Didn't get to review Snoop Dogg because I was in a theatrical quagmire this week (aka production week). I would like to say that I liked "Negative Connotations," however.

Out of the Frying Pan: I think we've already been over how the use of self-deprecating humor would not work on the actual show. Rather than one joke, this sketch repeatedly takes shots at SNL, so I won't give you that schpiel.

"Conservative bashing": Yes, the show has a left-wing bias. Always has, as far as I understand. But as for the monologues, they rarely seem to be at all political. And although the political sketches usually do ridicule conservatives, I think it's a stretch to say that every show has a "group" of political sketches. Usually it's just the CO. (And Weekend Update, of course. I don't consider that a sketch, exactly.) You might have intended this as an exaggeration, but I'm not sure it works.

Many of the lines are funny, but this seems short for a CO.

Monologue: Finding Ashley duct-taped behind the potted plants would be quite amusing. I feel like the ending could be more creative.

Lynndie England: "Festive pictures" for a birthday party seems to be a bit of a stretch. Think about what kinds of occasions someone would take crazy pictures for. (Vacation, yearbook, grandparents, etc.)

The "Mentos" thing seems very random. It might be more effective to use a commercial that audiences will be more familiar with.

The sketch seems to end abruptly. You seem to set up a storyline in the beginning, and then the sketch just ends.

Smiles and Frowns: Good use of contrast.

The "Van Helsing" joke is too hard to follow. I'm not sure what you meant about the name "Victor"...and I'm not sure if you can trust the average American to know who Mary Shelley is.

Again, the ending seems abrupt.

Team Morale: I know some children's teams do this kind of thing, and that was a good way to make fun of it. Again, ending seems to be a cutoff.

Time After Time: This is great...I took a class this year about time, so I find this especially amusing. We don't realize how confusing a concept time is (especially time travel) and this sketch takes advantage of that in a very funny way. Perfect way to use the twins on SNL without doing another twin sketch. Great ending!

To be continued...
