Super 14 Final Pick the Margin -- Katiegirl, 02:31:35 05/30/08 Fri [4]
Crusaders who have only lost two games all season and are at their home ground. This is the coaches last game with them before he heads off to coach the Australian National Team, he has been there for a long time, so the troops will want to give him a good farewell vs
Waratahs who have had a mixed season, but they too will lose their coach (albeit in very different circumstances). As a tribute to the fact that it was management and not players who wanted to terminate his contract, they will want him to go out on a high note.

Super Fourteen Draw Week Thirteen -- Katiegirl, 23:50:45 05/07/08 Wed [5]
W:7 L:3 D:1 v Force
W:6 L:5 Hurricanes are at home, with both teams coming off a win, here's hoping the travel has effected the Force (not that I'm biased!!). Should be close, but I think the 'canes will pull it off.
W:4 L:7 v Brumbies
W:6 L:5 Bulls are at home and will be feeling confident after their win over the Waratahs last week. The Brumbies on the other hand were on the wrong end of a 20 - 10 scoreline. Would like to see the Bulls win this one, and they are capable.
W:2 L:9 v Blues
W:6 L:5 The Highlanders might have surprised all with a win last week, but against the Blues I don't think they can do it.
W:3 L:7 D:1 v Crusaders
W:10 L:1 This one should be an easy pick. The only unknown will be the score!
W:7 L:3 D:1 v Cheetahs
W:1 L:10 Again, a game where the only thing up for debate will be the score.
W:1 L:9 D:1 v Chiefs
W:7 L:4 The Chiefs are coming off a one point loss last week and will be looking to make their trip to South Africa as profitable as possible. Easily done against the Lions I think.
W:7 L:4 v Waratahs

Super Fourteen Draw Week Twelve -- Katiegirl, 18:49:40 04/28/08 Mon [7]
W:9 L: 1 v Sharks
W:7 L:2 D:1 Crusaders are still the team to beat in the competition, but they lost to the Chiefs two weeks ago and their win over the Blues was only by six points. That said, they are at home and are hard to beat with home ground advantage. Meantime the Sharks have just come off a loss to the Waratahs and I don't think they will manage a win here.
W:3 L:6 D:1 v Blues
W:5 L:5 Both teams are coming off losses last weekend so each will be looking to make the most of this game. Reds have been poor this season, but, the Blues haven't played to their best either. I am picking the Blues for this game.
W:1 L:9 v Highlanders
W:1 L:9 These teams are equally matched at the bottom end of the table. I would like to see the Highlanders win, but I think the Cheetahs could pull it off at home.
W:6 L:3 D:1 v Lions
W:1 L:8 D:1 Hurricanes are at home (yay, I get to go to a game) and should be able to win against the very bottom of the table Lions easily.
W:5 L:5 v Chiefs
W:7 L:3 Chiefs have had a great run during their home phase of the competition, now they are out on the road. I would like to think they could keep their momentum going, but the Force at home are good. Chiefs for me.
W:3 L:7 v Waratahs
W:8 L:2 Even with the travel from Australia to South Africa, I think the Waratahs have the edge here.
W:6 L:4 v Brumbies
W:6 L:4 These two teams are only separated by points differential on the table and this could be anyone's game. Both teams are coming of wins last weekend and the Brumbies have traveled from Australia to South Africa. I'm on the fence on this one.

Super Fourteen Draw Week Nine -- Katiegirl, 18:33:39 04/13/08 Sun [5]
W:5 L:3 v Crusaders
W:8 L:0 As much as I would love the Chiefs to win, I'm too realistic and can't see them topping the Crusaders.
W:2 L:5 D:1 v Force
W:5 L:4 Reds may be at home, but they haven't had a very good year unlike the Force who seem to have come into their own. I like the Force in this game.
W:6 L:2 v Lions
W:1 L:6 D:1 Don't think the Lions can beat the Waratahs at home.
W:4 L:4 v Sharks
W:7 L:0 D:1 Brumbies may be at home, but I think the Sharks are a class above them.
W:2 L:7 v Highlanders
W:1 L:7 Higlanders have a better points ratio than the Bulls and I have no idea who has the better team. I'm on the fence on this one.
W:4 L:4 v Hurricanes
W:5 L:2 D:1 Another pretty even game, but I think the Hurricanes will be able to pull this off.

