Author: jenks-who gets younger watching it
Subject: How about Dallas? JR hasn't changed a bit and I'm loving it. JR was never one of my favorite people, but he sure knows how to stir the pot. Then there's John Ross and Cliff Barnes with his big money. Of course, Miss Ellie's diary planted so nicely and what about Bobby selling South Fork. Dallas is back!!

[> Like it said in the french song written for the Dallas from the 80's for the french TV : " Dallas ton univers impitoyable ! " ( " Dallas your cut-throat world " ) We also use an expression in France : " C'est Dallas ! " ( " It's Dallas ! ") : who refers about aperson or several persons who is/are in a fantastic/incredible position. ' Dallas ' is nearly more used than ' rocambolesque ' in english : ' fantastic/incredible ', I think to remember than in France we begin to use this expression at the end of the late 90's start of the 00's. -- Laurence, 13:46:27 06/23/12 Sat [1]

[> I did watch the old version, though I came in after the big Who Shot JR? frenzy. (Today, cliffhangers are just expected and no big deal.) I watched the new version, but I'm a bit fed up with the politically charged oil v green theme. How come it's the BAD guys that are drilling for oil, and the GOOD guys who want to make everything into a park? That kind of polar opposition (not to mention bias), on a complex, contemporary, and divisive subject, irritates me. So I don't think I'll watch anymore. (I do like the hunky young Canadian actor who plays Christopher! -- Cece, wondering why Canada disproportionately turns out so many hot guys., 14:22:22 06/24/12 Sun [1]

[> [> ITA, Cece. It's been the only thing about this series that irritates me, but honestly, just about everything out of Hollywood is politically charged, even the animated shows for kids. I think its sentimental for me, for now, I've been navigating around the politcal crap for so long that its almost second nature. LOL.I'm with jenks, it makes me feel younger, remembering the time. -- mkim, 23:29:21 06/24/12 Sun [1]

[> [> Cece, that hunky young Canadian actor played the gardener for EL's character in DH, a little hottie, right? I remember sitting in our college dorm rec.tv room with a lot of friends watching Dallas faithfully. We had another group that didn't like it or The Big Valley and tried to take over our nights. Learned how to disconnect the aerial in the main living room so it interrupted what they wanted to watch and we Dallas/ Big Valley fans waited for them to clear out and return to our regularly scheduled program. What a hoot that was. -- jenks, 08:08:52 06/25/12 Mon [1]

[> [> [> Yes, that is the same hunk. He's too young for me, but then again, virtually every hunk is except maybe Sean Connery. Still, an old cougar can dream....LOL. Yes, I really liked Dallas and Knotts Landing, but I'm not feeling the desire to trip down memory lane. It was interesting to see the old stars again though. Wonder what happened to Victoria Principal. -- Cece, 11:10:57 06/25/12 Mon [1]

[> [> [> [> VP apparently did not want any part of the new Dallas. Last time I saw her, she'd had so much facial work done that she looked terrible, IMVHO. -- jenks, 14:20:56 06/25/12 Mon [1]

[> [> [> [> [> I saw her years ago as a guest star, and it looked like she'd pummeled her face into a smooth mess. The sad thing is, most of these beautiful women would have lovely faces if they aged naturally. Instead, they look like a different species. They just overdo it, and it shows big time. I think they become addicted to the surgery. -- Cece (I guess you can blame the Hollywood youth worship.), 20:50:24 06/25/12 Mon [1]
