"end it"? I can understand how after this ep you'd want the damn show to be over, but end it for good? I can see ending the series after S8 and then continuing on with movies where there's not the pressure to produce.

It *is* nice to see someone who's optimistic about S8. I hope I'll be able to join you in a little while. I don't know that CC will produce because "his back's against the wall" I think his abducting Mulder was pretty lame and that his impregnating Scully (not literally!!!!!) was a cheap way to get fans to watch a show that seems to have run its course creatively.

Your point 4-- I think Scully said "I have to" but yeah, it was intended to make us listen closely.

I totally agree that we need the old mythology back and that many of the decisions made by CC were in hopes of boosting ratings. (Even having GA and DD do their own eps (which actually didn't turn out that great, I know think) was less for the creative spirit of the X-files than it was for drawing fans with sensationalism.)
