Gryphon Sanctuary
~+~*you looked around in awe. the city was centered around a massive crystal pillar running down through the earth as far as you could see. there were houses carved into it, with rope bridges leading to the round walls surrounding it, which were also made of crystal, where more homes were carved. everything here shimmered with an un-earthly beauty. bridges spiraled down as far as you could see. at the far north, there appeared to be a series of special bridges that led to the lower levels. it was quite possibly the most beautiful thing you had ever seen- everything covered in flowers and vines, not to mention the majestic gryphons that were soaring around the grand expanse of the very deep pit. all illumination seemed to be provided by unnatural sunlight radiating from points in the crystal. you had been told that the central pillar was the source of homes, and the outer walls were shops and spare rooms for travellers, though those rooms were seldom used. at the bottom, the pillar connected to the lake, which was of the purest water- and each little island told a story. off to the side there was a passage leading to the sirface, where you could access the meadows and forests tended by the anthromorphs living here. you watched them running about on the bridges- and then noticed one of the creature in question- a Quezacoatl- a magnificent golden serpent with long golden wings, easily tripple the size of the Gryphons present, as it wound its way down the pillar without the aid of its wings to help it glide. the sheer size of this place was mind boggling. you slowly worked your way around the ledge on which you had entered, and got to the first bridge leading down. it fealt very unsafe- it was swinging in all manor of directions, and aside from the very old rope holding it at the two ends, there was nothing to support you in the center. you slowly made your way to the first ledge of the pillar, and sighed. you needed to find Kakrine- but she would probably be flying around somewhere.*~+~
