 Alexis' eyes went round as she stared at the Cheysuli warrior coming at them. Her mind went further blank as she took in the terrifying sight that was behind the Cheysuli. "What in the name of... Jeff?" She whispered. "What ARE those things?"

Alexis had never heard of a Jellicle. Nor had she ever seen anything like one. It was Monet's tender tone that brought her back into herself.

::Liren... You must keep it together for the boy. He needs that Cheysuli warrior's help though he does not know it yet.::

Alexis frowned and held firmly to Jeff's shoulders as she peered out at the sight before her. ::But Monet... He will think me a tradior. I don't want to hurt him? HE TRUSTS ME!!::

Monet began moving Gwen inch by inch to the safety of a nearby cave. He knew he could both guard her and tend to her in the safety of the cave. ::Alex... What do you think you should do?::

Alexis screwed her face up tight. She didn't like it. It didn't seem right to her. And yet...

Then she had it. And idea that would make Jeff feel less alone in this. ::Listen Monet. Here is what I need you to do. When Jef and I run back in your direction, let out a scream. That will scare us and we will turn and flee right back into the warriors hands. After that I want you and Gwen to stay close but hidden for a bit. Give Jeff some time to get to know that warrior. Got it?::

Monet gently placed Gwen in the cool shade of the cave and laid down near her. Again he cleaned her wounds. ::As you wish Alex, but...:: He drew his tender tongue across Gwens face and purred to let her know she was safe. ::Be gentle with the boy. You are right. He does need a friend right now. Perhaps in more ways thatn one.::
