A few quick thoughts on the movie in no particular order:

* Woo! Loved seeing all those Jedi in action! When Episode I came out, I was really hoping on seeing armies of Jedi and Sith charging at each other on a battle field, but of course, we didn't get to see that. After EpI revealed that there are only two active Sith Lords at any one time, but that the galaxy is populated by 10,000 Jedi, I was hoping we could at least see some more Jedi in action. Seeing a cadre of Jedi charge up against a legion of Battle Droids was just too cool!! Woo-hooooo!!

* Jango Fett rocks!! Never thought I'd ever like a character who spoke with a Kiwi accent, but he is just too cool. He gave Obiwan a run for his money, totally killed some other Jedi Knight, and it took Mace "second baddest in the universe" Windu to finally kill him. As opposed to his cloned son Boba, who was knocked into the Sarlacc by a blind guy with a stick. Jango actually used his rocket pack for something more than just falling into a pit.

* The Clone troopers were cool. Sure, they all had New Zealand accents, but they were still cool (which is unusual for me, because I usually cannot STAND the Kiwi accent).

* The romance between Amidala and Anakin was so sweet. When she said, "I've been dying a little bit each day..." and confessed her love, my reaction was, "Aaaaawwwwwwwwwwwww"

* Anakin is so damn insecure! Jedi are usually cool and confident. Anakin on the other hand has virtually NO self esteem! Still, it is partially Obiwan's fault. He doesn't seem to be doing a terribly good job parenting/mentoring him, because he's just too quick to highlight Anakin's flaws and put him in his place, but not so quick to point out his strengths and good points. With such a negative attitude, is it any wonder why Anakin is so insecure and petty? Anakin feels so frustrated by the fact that he is such a powerful Jedi, yet he is still at Padawan level. Obiwan should make it clear to him why he is being kept at Padawan level (i.e.: lack of experience to use his powers wisely) despite his talents and abilities, which he should also praise. With such crappy mentoring, it is little wonder that Anakin is edging ever closer towards the Dark Side. The scene when he did momentarily turn to the Dark Side and slaughtered those Tusken Raiders was cool. Scary, but cool.

* Shmi's death was visually very disturbing. But I thought it was good to show her dying in such a horrific manner, as it created a plausible excuse for Anakin to give into his hate -- whether or not we approve of the way he slaughtered those Sand People, the fact is that we can at least appreciate and sympathise with why he did it. And the fact that he was very repentive and huddled himself into fetal position and cried in Amidala's arms later on shows that he has not yet turned to the Dark Side (since he clearly shows regret for the horrific deed that he'd done).

I'm gonna watch it again this weekend. Till then, May The Force Be With You!
