekend. Saw Man of Steel, hated it. Saw this is the end, loved it. |

I fully support the Sixers going full tank mode (like the Celtics) and having two lottery picks in next year's stacked draft. If they don't move Turner, a backcourt of MCW and Turner would be dreadful - a bunch of turnovers and bricked jump shots. You can tell Hinkie learned from Morey with the way he operates. It's nice having a GM whom I am confident that sees the big picture. Man, the Eastern Conference should be fun next year. |

Date Posted: 09:30:16 06/27/13 Thu Lukey -- you better believe it! She takes after her Pa in so many ways. Ears, brow and philtrum just to name a few. She started her weight gain and should be up to or passing her birth weigh in a day or two. Weight gain = eating more = pooping more. My next project is getting Lena registered in Germany and then getting her US citizenship and a passport. She will not be a German citizen because neither Kate nor myself are German. This weekend I'm participating in a fun run "color run" where you run 5K and get colored flour hurled at you. It's the first one in Germany but there have been plenty in the US already. I think ToughMudder is also coming to Munich in the Spring of 2014. Hernandez doesn't seem like he thought this murder thing all the way through. Call me a pessimist but he's effed. Joo -- way to go! Date Posted: 05:59:09 06/27/13 Thu Heaves, does Lena take after her Dad and just poop wherever she damn well pleases? Man, this Aaron Hernandez murder really fucks my fantasy team for next season. He needed to learn from Ray Lewis and just make all the evidence disappear, not turn it over to police smashed to pieces - what a moron. I don't really have any quality keepers for next season now. Do I retain his keeper rights if he's sent to jail for 20 years? I am pumped for the NBA Draft tonight. Due to the absence of "franchise players," it is really up in the air where everyone is going. I also think there could be a lot of trades, which would be exciting. The Sixers better not draft Adams or Olynyk. It will be interesting to see what the Heat do this offseason. They won't move Wade, even though they probably should (he and Lebron have too similar of games that they kind of get in each other's way on the offensive end), just because he is the face of the franchise. Wade was obviously hurt this postseason, but at this point in his career and with his style of play, I don't think you can every count on him being healthy going forward. He can still be a beast on the glass and the defensive end, but he has never expanded his offensive game to include even a viable mid-range jumper. Bosh's salary cap hit is crippling for a guy who is basically a spot up shooter. He is soft on the boards and can't guard anyone in the post, so I can't see many teams taking on his salary. It was proven in Toronto that you can't build a winning team around him. While on the NBA, Joe, I don't think that I was ever paid for dominating the NBA Playoff fantasy game :) It was a really cool game and, now that we know about it, I think we should be able to get more players next year. |

Plans to merge our entities in NY and NJ have accelerated beyond rapidly. The merge went from possibly happening in a year or so to this November. As a result, I am being promoted to running all of HVAC for the group, which will cover 3 subsidiaries based in NY and NJ, plus any other companies we acquire. In short, I will be running a division that brings in over $250mm in sales a year, which is bigger than most General Manager positions. I'd still rather be a partner. Date Posted: 16:20:39 06/19/13 Wed His offensive skill set is very small compared to his defensive. He can guard anyone, anywhere but really only bothers offensively when he has a mismatch. I understand he's an efficient scorer, but his lack of volume negatively impacts the team because they have few other options. That said...Dwight Howard, KG & Lebron on the same team in offensive crunch time would be hilarious. |