W:1 L:6 v Sharks
W:6 L:0 D:1 Highlanders had a win over the Lions last weekend and the Sharks had a surprising draw with the Hurricanes. I think the Sharks are too strong for the Highlanders this year and they should pull this off.
W:7 L:0 v Lions
W:1 L:5 D:1 Crusaders even with both first fives (think QB = gamemaker) injured should be too strong for the hapless Lions.
W:5 L:3 v Brumbies
W:3 L:4 The Blues should win this game, but they had a shocker last week against the Waratahs. I'll pick the Blues, but I think it will be a close game.
W:5 L:3 v Waratahs
W:5 L:2 Both teams are capable, but I have really liked the Force this year and I think they will manage to pull it off at home.
W:3 L:4 v Cheetahs
W:1 L:7 I don't think the Cheetahs will manage to get up against the Stormers at home.
W:2 L:6 v Hurricanes
W:4 L:2 Even after the trip to South Africa I think the Hurricanes are capable, but the Bulls were finalists last year, so they could surprise. I'm going to go with the Hurricanes.

for the night is:
clean off the grease is Becky
is usmgrad, and in answer to your questions - travel can be a factor, but because there is no draft in Super 14 some teams manage to attract far more talented players than others. Things should even out for the middle range teams over the next 3 or 4 weeks. Top and bottom may not change much. You also need to keep in mind, that some of these are losses are by 1 to 3 points, which isn't much in the grand scheme of things.

Super Fourteen Week Eight Draw -- Katiegirl, 23:01:53 04/02/08 Wed [5]
W:0 L:6 v Lions
W:1 L:4 D:1 Two of the bottom teams on the table. I think I would have to put my money on the Lions. Even at home the Highlanders are not playing well this season.
W:3 L:3 v Chiefs
W:4 L:3 I like the Chiefs and I think they have done well this season, but unfortunately I don't think they will beat the Brumbies at home.
W:4 L:3 v Bulls
W:2 L:5 Western Force at home are strong and with the run they have been having I would expect them to win this game.
W:4 L:2 v Sharks
W:6 L:0 As much as I would love to see the Hurricanes win, I don't think it will happen. The Sharks haven't lost a game yet and I don't think they will break that record.
W:4 L:2 v Blues
W:5 L:2 I think the Blues are the stronger team, but at home the Waratahs are capable. I don't know which way this one will go, so I am going to make it the tie breaker for the week.
W:0 L:7 v Reds
W:2 L:4 There is a first time for everything and I think this week that the Cheetahs will manage to get up and win. (But what do I know - I've been wrong so often this season).

Super Fourteen Draw Week Seven
v Crusaders
although I would like to see the Hurricanes win, I don't think it will happen. They are capable, but the Crusaders are still unbeaten this season.
v Cheetahs
The Waratahs were beaten convincingly by the Crusaders last week, but the Cheetahs came close against the Brumbies. The Waratahs are a better team that I what I have seen in the past couple of weeks. So this could be anybodys game. This will be the tie breaker for the week.
v Stormers
I think the Force will be too strong at home. They pulled off a big win over the Blues last week and will be feeling confident.
v Highlanders
The hapless Highlanders have not done well this season so far and I don't think they can pull off a win against the Chiefs at home.
v Bulls
This will be a good game. The Blues will want to come back from last weeks loss to the Force and the Bulls will be wanting to put their horror game against the Chiefs behind them. I think the Blues have too much talent and will be able to pull this one off.
v Reds
I think the Sharks will be too strong at home for the Reds.

