Date Posted: 15:06:43 05/11/05 Wed In reply to: Craven 's message, "Dark Demise" on 14:27:35 05/11/05 Wed Baylina was captivated by the shear size of the castle, even as she moved through several dark corridors. She could hear the distinct movements of others, but she did not go to any great length to pinpoint their locations. Bay halted as the men pushed open the huge wooden doors that permitted entrance into a large room, and then entered in behind the king. It took several moments before her eye adjusted to the lighting, so she remained still until she could see clearly. Sometimes blindness in one eye caused a feeling of vulnerability, and it made her a bit more aware of possibilities. Baylina sat quietly, still remotely confused by the whole turn of events, though she could not have her questions answered. As he spoke, she could no longer hide the uncertainty. Why was he interested in her life…? No one else had cared before, so why did he ask those cursed questions? She had no intention of telling him more than he needed to know, so Baylina chose her words carefully, making sure that she said only what was important. “My name is Baylina and I am a Sarmatian.” She told him simply to introduce herself. Her words were not all pronounced correctly, but she was trying. Was she really not in trouble? “The ways of life are different where I’m from…” She paused, not sure what would be worth saying and what she should keep to herself. “I guess the main difference is women are allowed to fight along side men…we are equal.” She told him coolly. “Unlike here, a woman can’t even marry until she has killed a man.” Baylina watched him in an attempt to see what he might be thinking; however, she took the initiative to continue. “My people wander; we don’t have one home, but we conquer as we move along. My home is aboard a horse…or it was anyway.” At the thought of her homeland, Bay dropped her hand to one of the weapons carried at her side. Luckily, the cloak kept them concealed, along with the other things that Rome would consider abnormal. She did not tell him the painful reasons for leaving her people, or how she had ended up in Rome…to be honest, Bay did not even know why she had traveled there. “Perhaps…” She began, finally determined to get her questions answered, “you can tell me why you brought me here.” //And you can’t fight the tears that ain’t coming\\//Or the moment of truth in your lies\\ //When everything feels like the movies\\//Yeah, you bleed just to know your alive\\ //And I don’t want the world to see me\\//Cause I don’t think that they’d understand\\ //When everything’s made to be broken\\//I just want you to know who I am.\\ [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
