I'm considering taking a fabulously luxurious flat in Partick, but need somebody to share (the rent) with.

This place is a third floor flat in a refurbished print-works building, with wooden floors everywhere but the kitchen and bathrooms, where the floors are slate. It is amazingly kitted-out, with surround sound in the huge lounge [Linn system], an open-plan kitchen fully-equipped with brushed steel appliances, as well as an espresso machine, cable TV and a broadband internet connection.
It is furnished in a clean, minimalist style (this is not a euphemism!) with wooden venetian blinds.

The main bedroom (mine) has a small en-suite, with shower, and there is a second larger bathroom with bath and separate shower, which would be yours. Your bedroom is big enough to comfortably accomodate a double-bed (which would be provided, unless you prefer the futon which is there at the moment), but is not huge. However, I think that the unbridled luxury of the rest of this dwelling more than compensates! Also, there is secure underground parking for one car, and since I do not have a car, this would be available for you too.

I am a 27-year old female professional, but I'm about to take 'a year out' to study painting at the Glasgow School of Art. I love hip-hop and cooking (mainly Italian), which means you could be catered for (vegetarian), provided that you are prepared to put up with high-volume Eminem et-al.

If you are interested, the rent is £850/month (for the two of us), but you would not be expected to pay less than half, as I will be taking the bigger bedroom!

Trying to find out where the archives for the St. John's RC Chapel, would be filed/stored. Read on the web that the church was demolished in 1990. Also, was there an earlier church on that site. My grandfather..Hugh McGifford..moved to 35 church street Partick when he was married in 1913. He lived there until he immigrated to Saskatchewan Canada in 1925. It is beleived that his father ..another Hugh McGifford...was porter in the Helen Street Fever Hospital of Govan in the 1880 through 1900 era. I am currently researching Gorbals life for a play I am designing called Bread and Butter by C.P.Taylor which will tour to Dundee Rep, Edinburgh Traverse and Glasgow Arches in June.

I am trying to find out any details of single tenement life that I might not have come across in my research and wondered whether you might be able to share any with me regarding the interiors, clothes etc

Also there is a character called Miriam and her husband Alec who work in a garment factory (making greatcoats for soldiers) and I wondered what they might wear at work- a special dress/ apron/ overalls?

I have fond memories of growing up in a tenement.I was born in the set in bed of my parents house at 28 osbourne st.I remember going to the public baths on a thursday night (ladies night)the bath was so deep,as much hot water as you liked and a wee bar of soap and a hot towel,all right in the summer but on a winters night freezing going home.I was lucky our close was next to the steamie.I also remember everyones key opened every door in the close,handy if you were locked out.
My mum and dad were always skint so mammy would go to the warehouse with her line on a saturday,and the pawn on a monday.She used to pawn my brothers suit on the monday and hoped he was not going out midweek!I remember hogmonay at glasgow cross the one o clock gang used to come after the clock had played the new year in.Fond memories but poverty all round.