Super Fourteen Draw Week Six -- Katiegirl, 23:15:01 03/17/08 Mon [6]
v Waratahs
Crusaders are at home again this week and with the 5 wins in a row should be hard to beat. The Waratahs on the other hand have a 3 to 1 record and have been patchy.
v Cheetahs
. The Brumbies are at home this week and are usually strong there, but they can be beaten, although, probably not by the bottom of the table Cheetahs. Brumbies: Won 2 Lost 3, Cheetahs have had a 5 game losing streak.
v Force
Highlanders are at their alternative home ground and the Force have just come off a win over the Blues. I think the Force could pull this game off. Highlanders have a 4 game losing streak and are coming of the bye last week. Force: Won 3 Lost 2
v Stormers
The Blues are coming of a loss last week and the Stormers off a strong win over the Chiefs. Blues: Won 3 Lost 2. Stormers: Won 2 Lost 3.
v Bulls
I may have the opportunity to go watch this game, so I will be supporting the Chiefs. Having said that, after their loss to the Stormers last week this is not a given. Especially as the Bulls were one of the Finalists last year. Chiefs: Won 2 Lost 3, Bulls: Won 2 Lost 3. Chiefs have a better points differential though with more points for and less against. This will be the tie breaker for the week.
v Reds
The Lions are at home, and the Reds have had to travel from Australia to South Africa. Lions have only won 1 game so far this season and the Reds have won 2. I would like to see the Lions do it, but I think the Reds will pull it off.

Super Fourteen Week Five Draw -- Katiegirl, 00:19:49 03/11/08 Tue [7]
v Stormers
Both these teams had wins last week, but the Stormers were the more convincing of the two. The question is will they be affected by travel from Australia to NZ. I like the Chiefs at home, but I think the Stormers can pull this one off. This will be the tie breaker game for this week.
v Hurricanes
Two of my favourite teams in this competition, but, the Hurricanes have lost one of their playmakers to one weeks suspension while the Brumbies are fielding a fully fit side. I would like to see the Hurricanes win, but I think the Brumbies will do it at home.
v Force
This is the alternate ground for the Blues, and they are needing to make up for their loss last week. The Force have had a couple of surprising results this season, and lets not forget that both teams have international coaches. I think the Blues will pull this one off.
v Cheetahs
Crusaders at home, only unbeaten team in the competition. This is a no brainer.
v Bulls
Reds are coming off a big loss last week, and the Bulls an equally big win. I haven't really been too impressed with the way the Reds have played so far this season and even with home ground advantage I don't know if they are up to it. I am personally going for the Bulls in this one.
v Sharks
Lions might be at home, but the Sharks are just too good a team. I think they will romp home.

Super Fourteen Draw, Week Four -- Katiegirl, 00:45:14 03/05/08 Wed [8]
v Hurricanes
The Highlanders are coming of two losses over the past two weeks, both have been close games, but the Hurricanes are coming off a 20 point win over the weekend. Can they do it again, but away from home?
v Brumbies
Both teams are coming off wins last week, but the margins were hugely different, with the Waratahs winning by 3 and the Brumbies romping home by 32 points. Waratahs have home ground advantage, but I think the Brumbies will be too strong for them.
v Lions
Both these teams are coming off big losses from two weeks ago and smaller ones from this last week, although the Lions stayed closer losing by only 2 points, while the Bulls lost by 14. This is anyones game and will be the tiebreaker for this week.
v Cheetahs
Chiefs are at home this week where they are always strong. The Cheetahs have had to travel from South Africa to NZ. Both teams are coming of large losses last week and will be looking to make amends. I think the Chiefs at home will be hard to beat.
v Stormers
Another two teams that are coming off large losses last weekend. The Stormers failing to even score a point, while the Reds were at the wrong end of a 43 to 11 scoreline. The Reds are at home, and the Stormers have had to travel from South Africa to Australia. I think this is another game where the home team will hold the advantage.
v Blues
Blues have had very happy hunting in South Africa and I can't see this game being any different, although the Sharks showed some sound skills last week with a 14 point win over the Bulls. I guess Blue really is the best colour!!!!!
v Crusaders
The Force are at home, but both teams have travelled to Australia from South Africa. That being said, the Crusaders along with the Blues are looking to be the team to beat in the competition, so they get my vote.
