Another question…when would it end? “I am unsure…we split into groups – about a hundred in each.” She told him, her patience wearing thin. It was obvious that he was trying to pry information from her –to learn of a possible threat and army to conquer. Yet, another power hungry leader to rule this part of the world. However, she could not understand what brought about his keen interest in her people. What could he gain from them? They owned no land…nothing but the spirits of warring souls.

Then his questions were broken up by a surprising anger that caught her off guard. She gave him a look of confusion as he yelled at her; what had she done wrong now? Silently, she punished herself for making the king angry –of course she had been nothing but utterly defiant and stubborn to begin with, though she couldn’t help it. Baylina did not even bother to apologize or try to set things straight, sometimes it was better to let others think what they wanted…regardless of the consequences.

Bay’s good eye registered on the guard as he stepped forward to challenge her at the king’s order. Wow, she had really done a nice job at pissing someone off this time. Now was her chance to prove herself, but was it really worth it? ‘One stroke of the sword and I no longer suffer…’ She thought to herself; it tempted her more than anything in the world, but Baylina knew that she had not survived that harsh battle only to die at the hands of a guard. “Then I shall.” She told him nonchalantly, no longer caring if she angered him or not –the deed; after all, had been done.

She stood up, jumping back to where she could keep her opponent within full view at all times. Bay tuned herself in to the others, making sure that the king did not attempt to surprise her from behind –a cruel and dirty trick that could easily be ordered from him. The guard before her was underestimating her, and she knew it. Slyly, she did not grab for her two boomerangs, keeping them hidden still until she found it right to use them. Bay intended on letting the guard believed he had the upper hand…he would believe that she really had been telling lies, and his swordsmanship would get sloppy –that was when Bay would make her move.

Until that moment arrived, Bay was prepared to dodge like hell. Hopefully she could summon the will to battle once again, though she had lost her heart back in the lands of the Sarmatians.
