Date Posted: 18:53:58 05/06/14 Tue Penn State has, quite literally, added a huge piece to its Class of 2015. Pittsburgh (Pa.) Baldwin offensive tackle Sterling Jenkins announced on Tuesday evening that he intends to suit up for James Franklin and the Nittany Lions. The 6-foot-8, 310-pound rising senior committed to the coaching staff while on an unofficial visit to University Park on Monday. "I think that really, a lot of it was coach Franklin and the staff's ambition and their dream, their vision for Penn State," Jenkins explained in an interview granted to Lions247 on Monday evening. "I feel that they were very honest in how much they care for me, that was just astounding. I'm really appreciative of that. "I think that their honesty with me and how much they care about me and how much they care about Penn State, how they want to get it back to the top where it was before, I think that was a great position that I wanted to be in." Jenkins is the No. 49 player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, and has been tabbed by the recruiting industry as the top player in the state and the No. 5 offensive tackle nationally. 247Sports ranks him the No. 94 player in the nation, the No. 2 prospect in the Keystone State and the country's No. 11 offensive tackle. In the end he chose the Nittany Lions over Ohio State. Jenkins also held scholarship offers from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and others. Jenkins becomes the 14th commitment in Penn State's Class of 2015. He is the third offensive lineman to pledge to the Nittany Lions and the sixth commitment from the Keystone State. He has accepted an invitation to play in the Under Armour All-American Bowl in January. Jenkins was recruited for the Nittany Lions by assistant coaches Terry Smith, Herb Hand and Bob Shoop.
