Date Posted: 03:32:03 08/30/02 Fri The twin powers within her stir, both concocting various dreams, each trying to pull her to their side. A wounded wolf stands beside a fire consuming her. It does not harm her, it washes over her-healing her wounds... A heavy rain falls, sending a chill through all around her as she stands. None can attack her for the rain hurts her not. It is her rain... The two are at a standoff. Both completely black in color, though one with an inner fire and the other and inner chill. Twin flames of opposing force. They stand with the valley between them, waging a war of magic while a war of hatred goes on below. Both have become good and evil and neither. Joined with all and with none, they care not of the raining down of their magic as it washes over the two warring clans below, they are both bent on the desrtuction of the other, no matter the cost to the terrain. The wolf stirs in her sleep. Dreams haunt her, rip at her, confuse her. Convulsions of false pain shake her body. I feel you.... Something wakes her, a feeling of warmth-not of the fire but of comradship. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 06:14:31 08/26/02 Mon She watches the exchange between Ishtar and Sarquint, curiosity kindling in darkamber eyes, wondering what the masked wolf meant... wondering at the shadows of guilt in Sarquint's gaze that showed he, at least, knew of some truth in Ishtar's words. The breeze changes, and a wintry chill ruffles the maned wolf's flamegold fur. Large triangular ears prick forward into the wind, keen nose twitching. Something's out there... somewolf... She pads on silent paws to the glen's border and stops as she reaches the treeline, looking over her shoulder at the black alpha. He said not to go off alone... "Um..." Her rich voice is hesitant, unsure. "There's somewolf out there... I think hurt, or weak, or..." She closes her mouth with a click, realizing she's rambling and feeling somewhat foolish for it. Her fur is dark and light, black with markings of pale blue and silver. Each pawprint leaves some peice of her in its wake. The leftside drawing forth curls of smoke, the right leaving frozed bits of grass, weed, and dirt. Her pace is slow but sure, her direction never faltering. Two months. Almost there after two months. She catches a faint scent on the breeze. WindChaser She is gladdened, her heart aching to see the pups who will no longer be pups after this year of seperation. She pauses to catch herself. Two months without end, stopping only when the ground would not keep still beneith her tired paws. Eating what little she could find unwarry in the fields, the forrests, the water. Again the ground leaves her, she falls and rests. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 10:03:26 08/21/02 Wed Sighing softly, WindChaser lies down with Piper still between her paws. She licks Piper's fur a little, as much to compose herself as to comfort the pup. "All wolves have to die eventually, sweetie..." She began gently, slowly. "But somewolves die sooner than others. Sometimes they get sick and die, but sometimes, well, sometimes they get killed." She does not want to go too far, unless Piper wants to know more. WindChaser does not know what happened to Brandy, but she does not doubt that it is a fate many other wolves, perhaps the masked Ishtar, perhaps others - would have in store for all of them, if they had their way. Date Posted: 09:45:11 08/20/02 Tue Sarquint watches silently as Ishtar leaves his clan. He does not move his gaze until he is absolutely sure that the wolf is gone. When he is, Sarquint sighs, shaking his head. How long had it even been since he'd seen his eldedst daugher? Had he ever made ammends with her? He closes his eyes, head bowed, in memory of his daughter. Levi should be told, but he hasn't the means to tell her. And now there is the living to think of. Rising, Sarquint pads slowly over to Lunaia. His green eyes are soft, compassionate, and concerned for the small pup. Quietly, he lies down near his granddaughter, but not too close. After a while, he softly asks, "Lunaia?" Still curled up with her friend, Piper is none too sad to see the bad wolf leave. But when Sarquint comes over, Piper gets up, sensing maybe she should leave them be. She gives Lunay a friendly lick, and slowly pads away, eyes not quite leaving the other pup. Solomnly, Piper pads over to WindChaser, plopping down at her adopted mother's feet. Her emerald eyes look up at Windy, questioning. "Why, mum?" she asks quietly. "Why'd Lunay's momma hafto die?" Troubled, she snuggles against WindChaser, still watching the silver-furred pup. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

One day, perhaps, Sarquint will learn. But not yet. Not until it is in Ishtar's best interest. "It is unfortunate, uncle," —that, at least, he can call Sarquint— "that you care so little for your grandaughter's wishes. As I said, it was by her request that I came here. I hope, at least, you can do better for her than you did for her mother. After the torturous youth you let her lead. Did she ever even get the chance to call you father?" Ishtar makes a spitting sound of disgust. "Though I suppose you did no better by any of your other children." He holds his head higher, glancing around the Clan. "But I am no fool. I know when I am out-numbered by hostile enemies. So I will not linger." He turns to leave, stopping only to dip his head and nuzzle Lunaia. Be strong, little one. And the black-masked wolf is gone. Date Posted: 09:04:17 08/20/02 Tue OOC: Eh. Sunny's going to OurWorld, so I gotta make an exit post. X_X I'm bringing Aurore though. ^_^ Walking alone in the forest, Sunflash comes suddenly upon a shimmering portal, a glowing oblong of light. Well-versed in the ways of strange portals, Sunflash warily side-steps it, making as if to go around it. And she stops. Narilsa... She turns slowly, glancing at the portal, mingled fear and excitement sending her fur awash with electric feeling. Who are you? How do you know my... name? Narilsa... Sunflash shakes her head a moment, clearing it; she glances back at the Clan, remembering herself. The portal glows even more brilliantly at this, and pulls her forward irresistibly with sweet promises only she can hear; Sunflash moves leadenly, as if chained and dragged by the magick. Mesmerized, she allows the portal to embrace her, not knowing what she is doing or where she is going. All she knows is the vision she sees before her; the vision of her sister. Aurore, walking swiftly through the forests towards the sounds of wolves, comes upon Sunflash in the last stage of her bewitchment. Startled, she leaps forward, but too late; the portal implodes upon itself with a flash of light, and Aurore skids to a halt on the bare earth. Shaken, she trots quickly towards the Clan, coming upon its borders... ...and grinds to a stop. Father is here: Sarquint! Breaking into a swift trot, she breaks into the midst of the Clan, forgetting all else. It's been so long since she's seen him! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

It appears that some wolves of the pack already know them, but becuase she has come to this pack from such a long distance, she has no connections to any wolf. She would like to introduce herself to some of these wolves, but before she gets anywhere, she catches the word Deathmaker from Sarquint. She stands and turns to see him talking to Ishtar. So Ishtar is a Deathmaker? What could he possibly be doing here? Sienna thinks, as she recalls Sunflash talking about the Deathmakers and their terrible ways. Out of the corner of her eye and from a distance, Sienna watches Ishtar as her mind drifts to other things. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Author: Sarquint and Piper [ Edit | View ] |
