Subject: I just finished re-watching all ten seasons of JAG, it took a couple of months for me to complete but finished it today. I really do miss that show! One thing I thought of though when it was over is that DJE certainly has not come into any recurring tv series since. I wonder if he regrets ending his role as Harm? CB has certainly done better landing recurring series between Army Wives now filming season 7 and her Good Witch movies. What in the world happened to David?

[> These are just my thoughts - 1. choices made of what material they have chosen, CB seemed to have picked winners and DJE bombs,..2. Seems that Mrs DJE has had to star in most of his films and I bet that has put some off in using him......3. DJEs more money want, I am sure that CB has called for higher paychecks but she has become a worth wild investment where DJEs not so great choices has brought down what he is worth. again these are my opinions -- DOS, 22:17:03 01/02/13 Wed [1]

[> he did make a couple of hopeful choices. The first series Close To Home should have been good for his career but the show lost its footing. CBs first series i forget the name of it -some sci fi thing was cancelled after her first ep. So some of it is more luck than choices - And you can't blame him for taking a part in a show with Annie Potts and Christian Chenowith - who wouldn't want to work with them? I just would like to see him in something that shows his serious side as well as his tender side - I loved the Harm eps with heart - like yeah Baby, Answered prayers, and in country. -- chris k, 12:56:40 01/03/13 Thu [1]

I agree that luck had a lot to do with it. He was cast in three good, major roles in three different shows that had promise, but were cancelled (Close to Home, Scoundrels, and GCB). I would say four shows, but very few of us ever got to see the pilot for Sixty Minute Man, so I don't know if it was any good or not. And don't forget his recurring role on one of the L&O's. It was cut short when GCB got picked up. Maybe he can appear on that show again? We hope?

I have to point out that he has done several movies that were very good. A quick look at imdb.com will show just how busy the man has been.

As for his cancelled shows, I have to say that we all know how quick the networks are to cancel good shows that don't get ratings through the roof on the first airing. Wonder how many old favorites would have been cancelled too soon in this day and age?

[> [> [> I guess my tastes are just different and I couldnt get into any of the new shows he was on, they all seemed forced by the cast to make them funny and they fell flat to me and after 1 ep went back to what I liked, I did give GCB a second chance but again after 15 minutes I had to turn the channel. As for movies again, none of them were all that great and the one Sci fi movie he did was awful. Now then CBs few movies I like the Good Witch, not into her Bermuda Triangle movie and love Army Wives. I am not saying that all of hers were winners either but I was captured by the ease of the cast -- DOS - who would like to see him on TV but I dont even like CSI NY to just see him, 08:49:50 01/04/13 Fri [1]

[> I haven't cared that much for either of their choices. DJE was "okay" in Close To Home and the amnesia movie, but neither were of the caliber of JAG. I haven't liked any of his other shows/movies. CB's 1st & 2nd movie in the Good Witch series was cute, but then the series suffered from what kills all movie series, "beating the dead horse of initial success." I hate Army Wives, but then I hate most of the programming on "Lifetime for Whiney Women." I would still love to see the duo in the Kay Scarpetta--Benton Wesley roles. [> [> I agree about the Good Witch movies. Inside -- JJ Ronda, 20:57:48 01/04/13 Fri [1]

They were cute, fun, romantic, warm and fuzzy type movies and I enjoyed them, but I would probably never watch any of them again, not with so many other good old movies out there that I want to see. DJE also had a couple of cute, fun, romantic, family movies (Dad's Home, Truth Be Told) that were similar in style and just as good as the Good Witch movies, IMO. In fact, I'd say they were better, because I would consider watching those two movies again, but I probably would not consider watching any of the Good Witch movies again, even though I truly liked them. I can't really speak for Army Wives, because I haven't watched it, but I just can't see holding up the Good Witch movies as being *that* much better than what DJE has done. JMHO

...Benton was supposed killed & his face found in freezer by Kay. I think the readers threw a fit, because a couple books later we learn he is in witness protection. They end up back together, but after that, everyone seems so unhappy, I kind of quit reading. I think Patricia Cornwell lost her drive to write, because her last few books have been weaker. I figure a producer could get rights to the books & then use writers to continue in the vein of the beginning 1/2 of the Scarpetta series. I think DJE & CB could really sell those roles!!!!

[> DJE was perfect as Harm - he gave the character equal measures of swagger and heart. A true hero and a great guy. It was the perfect casting. (More Inside) -- The Chief, 22:56:03 01/04/13 Fri [1]

I watched "Holiday Affair" today (I usually watch during the holidays) and he was really good as Steve Mason - sexy, funny, drop-dead-gorgeous - and if Jodi had been "available", he would have shown much more assertive flirting and "girl-getting", a skill at which DJE excels ;-) He was also excellent in "Degree of Guilt". He does well as confident good guys in some form of military or law enforcement, a leadership role, and as a "lady killer". I think he should have taken more roles like that, even tho he might have been worried about "type-casting". Type casting worked well for many other classic Hollywood actors, and that is more DJE's style (classic movies).

[> [> You're right, Harm was the perfect character for DJE. He plays the hero, good guy well. I would like him in any "well written" series in which he's the "good guy," out to save the "little guy," be it as a lawyer, doctor, military, etc. That's why I think he would be good playing Benton Wesley. He plays the intellectual roles well, especially when he's out to help/save society. He has a good sense of humor, and a little bit of comedy like he did in JAG was perfect, but with all comedy, he comes of as a goofy dork. -- doc, 12:16:31 01/05/13 Sat [1]

Not just CB, a whole list of lovely faces that would have still been lovely had they been allowed to age. The lifted brows giving a surprised look, the too thin nose jobs, the cheek implants, the too tight jowel lift, the botoxed foreheads, and collagen lips. What are these actors going to look like as they age? On the bright side, a whole bunch of British and American actresses are starting to speak out against it, and are letting themselves go au naturelle. A bit of not so obvious work I'm okay with.

I know in the Hollywood youth culture, it's hard for mature actresses to get work, but they still are not going to get work looking so fake, and still not young. I don't mind corrective surgery or a bit of subtle work, where it doesn't look obvious. Look at all the working actresses who I think are fabulous: Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, etc. Check out this article Click here. I know that some Hollywood actresses have joined this group.

CB fans, don't bother yelling at me. If I hadn't liked her so much, I wouldn't care. imo, she would have aged beautifully without doing anything.
