Xander's tragic flaw. He thinks he knows, thinks he understands. But if Buffy and Faith don't understand, it's not possible for Xander. They are the Slayer, Faith was right, human rules cannot apply to them.(Human rules are the ties that bind the Slayer.)
Xander will deceive. From Jesse to Dark Willow, Xander copes by applying the rules of humanity to the Hellmouth. In Restless he furtively looks around as he ascends stairs, next scene, Riley and Adam. We have seen Xander as soldier referenced many times over the years. I'm sticking with Xander working for the initiative to 'protect' Buffy. Question for you? What was Adam's purpose? Was he right when he told Buffy that they were alike?

2)Are the *Bad* PTBs always Bad ? Are the *Good* PTBs always good ? Though the answer to that has already been clearly stated. But not where you might think. NEW: If you've heard the piping voice, and been blinded by the white, you know what I'm referring to.

Good and Bad are human constructs. Was Sweet bad? OMWF was the only time anyone really 'talked'. I think we're going to meet the ancients who really don't care about evil. Or good. Don't call them BB's, they are so beyond that.

Is Lurky the only purveyor of Afterlife in town? How *Tragic* would it be for one character to avail him/herself of the alternative ? NEW: Maybe I should have uncapitalized Afterlife. Afterall, it's such a common occurence. Always? Well, maybe not.
Xander as vampire? I don't see it. Though we do have Death of a Salesman with Buffy yelling at Riley about games and Xander lying dead at Harmony's feet.

4)Is the map the territory ? Is the Playground in your mind's eye the backward symbol or the reality ?

I think we discover this season that reality is much larger than any map. I keep thinking about Spike's 'madness' and how he was the only one that saw Ben/Glory. And remember all of Dru's talk about the stars?(I read alot of Lovecraft last night)

5)Is a Shark evil ? Is an Evil Shark with a *higher* purpose Evil ?
I think you're refering to Xander becoming a vamp to help Buffy. Problem here is that wouldn't Xander know that his good intentions would be replaced with a blood thirsty demon? What other than(tragic flaw) would convince him that he alone could control the demon?

6)Who sings songs of things to come ? Why do they sing of sorrow? I'm thinking greek tragedy here. cassandra. Perhaps this is Spike's role this season?
OMWF's songs were also of things to come. And they were ultimately very sorrowful.

I think there was a lot of crossover last season. I think cordi and Spike are the ones on a similar path. They are the two wild cards, now possessing something they were never meant to have. Do they work for the PTB? Interesting that they both seem to be having visions.

9)"Gotta be with movin' forward," says Xander in Restless. "Like a shark with feet..." *Forward* ? Where are they both moving forward to ? Where are they going? For that matter where are we all going, though by different means ? Interesting that the loanshark in TR was interested in kittens. Kittens before they became cats. Restless refers to the Slayer as cat. Buffy as kitten.

10)If Holtz had been vamped, would he have still hated Angel/Angelus ? Do you think Angelus will have family problems when he comes to Sunnydale ? Well we know Darla wasn't too happy after she was vamped by Dru. Though she gave in to her bloodlust eventually. Dru held the killing of her family against Angel. Spike didn't appear to resent Dru but he certainly had issues with 'daddy' Angelus. Vampires do seem conflicted. I would say yes, Holtz would have hated Angelus. But question, who would be Holtz's sire?

11)This clue is hidden in plain sight. Blatantly, insolently even. But in the Jossverse, applying the concept defined by the clue could result in some seriously eldritch geometry. : ) Unravel the clue and apply the concept upon the fulcrum of Restless, and watch a 7 years tale unfold. Interesting I was about to answer no, of course not but I have nothing to base that on except my love for the character. But thinking about it I think Xander would easily kill an innocent for them. Xander's all about commitment. He is a soldier. He'll do what he thinks needs to be done.