Date Posted: 08:25:12 08/15/02 Thu Piper, who had been playing idly with a dragon fly before her friend re-entered the pack, looks up in bewilderment at the masked wolf's announcement. Her little jaw drops– Lunaia's mother, dead? How? She thought her mother wasn't even around. Piper quickly gets up and scurries over to her friend. Her brow furrows at seeing Lunaia so... down. Getting as close to Lunaia as possible, Piper cuddles against her. "It'll be okey, Lunay," she tries to comfort, her emerald green eyes watching the other pup closely. But now that she's so close, she takes notice of the new wolf, too, Ishtar. Unconsciously, a growl forms in her throat. Something smells... wrong about this wolf. Twisted, sickly. It goes beyond any feelings she might have that this wolf is Dark, it's something she senses deeper inside of her. Something unnatural. Sarquint watches Edanya (Aynade?) steadily, and there is obviously no trust in him for the maned wolf. However, it is possible that this is another wolf the same species. Of course, he highly doubts that. He's not stupid, after all. "Very well, then," his voice is dangerously soft, "you may stay. But, for now at least, you may not go off alone. You've yet to earn my trust." If Sarquint was going to deal further with the maned wolf, it's cut short by the entrance of Ishtar. The low, inaudible growl in the back of his throat is immediate upon seeing the masked wolf. This wolf, at least, he knows a DeathMaker. (And, oh, what he doesn't know). His message, however, does strike Sarquint. Lunaia's mother dead. Brandy. His daughter. The black wolf hangs his head; the child he had never been able to protect, harmed once more. And this time forever. The second of his children to meet death. However, his grief does not blind him. His sharp green eyes quickly rise again to meet Ishtar's cold grey ones. This time his growl is more audible, and more threatening. Son of his sister or no... "You will not stay here, Ishtar," he says, spitting the name, though his voice is otherwise calm and restrained. "However, if you leave immediately, you will be permitted to go untouched. I suggest that is the course you choose. I will not have a DeathMaker free among my pack, and I will not have you influencing my grand-daughter." He does not speak his suspicions on how Brandy might have died, and who her mysterious murderer might have been. Those are things Lunaia need not hear. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 08:03:24 08/15/02 Thu Ishtar nuzzles the sad, resigned Lunaia as he stands on his dark legs. Sensing the weary mourning around the child, he gently lifts her with his muzzle, carrying her back towards Forest Deep. As he enters the soft forest clearing with the small pup, he carries himself tall, apparently not caring who notices him or what they think. After all, he's not here for them. He sets Lunaia down on a soft bed of grass, looking back up to the other wolves. "This child has lost her mother," he says slowly-but-clearly. "She was murdered, it seems, and it rests twice as heavy on the shoulders as one so young—to have never known her mother and to be robbed of the chance. She has asked me to stay with her, and for now, I will." That's all the black-masked wolf says. Why should they need anymore? Despite what they might think of him, he is still the child's kin—though none of them may know it—and since her other relatives here seem too preoccupied for her, he is not. "I am so glad you came, little neice," he speaks aloud now, but softly. Kindly. "See what I have for you?" From the ground, he picks up what appears to be akin to a necklace. It is a bright, almost glowing stone–in the shape of a moon–on a leather strap. He gently loops it around her neck, smiling down at her. "It suits you very well. One day, too, I might teach you how to use it." He looks grave all of the sudden, and a frown shadows his features. "Now, your mother..." His tone is sad, laced with regret. "I am afraid this is no good news, little heart. Follow me." Ishtar leads Lunaia away from the elm a little ways. There, spread across a mossy bed, lies the pups mother, Brandy. The blood has been cleaned from her fur, and her eyes are closed, so it appears as if she's resting. However, the deep, nasty gash across her neck cannot be missed. "This is how I found her," Ishtar wispers, hanging his head. "I am sorry, little one. I was too late. There was nothing I could do. I thought... I thought you should know." She had never really known him as well as she would have liked, but even that being the case... he had always been there for her... He had even sacrificed himself for she and her siblings, and... She hoped she could get to know him better. Her mother had such a high opinion of him and love for him... "Windy!" she exclaimed when she saw her little sister, trotting over to her to nuzzle her. She had practically raised her when they were alone—she, Taro, and Illusion, for that matter, as well as herself. "I've missed you, sis," she grinned, and then turned expectantly when Windy mentioned Delwyn. Delwyn. Her youngest sibling, whom she had never met. "Delwyn... where is she?" she asked softly. Date Posted: 15:22:07 08/10/02 Sat *Soko sighs, and gives up her fruitless search for Chame's trail. She hears everyone back with this newcommer, and, after taking a deep sniff, knows that there are a couple more there as well. A short cut through the woods to where everyone was would be quicker than retracing her steps. Even after the Shadow of Rak describes that way as "shadowy, maybe dangerous", it doesn't bother the young wolf. Being blind means that her world is in a constant darkness, no shadowy area would deter her from reaching the rest of the pack. She steps away from the pup's trail, and heads, unwittingly, right towards another hidden watcher.* [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 11:24:35 08/10/02 Sat Through the summer forest a stranger approaches. His movement is slow, but steady- the pace of one who has traveled a distance, and feels no urgency to arrive at his destination. Light that slips through the thick forest canopy catches on his fur, highlighting the steel grays and soft browns. Minion slows as he reaches the clearing (meadow? valley? glen? what is a glen, anyhow?) where the pack has gathered. Coppery eyes survey the other wolves present. He recognizes a few, in a vague sort of way, as wolves he has seen before. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Perhaps she was, because as she looks around she notices all of these new and wonderfully familiar faces hovering close to her. And yet she'd been staring at Edanya all this time. There was something... odd... about the wolf, but WindChaser felt that perhaps the oddness was only in herself, not in any of the others. "Why, hello, Genesis, Sar, Delwyn! I am glad to see you!" And they looked nice, most of them. Even so, she was once again content to hang back as introductions were made. There'd be time to introduce herself later, when formalities were finished. "Did you find anything interesting on your adventure?" she asks the pups, frowning inwardly. They looked rather edgy. I wonder why... [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 15:54:14 08/06/02 Tue Padding softly for a large, adult male, the black wolf returns to Forest Deep. He has a slight weary look of one who has traveled long and far, with little rest. Behind him comes another wolf, smaller in stature, her fur a creamy gold-white and her eyes bright blue. He stops when they reach the edge of Forest Deep, and turns and smiles to the shewolf, as if to say this is home now. Looking over the clan, Sarquint's eyes almost pass over her, but his attention is quickly grabbed by the other newly entered shewolf. Their similarity, at first, makes him heartsick, but a smile comes across his face all the same as he reccognizes Small Wonder's eldest