Paul
There is a ridge just under the floor at the back of the case but I do not know how far back it goes. I had the case all out when I had to re-mount the keel ram. And so felt around but didnt really establish a huge amount??
On Optica the hull just behind the keel box must be almost an inch and a half thick as they have got the hull thickness, the keel box thickness and the bonding and glass on top of all that. I took the bolts out that go through the lot and attached a bar which the ram mounts onto across the back and the bolts where almost 3 inches long.
On the subject of high moisture readings I hade Optica checked and all readings where very low. BUT this year I have a serious case of solvent entrapment on the water line.
Where the original light blue boot top was gelled into the hull then the dark blue gell for the rest of the hull laid over the top, It looks like a fine bubble rap. this is round the whole boat, 2" inchewide strip. when I plane of 1mm you could see the other side of the bubble in the dark blue gell. I took advice and a moisture content reading which was VERY low and the surveyor confirmed that it was not Osmosis which we know and fear and just plane of all old gell and wash down and fill and fair. I have removed all the original light blue with a cheap electric planer and chipped off the stubern bits using a £3.00 hand block plane which I just keep putting an edge on with an angle grinder and 5 hours work later--Bobs your uncle-- so now waiting for a bit warmer weather before filling
Worth checking your own boats but I think this is a 1 off problem that they didnt quite get the curing time right before applying the second coat.
Kim
