Subject: where has great comedy gone?

I'm watching PBS - and there was a routine by Carol Burnett that made me think of Harm

She's introduced to Robert Goulet -

She says - i saw you in camelot- you were WOnDERFUl - so handsome - A knight in shining armour - Oh how I wish I had a can opener!!!

The delivery was wonderful - Reminded me of harm - our knight in shining armor - and wouldn't I have loved a can opener!! LOL.

[> Loved Carol Burnett, for both the comedy and the musical they put on each week. Oh yeah, the classic Gone with the wind, when she comes down the stairs with a dress made from the curtains. She had the curtain rod sticking out of her shoulders, and that famous line, "I saw it in the window and I just had to have it!" -- Still lauighing Cece, 02:48:16 01/19/13 Sat [1]

[> Part of the great comedy from the '60s/'70s was that the shows were performed in front of LIVE studio audiences. The feedback between performer and audience builds a certain energy that can't be captured just with cast and crew in a closed studio. -- The Chief, 14:34:51 01/22/13 Tue [1]

[> [> ITA, Chief. The Carol Burnett Show was such a great example of that, too. Her interaction with the audience at the beginning of the show was often priceless, too. -- Matou/Carol, 22:09:04 01/22/13 Tue [1]
