Date Posted: 09:48:53 03/31/14 Mon psu now has the #2 recruiting class in the country (behind tix-us a&m). franklin and company picked up 2 more this weekend. for more, see below. psu also lost one of its few experienced o-linemen for the season. miles diffenbach blew out his knee which makes the already thin o-line that much thinner. hopefully, hack can run. Steven Gonzalez, 4*, OG Penn State added a lineman to its Class of 2014 on Saturday, as Union City (N.J.) Top247 offensive guard Steven Gonzalez committed to the Nittany Lions while on campus for an unofficial visit. The 6-foot-3, 300-pound prospect chose the Nittany Lions over scholarship offers from Boston College, Michigan State, Ohio State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Virginia, Wisconsin and others. Gonzalez is the No. 70 player overall in the country according to 247Sports and is the No. 3 offensive guard nationally. He checks in as the No. 3 prospect in the state of New Jersey. The junior prospect is a 2015 Under Armour All-American Bowl selection. He was a second team all-state offensive lineman in 2013 in addition to first team all-group, all-county and all-league offers. He becomes the Nittany Lions' 10th commitment in the Class of 2015 and the second offensive lineman, joining Top247 guard Ryan Bates. He is the second Top100 commitment from New Jersey for the Nittany Lions in the class. Josh Barajas, 4*, ILB Merrillville (Ind.) Andrean Top247 linebacker Josh Barajas committed to Penn State on Sunday. Barajas's coach told 247Sports on Thursday morning that he thought the Irish were still in front. Another huge win for Penn State on the recruiting trail. "I was still debating," Barajas said. "They were neck and neck the whole ride." Rated by 247Sports as the nation's No. 2 inside linebacker, Barajas also held offers from the likes of Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin. Notre Dame led after Barajas's visit on March 1, but the tide changed when Barajas visited Happy Valley last weekend. "Really it was when I was there I knew that was the one," Barajas said. Barajas told his future head coach James Franklin on Sunday. "He was practically having a party in the coaching office," Barajas said. "He was excited man." So is Barajas. He is commit No. 11 for the Nittany Lions in the class-of-2015 and the eighth to hold four-star status either by 247Sports or the 247Sports Composite Ratings. "I just felt comfortable," he said. "The way the coaching staff just treated me. I feel like they're going to do big, big things over there." Barajas said he is done with the recruiting process and he won't visit Notre Dame on April 12. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
