I remember reading about how proud York was that the 49ers finally had a budget. Well below is an interesting note from profootball weekly....

Picking up where we left off in this space last week regarding the status of head coach Steve Mariucci, there is one other very important factor we neglected to mention that will determine his future other than the size of the contract the Niners offer him. We hear Mariucci is also very concerned about the direction the team will be taking under owner John York, who hasn’t provided much of an insight along those lines except to stress how budget-conscious he is. We hear Mariucci will want to know what resources he will have at his disposal. Interestingly, eight of Mariucci’s assistants, including offensive coordinator Greg Knapp, could leave when their contracts expire in less than a month. York said all eight assistants were offered extensions last year, and we hear most of them rejected the offers because there were few or no provisions for pay raises.

Wow. I know we've been whining about Mooch not being Walsh and Garcia not being Montana. What about York not being Eddie D???

I guess this answer's TANK'S question about why we saved all that cap space money last season!!!
