[> Silver Bells is my favorite. I was dating my first boyfriend and he took me to the school's Senior Ball. And that was the Theme of The Ball. He had a great voice and he sang that song to me while we were dancing. Oh Puppy Love is wonderful and hurtful. But, I married a wonderful man and he can't sing a note. LOL!!! -- Cathy F., 20:19:47 12/05/11 Mon [1]

[> I love when my family is together and we break into Angels We Have Heard on High in four part harmony. We call it Eggshells. -- manette, 22:49:10 12/05/11 Mon [1]

[> I love "Carol of the Bells" (just got a CD of songs played on the harp - "Carol of the Bells is fantastic). I also like "Silver Bells" (originally from the Bob Hope movie "Lemon Drop Kid"), White Christmas (listened to that on the way to LA one Christmas in 80 degree weather), and all of the Nutcracker. -- kleigh, 22:58:38 12/05/11 Mon [1]

[> Ah, so many.... I love the old traditional ones (Johnny Mathis, Andy Williams), the newer funny/clever ones (Adam Sandler's Hannukah song, even Grandma got run over.... has it's moments!), and many inbetween! The Carpenters... *sigh*! "Tennessee Christmas" by Amy Grant is a fave, as is "Christmas Cookies" by George Strait. And there are versions/covers of the older tunes by new artists that I love as well. -- The Chief (Boney James, Mannheim Steamroller, Kenny G,.... I could go on...), 00:35:35 12/06/11 Tue [1]

[> Winter Wonderland, the old fashioned version. I love Silent Night, but only when sung on Christmas Night itself. Kinda liked Coldplay´s Christmas Lights, too, for something more modern. -- Jam, 06:20:12 12/06/11 Tue [1]

[> O Holy Night and Carol of the Bells are tied for first. The first for the lyrics and the latter for the arrangement. I have a soft spot for The Christmas Song (done by Nat King Cole) and we wish you a Merry Christmas. Love Silent Night sung in it's original German. -- Theresa, 07:47:16 12/06/11 Tue [1]

[> I love anything by Amy Grant, especially "Tennesee Christmas" and "Breath of Heaven" "Grown Up Christmas Wish" I love Mariah Carey's Christmas CD, especially "All I Want for Christmas, (is you)" I love the tradtional carols sung by either of these artists. When my sisters come, to bake cookies, we sing along with them. -- mkim, 12:30:24 12/07/11 Wed [1]

[> [> Oh, my gosh, if I never hear that Mariah Carey song ever again in my life, I'd be a happy woman! That and John Lenin's finger-pointing, Krishna-chanting sermonette. >:-P -- The Chief (how different we all are), 00:40:07 12/10/11 Sat [1]

[> [> [> I LOVE John Lennon's "Happy Christmas/War is Over" song! It's powerful and important! Yes we're so very different. ;-) -- Theresa, 10:27:41 12/10/11 Sat [1]

[> [> [> [> Oh and where are the Krishna's? I only hear a Harlem boys choir singing "war is over if you want it". -- Theresa, 10:31:40 12/10/11 Sat [1]

[> [> [> [> [> Don't get bent, Theresa - just pokin' some fun. I spelled it that way on purpose. I don't like the accusatory tone in the first two lines. What have I done? I'm a mother of 3, what HAVEN'T I done? I don't need Mr. Lennon to look down his nose at me in a Christmas song fer cryin' out loud. Secondly, the "war is over, if you want it" is similar to the Hare-Krishna chanting at the end of "My Sweet Lord". (one-two, one-two; one-two, one-two... and possibly the same melody as well, but a slower). -- The Chief.... The rest of the song is passable, and obviously some feel it to be powerful, but I wouldn't call it "important", except for Lennon's bank account., 22:42:04 12/10/11 Sat [1]

[> [> [> [> [> Oh, and you didn't have to ask me which song I was talking about either... so obviously my description was enough to ring a bell for you. Why is that? -- The Chief, 22:45:09 12/10/11 Sat [1]

[> [> [> [> [> [> I'm not bent, just giving my view. And wasn't sure if I missed something with the Krishna description, I know My Sweet Lord, but didn't see the tie in. I knew which one you were talking about as I have the Lennon anthology and that's the only Christmas song. -- Theresa, 23:30:07 12/10/11 Sat [1]

[> I love 'In Excelsus Deo' because I sang it in parts for my Glee Club in college -- lots of fun memories as well as the beautiful sounds we manage to make! I also like the charity single made a few years ago -- the one that sings 'feed the world -- let them know it's Christmas time....' And I love 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town' because I can still remember my Dad teaching to me with my winter hat on and desperately trying to sing it perfectly. Hi, up there, Dad! -- mj, 13:30:42 12/07/11 Wed [1]

[> Listened the Kelly Clarkson sing "I'll Be Home For Christmas" today. It was beautiful. Best current rendition I have heard in a long time. -- TF, 21:52:56 12/07/11 Wed [1]

[> [> Harry Connick, Jr. has a new version of "All I Want for Christmas is You" which I like MUCH better - it's slow and a more of a "wish you were here" song, than a "rockin' around the tree" song. In line with "I'll be Home for Christmas", or "Merry Christmas, Darling" (the Carpenters) -- The Chief, 22:47:28 12/10/11 Sat [1]

[> [> [> I think you mean Michael Buble, not Harry Connick. LOVE his version! Off this new CD of his, I also love Jingle Bells and White Christmas. -- shygirl, 17:36:57 12/20/11 Tue [1]

[> I think this has to be my FAVORITE Christmas song - on the secular side. Inside for a link.... -- The Chief, 00:16:33 12/11/11 Sun [1]

I give you, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians, the definitive 1955 version, on Decca record #DL8171.... (this is Classic!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eq8hAW5nmIU&feature=player_embedded

If anyone remembers this, you're old! LOL
My parents still have the LP, but my mom made me a cassette when I first got married and photocopied the back of the LP jacket (with all the publication info). A few years ago I finally found a CD version of a Christmas collection with this included, through Penn State University (Fred's Alma Mater) (in case anyone's looking). Now I can play them for my kids.