daughter. Giving the cream-coloured shewolf a little nuzzle, Sarquint moves over to the other shewolf. "Genesis," he greets with a smile, "it's been a long time since I've seen you. I'm glad you've come." He's not quite sure what else he should say; he never knew Genesis so well as WindChaser, or even Taro—though the young wolf had hated him. "WindChaser is here, too, and Delwyn," he pauses, then adds, his tone a little colder, "and Icedeath." He knows Icedeath was like her father; at least the white wolf had acted as father at least once. Sarquint glances over to where the others are gathered around Edanya, and his eyes narrow. "You'll have to excuse me, though..." Sarquint trots over to Edanya and the others, his head and tail raised high as he comes up to the red-furred wolf. This was not a wolf easily forgotten, and Sarquint had absolutely seen her before. "Hail, Stranger," he greets, but his voice has a hard edge to it. "One would wonder what you are doing here, when your place has been among the DeathMakers not far from here." [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 15:44:23 07/30/02 Tue Away from the comotion around Lunaia and the new, mysterious wolf she's run into, the brooke that flows into Forest Deep babbles and runs, bubbling noisily into the crystal pool there. A set of small, white paws follow the chattering water through the sun-dappled forest, knowing the flow of the water is the path that will take them home. It's been several suns since the little Piper—only just slightly bigger now, barely noticable—has left to what she figures to be her home, chasing after such a pretty butterfly. It had been adventure some out in the forest, and she had made many new friends. Including the one who is now seeing her safely home, she thinks, as she looks up in the trees to see a tawny owl sweeping silently above her, dish-like eyes watching over the young wolf. Piper's green eyes light up as the trees begin to thin and she sees the gentle clearing that is Forest Deep. "This is my home," she mind-speaks to the owl. "Very well then, little friend," the owl mind-speaks back, "we well see eachother again. Fair well for now." And the owl swoops away. Piper watches it fly away and lopes into the clearing. Her home. For further percaution, he's used magick to mask his scent, and the strong scent of blood and death of that which he carries with him. It's a pity, he thinks to himself, that the small Lunaia had to run into that lurking wolf and attract attention to herself. It would have been much, much easier to lure her away before she was noticed again. He has something to show her, afterall. So the dark-masked wolf stays still, crouched in the shadows. He does not want to attract the attention of the new clan to him. No, that wouldn't do. His eyes flick down to the body laying at his paws. The limp, black-furred wolf; once bright eyes now grey and milky in death, with only hints of their former colour left, thick black fur blood-soaked. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 14:57:13 07/19/02 Fri OOC: Sorry this took so long to get out. X_X I haven't been able to get on for any extended period of time recently. BIC: "The OldWays themselves are a way of life, a creed that the Killers are sworn to follow. OurWorld followed the OldWays long ago, but it fell to corruption and greed, and the OldWays were lost. This world still follows them, however. "The OldWays are inherent in the balances between everything... everything you see. Every part of the land is interconnected with each other; the plants, the earth, the animals, life itself. If anything were to be taken away from the web of balance, to be killed off, the effects could... would be disastrous. It is a very delicate balance, and that balance is called the OldWays, which Kmitza taught to her children. If the OldWays are ever killed, then life itself will slowly cease to exist." Sunflash pauses a moment, thoughtful. "This happened to OurWorld, the place of my birth. The luktai of OurWorld forgot the OldWays, forgot the importance of everything to the grand scheme. They drained the magick from the land, indiscrimately followed their every whim and their growing greed. and soon, the land began to die, wasting and growing barren in the wake of the death of the OldWays. The luktai forgot the balance that they had to honor above their very lives, and forgot how to respect everything else in the land, everything else in the web of life. They did not just tip the scales of balance, but destroyed them beyond repair..." Sunflash drops her gaze, but a slight, disbelieving smile crosses her face at her next thoughts, which evidently surprise even her. "I still miss it, though; little surprise, it is the land of my birth. Sometimes I long to see it again, long to walk there again in a way Kmitza never did, and long to hear my birthname spoken again, even if it still causes me the pain of nostalgia to hear it. I long to speak my native language again with someone who will understand it... for now even I am forgetting it, with no one to speak it to, no one to speak it to me." She seems finished with her talk of the OldWays, and now is apparently lost in reminisce. Rude Sunflash, boring everyone with her personal thoughts. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Author: SunflashFirewing of the Earth [ Edit | View ] |
Date Posted: 15:00:15 07/15/02 Mon Sunflash gazes around at all the wolves, and a faraway look glazes itself over her eyes. "To speak of the OldWays, I suppose one must speak first of the one who came here, and taught the OldWays to the wolves of this world: her children. Kmitza was a Royal of the Ruling House of another world that we, its inhabitants the luktai, simply named Our World. As the eldest daughter of the king- whom some called Sephiroth, or the Nameless One- she was the Great Princess of Our World, heir to a dying land that, having forgotten the OldWays, was being drained of its magick by luktai greedy for power. There were two other children of the king, a male and female. The second eldest was Prince Monolith... the youngest princess was myself." Sunflash's eyelashes flicker at the mention of her brother, but she seems to compose herself quickly once again to continue speaking. "A great many factors led to Kmitza fleeing OurWorld and coming here... namely her betrothal by her father to a male she held no feelings for, and her unwillingness to remain in a corrupt and dying world dominated by the exploitation of magick. Once a luktai has left OurWorld to come to Earth, they can never go back... but Kmitza did not care. She came here, met her spirit guide- the raven, Taku- walked in the forests of Earth, and loved this world. She used her powerful magick- for the Royals of OurWorld are those luktai with the most powerful of magick, Ancient Magick- to create the Wolf from her blood and body, and the Healer Clan was formed this way. The FirstHealer, Ziako, she took as a mate, and the Healers prospered. "Sephiroth would not let his heir go so easily, however. He had found the Shade Talisman, an artifact of great evil, and claimed that, using the Talisman, he could go to Earth, retrieve his errant daughter, and return with her, without passing through the Void and being purified by the four elements. The Talisman corrupted him, turned him into a being of evil. Monolith and I agreed to come to this world to warn our sister of Sephiroth's arrival, but while I came through the Void correctly... Monolith made a fatal error in the process of purification. He was twisted into a creature of evil by that error. "Sephiroth began Turning the Healers Kmitza had created. They became the DeathMakers, the creatures of imbalance, and hunted down the few remaining Healers. Kmitza intervened quickly, changing a few of the DeathMakers into Killers, and, gathering the