Subject: Back in the early 70's I worked at a Playboy club - in the office! Even in those days the costume would not fit me! More...
In reply to: jenks 's message, "Well, I see the hatchets are already out and The Playboy Club has been cancelled after 3 episodes. Cibrian is not bad on the eyes, but what frosts me the most is that a Parental TV Group was right on the trail to axe it. What are the kids doing up at that hour? It didn't have the ratings in the 18-49 group!! Well, I'm well beyond that group and I count. Just sounding off..." on 08:41:45 10/05/11 Wed

It wasn't just a men's club - I went one time with a group of women to see a show. Most of the bunnies were very nice hardworking girls, and let's face it, they were glamorized cocktail waitresses. And unlike regular waitresses, they had to wear high heels. The wages were waitress wages - like all waitresses they were expected to depend on tips. And the costumes were torture - many of the girls had to "enhance" the top, not because they weren't well endowed, but because of the fit. There were stays in the middle that squeezed and pinched. Also, clients were not allowed to touch - it could get them thrown out.I didn't get a chance to watch because of the time, so I don't know anything about the show. I suppose the clubs "objectivized" women, but they worked them hard too.

[> I think one of the things about TPC getting axed that really irritates me is this parents' group. Whatever takes place at 10:00 is supposed to be more adult oriented and I've seen worse at 9:00. If your 16 yr.+ older is watching it in HIS/HER room, then who's to blame? One problem we have these days is all the kids with TVs in their rooms so parents can watch what they want in the den/living room. TPC ratings may have been low, but three episodes does not constitute ditching it. DVRs are going all the time. -- jenks-another sound-off, 08:42:56 10/07/11 Fri [1]

[> [> i hate central time - every where else 10pm programs air at 10 - why is central time zone the lucky ones who have to watch 9 & 10 pm adult programs at 8 & 9. I've always disliked that. as for tvs in the bedrooms - I'm probably one of the few people of my generation who refused to let my kids have 'entertainment' in their rooms - we had an office with the computer we all shared- though now everyone has a laptop- & the only tvs were in the living room & our master bedroom. I'd worry about a lot of other things on tv if I were the parents group - and I'm a conservative parent!! -- chris k, 01:55:05 10/08/11 Sat [1]
