Subject: Funnily enough I just watched it this week. I always liked the storyline and the way they presented the issue. It must have been the only time Mac sides with a woman who broke the rules. INSIDE

I think she took the Lieutenant's stance as disrespect for the customs of middle eastern countries (don't forget that Mac, like CB has Persian roots), and might have been insulted. She's also majored in Political Science, was in effect a diplomat, so the Lieutenant's bluntness must have rubbed her the wrong way, but when she was put in the same situation, she understood the frustration and changed her mind. That wasn't usually her position when faced with women breaking the rules.

I think Mac was very by-the-book because it was a defense mechanism for her. It gave her structure and probably kept her sober. And it allowed her to put up walls when she wanted to.

I really think this is one of the better eps from that time period. Great character development for Mac.

[> [> [> I agree with you Chief, as a recovering alcoholic Mac needed clear structures, like the UCMJ and the strict regimentation of the Marine Corps. When she accuses Harm of being a control freak in "Lifelines", he had the perfect precedent of pot vs kettle, but he didn't use it (to his credit). -- yiota, 17:08:32 02/10/15 Tue
