Two hours he'd been waiting. Drinking and waiting. And fuck all if he wasn't sick of waiting! Giving up on the idea that anyone was coming to claim him and show him exactly where the hell he was supposed to be going. He'd been given this adress as a wait point and told that Amir would be down to fetch him and take him up the mountain so he didn't 'get lost or kill himself on the roads'. He'd been on the road for most of the day and he really just wanted a bit of shuteye. So if no one could be bothered to come get him, he'd go find some place to hole up for the night and the fuckers could come and find his ass!
Tucking a twenty under his glass, he hauled himself from the old chair, pulling on his dark jacket and headed for the door. Wasn't even hardly anyone around, this place was so dead, so it wasn't like Amir could claim to have been waylaid by traffic or some such. Dude was just fucking rude to stand a man up so fully! Pulling his keys from his jacket pocket, he strode easily across the empty street, noticing how sorely his raptor stood out amongst all the older model cars and trucks in this town. He was pretty sure that the sedan he'd parked behind was the newest thing he'd seen since he'd gotten here, and it was still bordering on old in his book. Might be a good idea to set his alarm while he was in town. Pale gaze dropped to the rarely used fob attached to his trucks single key, wondering if the battery was even any good.... Motion caught his peripheral vision, drawing his gaze to the alley on the other side of his truck. Though he hadn't actually caught what had happened, something about the way those three were converging on something had his hackles up and his frown deepening. Had he stopped to think, he would have realized this was the stupidest idea ever. But it was almost as if something pushed him past his truck and into the mouth of the alley. Not that anyone would have noticed, with the intensity of the interest in whatever was on the ground there...
Then he caught the motion, caught the flash of red hair that clearly didn't belong to any of the men. And he was in motion, continuing into the alley, steady and smooth as he neared the group at a deliberate pace. And as he got near enough to act, he got a clear glimpse between the heavy male bodies to the slim feminine one beneath it all. Hand reached out, wrapping around the collar of the nearest male and yanking him backwards. Now Paige wasn't exactly a massive guy, but it didn't take all that much to throw a body off balance, especially when surprise was on your side. He'd been through his fare share of brawls, but three on one might be pushing it. But he couldn't exactly walk away from what was happening either. It was a long shot, but he always had the utility knife on his keys if he needed to get truely dirty...