Date Posted: 14:13:58 06/19/13 Wed That game 6 was fun to watch but I am a bit disappointed in that I want the spurs to win the series so bad. I think id sacrifice a game 7 for the spurs victory. Im still unimpressed with Lebron. His game has definitely evolved a ton over the last couple years but I still feel like he disappears at times and doesnt have that killer instinct. Yes, he FINALLY decided to take control in the 4th quarter but even then I never got the same feeling watching him as I did when jordan and kobe got in their "there is no way I am letting us lose" zone. The big problem with lebron is he still doesnt have a pull up jumper he can confidently go to when a team packs the lane and says no way is he getting to the basket. In an isolation situation jordan could drive, push off with his other hand, step back, and nail a 18 foot jumper. Lebron just doesnt really have that in his arsenal right now. Everytime he is in iso it pretty much goes dribble a bunch of times wasting the shot clock, make a strong drive (usually right), if he doesnt get to the rim jump into the guy, and bitch if he doesnt get a foul call. As for the spurs what a well run organization. Even once ginobili, duncan, and parker are done, asumming they can keep the talent they have now, they should still be competitive. Dont forget they still got Lorbek stashed away in Europe. He signed an extension last year so hell be in europe till 2016 but the fact that his extension made him one of the highest paid players in euro ball tells you what kind of potential he has. At the same time, it also tells you that the spurs may never be able to convince him to come over. But the fact that they have the possibility to swap Duncan out with him a few years down the line is what makes the spurs so great. Im excited for anchorman but also nervous that they are putting out trash to simply cash in on the popularity of the first one. Im praying this isnt the case. For me a shitty sequal(s) always affects how I view the original. Taken, Matrix, Hangover, etc. I did watch one of the funniest movies ive seen in awhile the other day in "This is the End". If you havent yet, you should definitely check it out. |

I plan on getting 8 tonight. I went into the office today after visiting at the hospital this morning. There's nothing for me to do there other than sweat. I will take a few days off once Kate and Lena are discharged (date to be determined). Since Lena is only at 5.5 lbs they may want to keep her a day or two extra to make sure she doesn't lose too much weight. On the other hand, she is feeding well so who knows. The rents already had their plane tickets booked for July so we are on our own until then. Kate's mom almost rebooked for earlier but it would have been $1100+ extra to do so. So Kate's parents will be here July 11 for two weeks, then my parents for 2 weeks and then Kate's younger sister for one week. I think it's for the best though because we will have our own time with her before we have to share. The extra sleep at that point will be very welcome. |

It's supposed to be neat-er than Munich, which I guess isn't saying much. Munich itself is pretty vanilla....on so many levels. The baby passed with flying colors. She's still a girl (always nice to have a second opinion). But there are clearly no man parts. It looks like I will have to take my 2 months off of partial paid leave within the first 14 months. I'm now hoping that the baby comes about 2 weeks late so that my leave time overlaps completely with Oktoberfest 2014. If she comes on-time, I should at least be able to spend some time in Ireland for the Penn State game which is getting closer and closer to becoming reality. (PS I'm going to do that anyways). Date Posted: 05:40:26 06/11/13 Tue I introduced the Germans to beer pong over the weekend. I was supreme; they were terrible. It's a crazy game when you have to think about (and explain) all the rules that go into it. Other than that, it's business as usual over here. Kate is a few days away from full term. We have a checkup tomorrow at the maternity ward and then we have an appointment at a parent counseling center to get info about our parental leave options according to German law. What we hope is that we get a total of 14 months of paid parental leave, to be taken within the first 3 years of our rascal's life. The plan is for Kate to take 12 months right away and for me to take 2 months right before we bounce back to the US. Kate being employed by a US company complicates the process, or maybe not, and so that is primarily what we will try to find out. The weather has improved dramatically. We are now in the 70's as we should be. I am about 4 episodes behind on Game of Thrones. It's recorded at a friend's so we will probably wait until the weekend to catch up. I hope the red wedding is a good as all the headlines I've been avoiding lead me to believe. |

Date Posted: 00:10:21 06/11/13 Tue Joe, I'm going to the practice round as well. Hopefully the course isn't underwater and/or a swamp and the greens get a chance to dry out before the tournament. I'll be interested to see the rough; I hear it is nasty. |

Date Posted: 14:17:05 06/10/13 Mon I am headed out to Merion for the practice round tomorrow. It should be awesome. I am going to take a bunch of pictures. Cell phones are not permitted so I will not be able to tweet/vine. Friday, I went to the bowling banquet. We won $465 each for our team efforts this year. Saturday, chilled with B. Sunday, chilled with B and went to Tired Hands. |

Date Posted: 12:29:07 06/05/13 Wed Good point. Unfortunately, my love for Love died when she dated Jamie Kennedy. I could not believe that Malibu's Most Wanted was banging her. Her stock took a major hit at that point. Then, she became Jennifer Love Chewitt. She still holds a special place in my heart but the love has been gone for a while. |