last few of the original Healers, she changed them into unicorns. The Killers were given the task of defenders, preservers of balance, charged with counteracting the DeathMakers. But if any of them strayed from the OldWays they had been taught by Kmitza, they would fall victim to the curse of their blood, and become DeathMakers once again." Sunflash falls silent, for the moment regaining her breath (and normal function of the RPer's hands). It seems she will continue speaking of Kmitza and the OldWays after a moment. Date Posted: 20:13:10 07/11/02 Thu Vren watches the pups sneak away, one corner of his mouth twitching into a smile. No matter how often they think they're unseen, every wolf in this pack has probably snuck away at some point or another, also thinking that no adults saw them. Of course, he was quite apt at it as a puppy, and no one ever saw HIM...he was much better at sneaking than the others his age, at least in his own mind. His ears are almost thrown forward as he hears one of the wolves--the newly nominated beta male, it seems--speaking again of the Old Ways. He's interested in learning about this, indeed; the pack, or clan, as it were, seems more intriguing than most he's stumbled upon. He still wants to find out more about it to make sure it's worthy of him, though. Prancing towards the beta female in his gray-shod feet, Vren plumps himself down next to her and takes the time for a leisurely stretch, then fixes the same smile on Windchaser that he did on Nervelli...the one he thinks is charming. "I'd like to learn more of the Old Ways, in that case..." [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

The gray wolf that had spoken had his pale yellow gaze focused intently on Sienna, a kindly look upon his face. His eyes crinkled as he smiled briefly at her and nodded. "Those who are prepared to follow the OldWays heard the call. I am Railen, welcome to the Killer Clan. However, if you wish to learn more of the OldWays," Railen said, tossing his head towards Windchaser, "you might ask Windchaser. I do believe she learned of them directly from the great wolf Natil, the one called us here." [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 18:35:41 07/06/02 Sat OOC: This will be sucky, 'cause I got a billion things to do tonight. Piper spots a rabbit a bit further off and, just for the instinctual joy of chase, she bolts after it. Of course, she has no intentions of hurting it. When she's stopped, though, with the rabbit far out of sight, she looks around and realizes she has no clue where she is, or how to get back... Sarquint—*sob!* I'm sorry, I couldn't think of a reason for Sar to leave! ;_; Let's just say it was very urgent... family stuff. He has enough of that. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

She is an adult, but has just reached that age. She vigilantly walks towards the voices of the clan, with her ears focused in that direction. Her eyes show no signs of apprehension. She heard a gathering call earlier, but now... it seems they are choosing leaders for the clan. Instead of speaking, she sits quietly where she can be seen, but at such a distance so that she is not intruding, and listens. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 23:12:01 07/05/02 Fri *Soko listens to this definition of Deathmakers, knowing it's the exact discription that Teacher gave her, but just being with Teacher and Rak opened her mind to other options.* "Teacher talked little about Sephiroth; all of her knowledge came from what conversations she had with Zodiac. What Teacher did know was that everything is in balance. Everything has darkness in them, just as they do light. It's that balance that keeps us rational. When a person loses that balance, they become irrational, destructive. 'Kill the Darkies/Lighties for they threaten our safety or our numbers'. Teacher and Rak had each other, and they balanced themselves out. Teacher was for peace and understanding. She had friends and allies within the 'darkies', and Rak was the warrior of the family; she loved to fight, but she also loved the pups, and watching them live was her happiness." *she shakes her head* "I don't understand the difference between the two, beyond the kindness shown. A killer is someone who makes death, and a deathmaker is a killer. There isn't a difference between the two." *she nods to Windchaser, and listens to Piper scamper after a butterfly* "Windchaser, you shall make a good Beta, as will you Railen. I have confidence in you both." [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 22:08:14 07/05/02 Fri WindChaser smiles to herself as she watches Piper leave, utterly absorbed in the butterfly. Her own days of mischief and adventuring on her own were not that long-gone in her short memory. And there was very little danger in these parts, it seemed, except for the new DeathMakers. Chame and Sarquint snap her attention away from the curious pup and she rises gracefully to her feet. "I would be most honored to accept that position, if you would have me," she speaks not only to the Alphas but to the entire pack, bowing graciously. Half of her fills with pride, but the other half seethes with worry. Could she do it? There shouldn't be much to do - really, the others would always be here, but, what if-- no, there was no use worrying about it now. Of course she could! She'd have to. Date Posted: 21:49:18 07/05/02 Fri Sarquint nods in agreement with Sunflash, grinning a little at Railen's surprise. "I agree that Railen would be the best choice for Beta male." Sarquint had already been thinking that, in reality. Railen carried a certain... sensibility about him, and an air of honour. Most importantly, though, Railen seemed trustworthy. "And," he continues with a small, proud smile, "I, too, believe WindChaser would be well-suited as Beta Female." His softly glowing green eyes move to WindChaser, awaiting her answer. Piper snuggles closer against WindChaser, content curled up between her paws. She listens to the others for a while, but her attention is stole by a pretty, colourful butterfly a bit away from the gathering of wolves, resting daintily on a cornflower. Piper pulls herself up, bouncing over to the cornflower. Her emerald eyes widen with awe as she gets closer to the butterfly. With all its different colours... "Hello," she says quietly, not wanting to scare it away with a loud voice. But the butterfly flutters off of the flower, anyway, and floats off further away from the wolves. Determined to make friends with it, Piper lopes after it. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

However, his fascination with her words was whisked away as she spoke his name, emerald green eyes clearly focused on himself. It took Railen by surprise and his black-tipped ears stood forward, but the gray wolf's posture remained the same as he nodded to Sunflash. "Thank you, it would be an honor." The wave of surprise slowly subsided as he excepted Sunflash's compliment with a brief, modest smile and a respectful nod. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 17:35:51 07/05/02 Fri The young wolf watches and listens silently as the alphas and such are discussed. He nods with wordless agreement as Sarquint is decided upon as alpha male; certainly the black wolf commands a certain respect, almost unconsciously. Sunflash - he doesn't know much about her yet, not about her leadership abilities nor her as a wolf, but the others seem to vouch for her, so... He blinks as Sarquint says Nervelli should be denmother. Huh. She seemed like a nice wolf; he hadn't really talked to her yet, but he'd seen her go off with the pups and she seemed to be good with them. Chame glances sidelong at the somewhat quiet fem, curious. He'd have to get to know her better if she was going to be with the pups all the time. He wanted to play with the pups too! Betas? The discussion interrupts his thoughts and he turns his attention back to the conversation. Railen he hasn't met yet; he was busy talking with Icedeath when Railen entered the territory. He is going to have to get to know him a bit better, certainly. What about a beta female, though...? "I'd think WindChaser would make a good beta female," he says, then blinks at his own initiative in suggesting a beta. Huh. He is actually being serious. This is scary. Chame shifts his weight from paw to paw restlessly. He is going to have to play a few pranks to make up for this. Dark brown eyes wander over to the pups again, and he grins slightly. Definitely going to have to introduce himself to Nervelli and the pups so he can play... and maybe entice them into some mischief-making! Whee! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

