Dark emeralds cast forward to the wall, brooding and focused on nothing, he let his lover sob in silence, knowing nothing he could say would take away the pain and it was best to simply wait, be there for Alex when the mortal turned to him. Heh. Now the immortal would be here for him. Quite a change in their relationship already. When was the last time the vampire had been there for anybody, a shoulder on which to cry and at least an attempt at comfort? Lifting his contact on Alex, he shifted to make allowance for the other to turn to him and he shook his head to signify the apology unneeded. Alex had not asked for this to happen and the immortal permitted himself to acknowledge the twinge of compassion that struck an icy note in his glacial heart. And the request did not surprise him, nor did it upset him. Oh no, he understood more than anything else how exquisite a gift immortality was and, as deeply in love with warmth as he was, he had to believe that he would surrender renewed mortality instantly to feel another's fangs pull him back into timeless death. He had every intention of bringing Alex back into his eternity and the meeting of eyes spoke such silent meaning as he brought a hand to stroke the soft gold away from Alex's temple. Had the male ever doubted that he would be welcomed back into the embrace of these death-chilled arms? Dipping down to taste the honeyed-human lips with a lingering slowness, his hand ran down the pulsing neck to gently guide Alex to lie back. Welcome home, love.
