heaves, math doesn't lie. it just sucks.

here is your football update from the weekend. franklin flipped 2 more vandy recruits (grant haley, 3* cb from atlanta, and trace mcsorley, 3* dual-threat qb/athlete from va) and is working on filling the last 2 spots with big name dudes. one target is a current rutgers wr commit, high 4* saeed blacknall and the other being any number of dudes (including several 4 and 5* guys).

franklin should fill out the last spot in his staff this week (rumor of a 4 pm presser on friday to unveil everyone) with herb hand, ol line coach and official badass) officially announcing his resignation from vandy yesterday. he's been confirmed through sources that he's coming to psu and franklin has been telling recruits that he's on board. to be honest, the new staff may be better overall than the old staff, even with the departure of lj and vandy. the replacements are solid from top to bottom.

Article on Trace McSorley:
Three-star quarterback Trace McSorley took an official visit to Penn State over the weekend. He arrived as a Vanderbilt commit but the staff he had committed to was now recruiting him to Penn State. For McSorley the message rang true again on a new campus and he made the decision to commit to James Franklin for a second time.

“I made my commitment to Penn State,” McSorley said on Monday. “I was on my official and just checking it out, meeting with some of the players and everything felt right. It was a great opportunity so I was hanging with the staff I already knew and felt comfortable with. I love Coach Franklin, I love Coach (Ricky) Rahne, the whole staff feels comfortable with me and feels like I can be an impact player.”

It was Franklin, Rahne and the rest of the Penn State coaching staff that attracted McSorley’s initial interest in visiting but after learning more about the Penn State program, the Ashburn (Va.) Briar Woods standout decided that it had everything he was looking for.

“The staff is what really got me interested and looking at it,” he said. “Once I did some research and found out that they’re the 37th ranked school in the nation, so still good academics and you can get a good degree. The alumni base is one of the biggest in the country as far as alumni go. Being able to come to a place with this tradition, I knew they had tradition but once I got here you could come and really feel what it’s all about.”

McSorley has yet to hear from the new Vanderbilt coaching staff and new head coach Derek Mason but he doesn’t plan on taking any more visits following his new commitment, including an official visit that was scheduled for next weekend in Nashville.

“I’m locked down so I’m just going to take my official visit here and that’s it,” he said.

Already McSorley is excited about the prospect of lining up in Happy Valley.

“I’m getting chills thinking about running out of that tunnel in front of 100,000 and it’s an amazing feeling and I can’t wait for it.”}

Article on Grant Haley:
Penn State has flipped its second Vanderbilt commitment of the day. On the heels of landing a pledge from Ashburn (Va.) Briar Woods quarterback Trace McSorley, Atlanta (Ga.) Lovett School defensive back Grant Haley has committed to the Nittany Lions.

He did so while on campus for an unofficial visit this weekend.

"I just committed to Penn State," he said on Monday afternoon. "I committed after seeing their campus and looking around, seeing the stadium and seeing how it's a great fit for me, personally."

Haley originally committed to head coach James Franklin at Vanderbilt in July. He followed the new coach to Penn State when he took the lead post for the Nittany Lions.

"He thinks that I can come up and do some things my freshman year and become part of this program just like he did," he said. "They want me to play corner, kick return and punt return."

Haley will return next weekend for his official visit.