"Kmitza created the Healers from her own magic, flesh and blood... but then her... our father, called Sephiroth by some, came to this world using the Shade Talisman, an object of great evil. He Turned most of the Healers, corrupting them into darkness, turning them from the OldWays. That is what the Death Makers are." Sunflash then turns her gaze to Railen. "Betas?" She glances at Sarquint quizzically. "Why, if we choose a beta pair to take the reins if Sarquint or I are ever absent, I would think you yourself would be a good candidate for the beta male slot, Railen. Or capable of speaking well. He's still curious, however, as to what his purpose is to be here. The OldWays, however, appeal to him in a certain way; Vren isn't religious, but it seems to be somewhat unregulated. "What are the Deathmakers?" He's asking no one in particular; he merely wants his question answered. The name "Killers" seems as menacing to him as the other clan's name, though, so he's unsure whether or not the Deathmakers are meant to be an enemy. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 13:01:25 07/04/02 Thu Icedeath chuckles inwardly as the reccomendations for alphas are spoken. It amuses him to no end that one of the darkest darkwolves he remembered in the old clans was becoming alpha of the 'new Killers'. The old, set-in-its-ways half of his brain argues with the rational half. What if he's a spy of some sort? No, he couldn't be. He seems to have changed... But if he didn't, having him as alpha is a huge mistake. But it isn't like he didn't take care of Small and Windchaser when I was... busy. And he certainly seems nice enough now, doesn't he? But still... "I'd be happy to see Sarquint and Sunflash as alphas. If not for the previous experience and battle expertise, then for the proven leadership skills..." I'll just have to keep an eye on him. That's all. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 07:38:11 07/04/02 Thu Sarquint bows his head in assent and to show humility, for as Alpha, it is the pack which he will serve. But when he raises his head again, he holds it high. "Very well," he agrees, "if you would all have me Alpha male, then I suppose I cannot refuse. I am honoured by your choice. And Windy," he adds quietly, to Windchaser, "I will." This seems to be more of a personal promise, having ablsolutely nothing to do with alphaship or even the current pack. Sarquint's bright green eyes turn to Sunflash, completely returning her smile. "I believe SunflashFirewing would be a fine Alpha Female. I would be glad to have her lead with me." His smile, almost smug to Sunflash now, brightens. "If she would." He turns now to Nervelli, kindly. "You seem so caring and at ease with pups, Nevelli," he begins, "that I would ask you, if you will, to be the pack's denmother. The caretaker of the pack's pups and gaurdian when their parents—or," he adds with a smile, "as the case might be for our current pups, parental figure—cannot. The role seems well suited to you, if you would have it." How strange this almost is, completing, he supposes, his transformation from a DeathMaker. Finishing what started the first time he had looked into the eyes of the Changerwolf SmallWonder, so long ago, in the midst of battle. And he did it on his own, without the Changers' magick. If only... No, he shakes the thoughts out of his head. He can't dwell on his own, personal grievances so much anymore. It requirs, he knows, a laying down of part of your own life—which lives for you and dreams for you—to be an Alpha, who must live and dream for his pack. It had been some time since last he had held the title of Alpha. How different that was, though, to what this will be. And requiring a completely different kind of leadership. But as Sarquint looks around the Clan, he nods to himself, and is glad that, at last, he has reached the other pole. Having not been in the company of many others before she came here, Piper isn't sure what Windchaser means by 'popular'. So, instead, she just tells her adopted mother about the fish. "Dey're very pretty, 'n' have all kindsa stories," she pauses, adding after a thought, "if you listen. But mostly dey're pretty, wit lotsa golds'n'blues'n'reds! 'Specially swimmin' round in dat water. I'll take you to see 'em, momma, after all dis is done." Piper doesn't particularily notice that she's called Windy 'momma', it only seems natural to her. WindChaser is the first shewolf she's been able to snuggle against, be cleaned by, even tickled. She hasn't forgotten Zodiac, and she knows that's her real mother, she knows she's Zodiac's daughter, but... Windy was just like her now mother, and Piper sees no reason not to call her such. Piper looks back to the other pack. Her attention is especially caught when Sunflash is referred to as her great-aunt. She watches the white shewolf, mesmerized for a moment. But when Seroko calls on her opinion, she nods frankly, and says, trying to make herself sound important and serious like they adults, "Dey'll do." [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 16:39:25 07/03/02 Wed OOC: Elder? I never really even thought about that myself. Sunny's very very old in Earth terms- she's been about since Kmitza first formed the Clans, and before that- but biologically, in Our World years she's only about three or four. BIC: "I am called SunflashFirewing of the Earth," she says; and not feeling ready to speak her birthname after long years of disuse, offers little more about herself than, "I am a Wolf of the Earth." As some wolves begin to say that they had heard the GreatOne and OldWays to only be myth, Sunflash smiles, almost secretively, but with great warmth. "The GreatOne and OldWays are not mere myth. I can speak thus because the GreatOne is my elder sister; and if she had been but a dream, then my life would have had very little joy." She turns her gaze to Seroko, listening as Sarquint answers her question, then adding her own two cents. "The Killers, as Sarquint say, follow the OldWays, the way of life uncomplicated by greed and avarice for magic. Some of you have asked what the OldWays are." Sunflash turns her calm gaze outwards, sweeping it over the forests. "If you look out over this Earth, you can see the OldWays in the balance of Nature, and the respect of all things. The OldWays are the delicate balance, the interconnection between all things and all beings; if they were ever to be destroyed, all life would perish. It is the Killers' lot to abide by this creed, to follow the OldWays; it is their curse that should they stray from that path, they should fall into darkness and become Death Makers." She smiles at Sarquint as everyone names him as a likely candidate for Alpha Male. It is an I-told-you-so expression, an almost mischievious look that reveals that not all about this wolf is wise, somber, or serene. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

