Last week I took the train to the university where I recently finished the MSc course. Trying to drum up a bit of contract work to earn some cash. The return ticket cost five pounds and fifty pence of Her Majesty's fine currency. To drive there in my unreasonably big car (by UK standards) would cost half that much in petrol.

There is NO incentive to use public transport and reduce my carbon footprint in the UK. In fact, new car sales is one of the main indicators used by the government as a measure of economic recovery.

Are my flights to Scotland for a pound environmentally sound? Probably, if all the passengers chose to drive instead.

I'm going green. Must see the doctor about that.
