Subject: Game of Disturbing Questions, New Edition

Hello and Welcome! So you want to play the question game and test your wits against my theory ? Very good. The more tadpoles the merrier! : )
But before we start the game in earnest, some ground rules.
I've moved the game off the Cross and Stake so that only posters willing to play the game and be spoiled can participate. If you're here, then you enjoy Riddles more than Surprises. No Innocence, Passion or Becoming for you. Just Riddles and Puzzles. Please don't spoil the surprises (See WTP' admonition further below) for other Cross and Stake posters by revealing the location of this board publicly for all to see (that goes especially for lurkers who outnumber posters by 20 to 30 to 1). Please share the location by E-mail.
This is not a guessing game, where you go: Is it Faith? Is it Xander? Is it Buffy ? etc... If you provide an answer, give us the reasoning: that's more than half the fun! When you do find the answers, try applying them to other questions and try to make connections, you might receive a massive epiphany! But if you do, DON'T share it on the board! Other posters might still want to keep playing. Shoot me an E-mail, and I'll tell you if it jells with my theory.
About the theory. Though it fits most of the facts and spoilers, you should know that initially it was derived primarily from my understanding of Buffy and Xander and Spike. It doesn't mean that it doesn't account for the other characters, especially since this season all their journeys will be greatly intertwined, but that predictions about the other characters will mostly occur through when they interact with Buffy, Xander, and Spike. Plot details about Willow, Dawn and Giles, and to a lesser extent Faith, are thus more difficult to establish until I get more specific spoilers to plug into the theory. This does not apply to the general thrust of their journeys which is quite firmly set.
On to the Game! Good Luck!
1)Why did Xander believe he could help Faith ? NEW: Three must lead, one must deceive. What will be the result ?
2)Are the *Bad* PTBs always Bad ? Are the *Good* PTBs always good ? Though the answer to that has already been clearly stated. But not where you might think. NEW: If you've heard the piping voice, and been blinded by the white, you know what I'm referring to.
3)Is Lurky the only purveyor of Afterlife in town? How *Tragic* would it be for one character to avail him/herself of the alternative ? NEW: Maybe I should have uncapitalized Afterlife. Afterall, it's such a common occurence. Always? Well, maybe not.
4)Is the map the territory ? Is the Playground in your mind's eye the backward symbol or the reality ?
5)Is a Shark evil ? Is an Evil Shark with a *higher* purpose Evil ?
6)Who sings songs of things to come ? Why do they sing of sorrow?
7) Let me rephrase old question 7. Upon further reconsideration, it is the weakest part of the speculation. Very possible. But not the only possibility. Upon the road of Fate, the Knight Descendant and the Knight Ascendant were Bound to meet. Asked the Child of Black and gold: "What did you give for Love ?" "Death and Life, my soul,"
answered the other. Asked the Childe of Gold and black: "What will you give for Love ?" "Life and Death, my soul," answered the other. Which is the greater sacrifice ?
8)Did you catch the cross-over last year ? If you haven't, don't worry. It was gone in a blast.
9)"Gotta be with movin' forward," says Xander in Restless. "Like a shark with feet..." *Forward* ? Where are they both moving forward to ? Where are they going? For that matter where are we all going, though by different means ?
10)If Holtz had been vamped, would he have still hated Angel/Angelus ? Do you think Angelus will have family problems when he comes to Sunnydale ?
11)This clue is hidden in plain sight. Blatantly, insolently even. But in the Jossverse, applying the concept defined by the clue could result in some seriously eldritch geometry. : ) Unravel the clue and apply the concept upon the fulcrum of Restless, and watch a 7 years tale unfold. ANSWERED: "Supersymmetry," both mirror and true, short and long.
12)That Xander would lay down his life for Willow, Anya or Buffy is a given. But would he kill the innocent for one of them ?
13)What are these "things you can't protect yourself from?" If you knew them, it would blow your mind.
A riddle based on what I hope happens. Too juicy to ignore, but won't necessarily make it to the screen.
14) Rage, Passion, Hate
What song precipitates their fate ?
Rage, Passion, Hate
What Moon to set their course ?
Rage, Passion, Hate
What star to find their way ?
Rage, Passion, Hate
Will they strife ? For whose fate ?
Rage, Passion, Hate.

15) When is Blindness a blessing, and Clarity the worst kind of Blindness? When is a Mistake not a mistake, and why will the difference be a cause for tears ?





William the Poet's questions/comments on my question. Warning his questions are of a higher order than mine. Although some of his comments, if properly interpreted, will help with the resolution of some of my original questions.
3Strikes needs to remember that whole shouting-Vader-is-Luke's-father warning. *gr* Surprise is the purest state us humans can attain.
Some counter-questions you might want to consider . . .
1. Another interesting question is why Angel believed he could help Faith.
2. Don't forget that we're not dealing with order versus chaos. Those both represent the same side -- or either side -- even though they don't know it most of the time. (B5 did a pretty good job on that one) Human beings don't really want either order or chaos . . . they want harmony (no, not
the vamp, kiddies. We're talking existential states here.) There's a key to a lot of this in the Berger and Luckmann book that Willow and the class were discussing in "Life Serial," where Buffy felt completely out of her depth. More than one key, actually. Good Boy? Bad Boy? Maybe both?
3. A vampire with a soul is just a vampire with a soul . . . but a goodPrio Motu is an anomaly.
4. "The map is not the territory" Hmm. Can you Count on the answer? That raises a very interesting additional question about exactly what makes a person a person . . . or the whole issue of memories and vampires. Might be an "A" question -- but more than likely it would be a "null A" question, if you really understood it. And asking the right questions in the right way might make you Normal Again. Or not. Now, is this something that we should Vogt on? And you can get even deeper and ask yourself exactly what the function of a soul is in the Jossverse, and are you sure you know . . .
5. Do the ends *ever* justify the means? Anyone hear what I'm saying? Testing . . . three . . . two . . . one (And we're still doing it by the
numbers . . . )
6. And was that the main purpose of the singing? And do songs sung blue lead to something other than a Neil Diamond retrospective? And are they all just puppets of a blind fate?
7. Knights . . . Shmites . . . don't forget -- it's all about the goats! Besides, if it was Knights, then the most important question would be "who's your sire?" Either that, or who is going in which direction.

on the Joss comments. Next year on BtVS is really going to be very, very
