Uh yeah....
Anyway, WOW there is no getting through to you is there!
The "real life" reason George Lucas used the term laser is because he figured the audience would be confused by any weird terms like "laser induced antiproton pariticle energy emmission array" or something even worse! And "phaser" was already taken. So give the guy a break, hell back in '77 did you even know what a L.A.S.E.R. was!