He smiles at Nervelli's introduction, replying, "None of us are any more than we are, Nervelli," and then to Vren, who spoke of finding a 'worthy' pack to join, "Then I hope you find it here." When Seroko asks Sarquint what to expect, besides fighting DeathMakers, Sarquint answers so the whole pack can hear. "Until the DeathMakers make some sort of offense, Seroko, we simply live. And, I think, learn to live by the OldWays. Not necessarily just by asking others what the OldWays are, but by taking that and applying it to ourselves. As for pack life, we live and work together—as friends, family, or mere associates—as best we can. Relying on one another and supporting one another." He pauses for a bit, letting everyone catch that. "Another part of a pack is ranking. We at least need an Alpha or an Alpha pair. A choice to be made by the pack. And we need to decide whether or not we think Betas are necessary. I do not think it important, after that, to continue with ranking." Piper giggles as Windy tickles her white-furred tummy and she playfully bats away Windy's muzzle–but not, of course, in a way she think would hurt her! She nods, smiling broadly, as WindChaser asks if she swam. "Made some friends wit' da fishies!" Piper turns her attention to the others as they talk and introduce themselves. She opens her mouth to say "I'm Piper!", before remembering she already did and closes her jaws again. As Sarquint talks of ranks, she day-dreams about what it'd be like to be alpha. Having all the pack looking to you and up to you and... hmmm. Maybe I'll be'n Alp'a one day, she thinks silently to herself. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 15:06:12 07/02/02 Tue OOC: Umm... just for the sake of time I'm going to assume everyone has come up to listen to Sar and stuff. If you haven't actually posted it yet, just pretend. ^_^ Sarquint turns his head to Seroko, before addressing the others. "Don't worry if you don't know everyone," he answers for Sunflash, "neither do we. That's why I called everyone together." The black wolf turns, his cat-slit glowing green eyes passing over the new Killers—stopping only a moment on Icedeath—there isn't a bad number now. Much better than when he first arrived. "We've all come here for a similar purpose," he finally says, when he's sure all have gathered together; his voice is aimiable, but commands a certain amount of attention, "to become Killers. Since you're all here, I assume you've decided to make that commitment. For those of you who are a little uncertain exactly what that means, however, I'm going to volunteer Sunflash and Windchaser," he nods to both wolves in turn, "to help. I believe they are the most qualified to explain. However, there's more to being here than just learning the OldWays and fighting DeathMakers. We must also be a pack and live as a pack. Thus far, we've been grouped off on our own a bit. So perhaps we should all introduce ourselves. After all," he says with a smile, "if we're going to live together, we ought to know eachother." "I am Sarquint," the black wolf starts, "I've had experience in the Clans, though not before in the Killers." He doesn't directly say DeathMakers, after all, he stayed in the Changer Clan for a while, too. There's no reason to single himself out as a former Darkwolf. Piper crinkles her nose at Vren when he's not looking. She dislikes how he just dismissed her and Lunaia like they weren't interesting at all. Big stupid-head. They're just as interesting and nice as Nervelli! Her attention is grabbed away, however, when Sarquint howls, and when Nervelli tells them they need to go, Piper paddles back to shore. "We'll 'ave to come back," she says, shaking the wet out of her fur, "is fun here. Hey, Lunay!" she yips, looking slyly at her friend, "I'll race ya back to da others!" She gives the other pup a toothy grin then dashes off, running as fast as her little legs will carry her. She tumbles to a stop by WindChaser, and pads back over to her appointed gaurdian. Piper snuggles in between WindChaser's paws, getting comfortable—and probably getting WindChaser wet. Her emerald eyes watch the others, and when Sarquint calls for introductions, she pipes up, "'M Piper! 'n dat's Lunay," she adds, nodding to the other, purple-eyed pup. Natil? Somehow the name sounded faintly familiar, perhaps spoken long ago in his old pack. The GreatOne, the Healer Clan, and the Killer Clan he recognized from the myths and legends told to him by the elders of his pack long ago; but they had been little more than myths, hadn't they? "Called here by whom?" He murmured quietly to himself as one of his gray ears flickered briefly towards the female wolf that sat near him and he nodded. Finally he heaved a heavy sigh and sat back on his haunches. Talk of leadership and calling all 'the wolves' together, it was all a mystery to him. Date Posted: 19:13:31 07/01/02 Mon It was the slow rustling of a very deliberate beast in the bushes nearby that brought the newest arrival. Pointed gray ears, the tips black, shone briefly in a patch of sunlight before vanishing below the cover of another bush again. Finally the lone wolf stepped from his hiding place and into the clearing already crowded with many others. Fur of gray with a thin coat of brown and black gleamed brightly as the wolf moved into the sunlight, his pale yellow eyes staring curiously at the others. The shiny silver furs that intermixed with the white ones along his muzzle marked him as older of age, but not elderly. His chest was heaving slightly as if he had run a great distance in a short period of time. Taking a step forward, the stranger shook his head perplexed sort of fashion. Date Posted: 11:40:46 07/01/02 Mon "Oh," Piper says thoughtfully as she paddles in the cool water. She's quiet for some time, and it can be inferred from her furrled little brow that she's concentrating on what Nervelli said, trying to make sense of it. Hunting isn't killing because they have to hunt, or they'll die because they'll starve. But doesn't their prey die, too? But I dun wanna die, Piper thinks, but I dun wanna haffa kill some'in else to live. But I gotta live. The last thought, she knows, wasn't entirely her conscious mind. It was the instinct deep inside of her. The instinct of all living creatures, to survive. "We shoul' be thankful, den," Piper finally says, "'cause dey gotta die so we can live. But one day we'll die, too..." Piper pauses, trailing off. She stares into the depths of the pool, watching the sunlight reflect into its crystal depths. So strange, and so beautiful is this world. But when she looks back up and sees Lunaia, though still deeply troubled and unsure of all of this, the playfulness and mischief of a pup re-enters her. She plunges herself under water, and swims best she can submerged—fighting the upwards tug—to the other pup, and boings up behind her, sending off huge waves. Grinning and laughing, she suddenly notices the new wolf among them: Vren. Her green eyes peer up at him from behind Lunaia, but he seems friendly enough! "'Iya!" she chirps. "I don't know why we have to kill," she answers the pups soberly, "We hunt to eat, but that isn't really killing. Well, I mean, we only take what me need. We respect our prey. I guess that's the Balance Natil was talking about." She looks thoughtful. "We kill other wolves sometimes because they're bad and they try to harm us. And because they don't respect the Balance?" She tilts her head to the side. "Does that make sense at all? I don't explain things very well." She takes a few steps forward to deeper water and dunks under, surfacing in time to see Vren's entrance. "Hello," she says amiably. He's got his share of self confidence, she thinks, a bit amused. Date Posted: 20:36:10 06/30/02 Sun A faint humming is carried through the air towards the pack; moments later a medium-sized young wolf can be seen. He moves with an almost jaunty step, his feet almost bouncing him along through the forest loam. Most of his body is black, though a smokey gray color can be seen splashing the backs of his ears, the very tip of his muzzle and tail, and the bottoms of his paws, almost as though he had been walking through ash and it had stained his fur. His eyes are the typical chocolate brown of most canine eyes. The wolf pauses for a moment, and his black nose can be seen twitching as he inhales the scents of the pack around him. He ambles towards the puppies and Nervelli, flashing the small group a grin which he assumes is charming, his thick tail sweeping the ground behind him like a brush. "Good day," he says, apparently to the group, though his eyes seem to direct it more at Nervelli. