Core: You said the 49ers didn't make any adjustments until they were down by 25 points. I thought the 49ers went into the no-huddle when they took over the ball with 3:10 eft in the first half, and the score 21-6...a two touchdown game? The problem is, Garcia threw an INT...game over.

On defense, they made their first adjustment when Plummer got knocked out on the fifth play. They made their next adjustment when Duane Hawthorne got injured...that is when they loaded up on safeties and had Tony Parrish in man coverage. He got burned and it became apparent they couldn't cover the receivers...not an admission the players were anxious to hear (talk about a vote of no confidence), so Mora began blitzing the next series...and Pittman swept left, away from the blitz, and picked up 24 yards to the 4 yard line.

Wher was Terrell Owens? I know that everyone likes to quote Mariucci's famous words that "we throw it to who I say we trow it to," but then why didn't Garcia checkdown to Owens? What did everyone think of Garcia's audible when he detected a blitz (that never came). He rolled out right...how predictable...and the Bucs' had the area flooded. Garcia didn't even look back to see two receivers (including Owens) wide open in the middle of the field, 15-20 yards deep.

I won't argue this any further, but I am going to say it just to get it off my mind: "Garcia is not a very good pocket passing, WCO quarterback." He is a backup being asked to carry an offense with key missing weapons and a fiesty but limited offensive line. He excells when things break down against tired or ineffective defenses...but he is not equiped to take control of a game from the start against a very good defense. Not consistantly.

Just ask yourself...how much seperates him and Tim Rattay or Cade McNown? If it isn't much, would it be unreasonable to trade him? How would want him, and what would they give us for him? Honestly? Could Donahue get a first? From which team? Cincinnati desperately needs a QB, but they would rather have the #1 pick and their choice of Leftwich or Palmer. Chicago? Don't hold your breath. Carolina? Hah!

What about Hearst? He clearly isn't the future. Barlow was virtually forgotten in the playoffs. Could Hearst be traded for a first day pick?

Lets face it guys, other teams don't covet our stars (other than Terrell Owens). He is the only guy on our offense that another team would give us first round picks for.

Hey, I am an equaly opportunity trader. I would let Steve Mariucci go to, for draft picks...not because he sucks or has short comings. The 49ers need talent! I am telling you, this team needs more impact players. We aren't going to get to the next level with the 26th pick in the first round. Donahue needs to be as aggressive as everyone wants Mariucci to be. The fact that we have the same needs this offseason that we had last offseason tells me that Terry Donahue didn't do all that he needed to do last March-June, 2002.

GBN Reports writes: "Jacksonville owner Wayne Weaver is being quoted as saying that the Jaguars would be very retiscent about giving up any draft picks in order to sign a new coach. Weaver didn't mention Mariucci by name as he is
still under contract with the 49ers, but Weaver did indicate that he feels that the Jaguars roster, which has been decimated by salary-cap induced free agent losses the past few years, simply has too many holes to fill to give up any draft picks."

That paints the picture fans. You need the talent, not just the coach. Weaver gets it. Too bad so many Niners fans don't.
