Of course Brian wrote Ruby Tuesday... Mick admits he "absolutely loves the song" and "one of his favorites" but contributed zero when it comes to writing credits.

Marianne writes in her autobiography that she was there in the studio when Keith overheard Brian playing his recorder and asked Brian to play it for him. Then they started to work on the song. I am sure Brian contributed to the lyrics as well (not to mention great harmonies to the song).

I have read quotes from Brian saying how they produced the song (adding various layers) and Keith as well, saying that Brian would not allow Mick to contribute anything while the band was still finishing the final touches. My guess is Brian felt the same way towards Mick while working with Keith (two's company three's a crowd etc...).

One has to remember at this time Brian and Keith were becoming great friends again while living in the same pad with Anita... Mick was the one who was looked "frowned upon" as being square (not dropping LSD, doing drugs etc...). Brian COULD have used this occasion to include Mick and perhaps regain friendship with Mick (they were always competing against one another for EVERYTHING including leadership of the band/Keith's friendship).

Of course all of this changed (band dynamics) shortly thereafter by the drug bust's/Keith stealing away Anita (the final nail in the coffin regarding Brian/Keith's friendship). Brian received no mention of writing credits (wouldn't surprise me, one bit, if he was lied to regarding "Ruby Tuesday").

My question, after all of this, is why didn't Brian ever tell anyone (the press etc..) that he helped create/write the song!! Speak up and tell the world I WROTE RUBY TUESDAY. Who knows why he didn't. Mind boggling if you ask me.

Just another piece to the puzzle, as they say, regarding the very complex relationship Brian, Mick and Keith had back in those days.

I believe, the biggest back-stabber in all of this, is Keith. What a total loser (I would say a lot worse if I could). If I could invent a time machine I would go back in time and tell Brian, in early 1967,RIGHT NOW, GET THE HELL OUT OF THE BAND!! Of course, that's impossible, but it's those types of stories that makes Brian's life so tragic/ unbelievable.