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Don't worry.~ He feels suddenly protective of WindChaser. Really, she was the closest thing he had to a healthy father-daughter relationship. He knows he's not really Windy's father, but Icedeath isn't much of a father, either. His ears perk up when a new scent hits him. A familar one. Sunflash. He smiles to himself, waiting to see if the Earth Wolf will disclose herself. Piper watches intently as Lunaia stalks the waterbugs, finally snapping one in her little jaw. She looks a little doubtful, and doesn't particularily like the sight of the little waterbug's leg dangling from Lunaia's mouth. Piper had thought the the dancing bugs had been pretty... "Oh, I bet I can!" she declares when Nervelli says she wishes she could skate like the water bugs. "Watch!" Piper flings herself into the pond, purposely knocking over Lunaia and getting her all wet. She gigles, grinning from ear to ear and paddles further out into the water, where her paws can't touch the smooth stones of the pool's bottom. Giggling still, she splashes Lunaia and Nervelli, using her muzzle to fling up water. "Well, guess s'not jus' like da waterbugs," she admits. Paddling in the crystaline water, Piper looks down at the fish nipping and tickling her paws. They're all so beautiful—irredescent orange and gold and blue—everything is so beautiful. She smiles a little shyly to the fish, then looks back up, over at the waterbugs who have all scurried away from Lunaia, fearing the same fate as the one she caught. Hmm... Her mind freezes for a moment, but she forces herself not to be the gaping, gawking child of her youth who loved to stop and demand recognition from her father. Forcing herself to think, albeit brokenly, she blinks and swallows nervously. "But- he's busy with Chame- so- I'd better not interrupt them. I'll, just- stay here, for a while. And, uh, watch. Kinda. Without eavesdropping, of course." She folds her ears back humbly. Don't go too far away from me, Sar...." WindChaser [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 08:04:04 06/30/02 Sun "Yes, I'll play with you." Nervelli smiles down at the pups. She sits down at the edge of the pool to peer down into its murky depths. If she squinted, she could almost make out shapes in the watery shadows. "You're right," she laughs to Piper, catching a glimpse of a fish, "It would a shame to eat a friend, speshly if it's such a pretty one." The brown wolf lets her attention wander. "Look at those waterbugs," she suggests finally, getting down on her stomach to be eye level with the spunky little bugs skating over the surface. "I wish I could do that." She wonders vaguely if the pups know how to swim. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 07:29:07 06/30/02 Sun OOC: Btw, for all y'all (there, look, Dani!) complaining about serious conversatoin (=P!) it's almost entirely telepathic, so really, Sar and Windy are just kinda watchin' the pups. (And they're not elder wolves, nyah, especially not Windchaser, at least... ^^;) */rant* =D IC: Sarquint shakes his head at WindChaser's question, also shaking away his own thoughts. "No, nothing's wrong," he assures her. ~You're right, though, there may not be more for a long time. So we'll have to live with what is here now. And it is not so bad, if we pool our resources...~ Sarquint pauses, then says, "But we needn't think about all this right now. As long as we are simply aware of the threat, it does no good to fret and worry about it. We should be much better off, for now, I think, just living. Like I said, the closer we are, and the better we can work together, the better off we'll be." Watching the pups bound off towards the creak, Sarquint continues, "I know a little about the OldWays. Meaning to say, I know of them. And of the curse. But just a basic knowledge; they faded out long before I ever left the DeathMakers." Sarquint's glad to see Nervelli follow after the pups. It should be good for them, to have a whole pack raise them, as was supposed to be. He feared he had worn little Lunaia out, traveling with her so far. And perhaps both these pups, without siblings, could grow and learn together. "But Windy," Sarquint says with a very small, forced smile, "perhaps you should greet your father?" "Ooh!" Piper squeals as they bound over towards the creek and pool. "I 'adn't thoughta da muudddd!!! An' I betcha dere's lotsa fishies! Mebbe we can catchun an' bring it back fer da big wulves!" The little black-caped wolf stumbles to a stop when they reach the pond. Her green eyes widen at the sight of a series of little mini-waterfalls as the brooke tumbles into the clear little pool. "Ooohh... s'pretty," she whispers in awe of this world she's still so new to. She looks up as Nervelli comes after them, wagging her little tail. "'Re you gonna play wif us?" she asks, sounding as adorable as possible in hopes of getting a 'yes'. Hey, the more the merrier! "we'z gonna get fishes," she growls, the serious little hunter now, "for da pack." Piper prowls over to the edge of the pool, her emerald eyes narrowed as she gazes into the water. She jumps up with glee as she spots a bright orange-flecked-with-black fish, with a beatiful fanning tail. She watches it intently, but with wonder, not hunger. It's so pretty... maybe it'll be their friend... oh! but then they can't eat it. She looks back to Lunaia and Nervelli and states very matter-of-factly, "No, I dun think we can eat dese'uns. Dere my friends." [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

You're right though, at least I should hope that we'd have a little while longer before we'd need to act. I don't know if you were here early enough to meet Natil, or at least hear him or see him. He called us here to remember the OldWays and to keep them alive. But he spoke of using magic sparingly, and reminded Killers of the curse they bear." Everywolf's really nice, even if some are a bit too serious. Maybe the pups can help him remedy that. T'will be fun. "Well, let's see..." Brown eyes turn thoughtful as he muses, counting names and faces in his mind. "There's WindChaser... and Sarquint... and Nervelli... and Wolfe... but wait, she's gone so maybe she doesn't count... um..." Chame counts the ones listed so far quickly, excluding Wolfe this time, and continues. "And Piper and Lunaia and..." As others come she regards them curiously, but does not move to speak just yet. She grins as the pups make their entrance and tunes into their conversation. She isn't in the mood for the heavy talk of the elder wolves. Not really. Maybe she'd go down to the stream with the pups. You know, keep an eye on them. Someone had to, right? And Chame - she looks over at him - he seemed keen enough to join in on fun. Maybe, just maybe, for the first time in a long while, she could be happy here. She swishes her brown tail at the thought. It made her feel a funny warmness inside, a feeling she rather liked. