I understand that Rice, Sapp and Co. were carving up the O-Line like a cheap Christmas Turkey and Garcia's neck was spinning around like a nuclear powered top. The problems are much deeper than the 10-7 season showed. For starters, the owners are just inept as owners with NO football Savvy. I just hope we don't head into a Joe Thomas era. If these owners keep Mooch the team will just slide further. I realize that with the salary cap issue we were forced to suck it up but really, apart from Peterson, and maybe our nominally successful 7th round tight end Johnson, who else has distinguished themselves in the last couple of drafts? There has to be a flaw with the drafting.
Hence, managements desire to draft by character instead of talent. It has been this way since the '86 draft and with the exception of BY, who's still around? (Stubby doesn't count since he left and came back). Remember Druckenmuller?
No, management has let down the franchise with their approch to drafting.
The team has NO Leadership, NO Direction, and worst of all, NO Desire. We will need a new direction, a no nonsense approach to the personnel. What this team needs is to throw out the wine and cheese mentality and bring in a lunch bucket and jackhammer-take-no-prisoners! approach.
First, we will need to pass out a bunch of pink slips. Sorry Garcia, your just a $10 chip on a $25 dollar table. You can get to the table but you will never be able to cover bet. After that, bring in the talent that will be able to cut through the league like a rabid chainsaw. We have got to do something. Everyone will have to grab a mirror and ask themselves...Am I needed?