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 16:53:54 06/29/02 Sat Sarquint's eyes return fondly to the two playing pups as he speaks with WindChaser. Watching the pups, the thought of the DeathMakers grows darker on his mind. ~For now we'll wait. Build bonds between ourselves, grow stronger. The better we can work together and the more we know eachother, the better our chances our if the DeathMakers do attack. Which I have no doubt they will... eventually. There are two sincerios I think likely, knowing the mind of a Darkwolf. Either they will do nothing for quite some time as they toy with eachother and for power. It is unlikely they would come to a group consensus about anything before they had a definite leader, which can take some time to come by. Or one among them will use an attack as a try for power, to show the others that they are ready and able to lead.~ He pauses, shaking his head. He does not miss, at all, the life of a Darkwolf. ~Hopefully for us it will take some time. I was disappointed to see Dymlos there. We were friends, once, and he had come to the Light for a time. But perhaps there are more to come here, still. Another thing we'll have to wait for.~ He looks back to Windchaser with a jaunty grin and winks, "Besides, kid, I can take those scroungy DeathMakers." Sarquint follows WindChaser's eyes around the forest clearing. It was true, there were not many here. Frightfully few, actually, especially since the pups–in terms of battle–were more of a burden than an asset. Though a very well-worth one. And Sarquint's eyes, too, stop on the white wolf, and flash coldly. Unlike WindChaser, he reccognizes IceDeath immediately, and it's all he can do to keep his growl quiet and low. Of course, there's less reason for Sarquint to hate the white wolf anymore. Intially, it had simply been jealousy over SmallWonder. But that had certainly changed, though Sarquint still remembered returning to the Changer Clan, being chased out by the white wolf. Neither of them had been ideal fathers, true, but at least Sarquint had come back and tried, and made most mistakes as attempts to protect his family. Most. Perhaps Sarquint had been jealous, too, then, that Icedeath was still Windchaser's father; her real father... But, as Sarquint recalls what he had said to WindChaser only moments ago, he looks away, tempering his rekindled hatred. Past is past. There are too few here to turn any away. They must all learn to work and live together. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 16:14:56 06/29/02 Sat WindChaser nods and smiles at the thought of her children as babies. "They did. And they had every reason to." "It is good to see you again as well, Sarquint. I always miss you when you are gone. You will be welcome here as long as you would like to stay; I would hope you took whatever path led you to the most happiness, and yet even I know that there is never a clear way. Perhaps, in time, my mother will find us... but I know you and she will always meet again. For that is the way it has always been." "The news of the Darkwolves is ominous, indeed, but I suppose it is to be expected. We can at least hope that they will spend a bit of time more bickering amongst themselves before they decide to move against us. I... would hope... that there were more of the rest of us, more of the Light left, or at least here. I feel so responsible already, Sarquint - what should we do?" She always keeps at least two of her senses tuned to the playing pups, but at the last she looks around at their small Clan, taking stock. Chame, Nervelli, Wolfe - who seems to have gone into hiding for the time being - Sarquint, herself... and... who was the large, white male? His scent seems familiar, and she knows that she should recognize him... but perhaps he is too far away for that. Windy refocuses her attention on Sarquint. Date Posted: 13:24:08 06/29/02 Sat Chame tilts his head curiously as Natil speaks advice and nuzzles farewell, blinking dark brown eyes in confusion. He's not staying to help us...? But Natil had said he'd be near and would help them if they needed it. Well... His tail wags happily at the sight of another pup - two pups to play with! Though maybe he was too old to play...? Nah. Everywolf plays with puppies sometime. He wonders if they know any good tricks to play. Maybe they could all get the older wolves to lighten up a bit more. Yeah, that'd be fun. Still a little torn between playing with the pups and being with the adults, feeling the uncertainty of not knowing which group he belongs with, Chame is about to try saying hello to the two puppies when the chill that comes with Icedeath touches his senses. He turns, curious, and his tail waves in greeting at the sight of another apparent wintermage and arctic wolf. "Yeah, we're the Killers, I suppose," he says cheerily, equally uncautious. Date Posted: 10:37:02 06/29/02 Sat Sarquint grins wolfishly, his bone-white teeth showing, at WindChaser's question. "Not so bad, and I'm still not all that old, kid," he tells her laughingly; he hadn't called her that in some time. "But really, I don't mind at all. I missed Brandy's pupihood, and Aurore and Lukka's. It's nice, to be able to care for one of their little ones." He doesn't say how nice it would be to once again be able to see the faces of any of his children and be able to greet them with a smile and a nuzzle. "And some of yours," he adds, mostly to get his thoughts away from regretful memories of Lukka and Aurore, pity for Brandy, longing for Delwyn, "called me grandpa." Sarquint smiles, watching the two pups introduce themselves to eachother. It'll be good for Lunaia–probably for them both–to have a playmate. ~Before I came here,~ Sarquint's telepathic voice speaks in Windchaser's mind with tones of cation and seriousness, though he does not let it show on him outwardly, ~I came upon a grouping of DeathMakers. And I fear they at least double the number here. Alastair was there, and Dymlos, Ishtar, Tyrone. One who I believed was Darinya's whelping. And at least three more I did not reccognize. I did not get too close. By the sounds of it, they are already playing power games, and moving quickly.~ He looks up to WindChaser now, ~To be truthful, Windy, I did not intend to stay, and it was not here I was called. I had hoped to go... at least search for your mother.~ I miss her so much. ~But I think, now, that I will stay. It is good to see you again.~ Piper looks up at the adults for a moment, suspiciously. She can almost tell that they're speaking of more serious matters, but she can't tell what. And the idea of a new friend and playmate is more exciting to her young mind. "Hi Lu- er, Lunay?" She has a bit of trouble with the name, concentrating hard to get it. "'M Piper," she finally says cheerfully, waging her tail. She thinks for a moment, looking around at the saftey of WindChaser's paws, then growls in satisfaction with herself. Looking back at Lunaia, she suddenly springs, tumbling over with the other puppy. "C'mon!" she yips, "dere's a stream anna ppol! Wanna go see?" Piper smiles happily, waiting bouncingly for her new friend. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

He looks at Piper more closely when WindChaser says who her mother is and he makes the connection. He had only seen Zodiac once or twice. During battles and espionage. He had been a DeathMaker then. As I still seem to be now, he thinks guiltily as he's reminded of the call, and where it led him. "Hello, Piper," he greets the black-caped pup. "Would you like a playmate? But you'll have to wait. Stay there, okay?" Sarquint gives an enigmatical smile. He trots back into the brush and shadows for a moment. When he returns, he is gently carrying a small pup. Her coat is a soft gray, highlighted with silver. The pup's eyes are a vibrant violet. Sarquint sets the little pup down at his paws, facing Piper. "Her name is Lunaia." He looks back up to WindChaser, adding, telepathically, ~Brandy left her with me, not long after she was whelped. The poor thing, but Brandy couldn't do it.
