It's time for the WORLD SERIES -- the rookie, 19:50:13 10/24/10 Sun [16]
In the midst of football Harm has been quietly watching the playoffs in baseball. The National League and American League teams have been decided. Now Harm wants you to pick who's going to win!

The World Series begins Wednesday between

the Texas Rangers (here we have Harm riding high on his horse, just like a Texas Ranger!)

and the San Francisco Giants, (this picture needs no explanation)

The World Series is a best of seven game series, so you need to not only pick the winner but also how many games it will take them to win it all. In a best of seven series the winner could come on game 4 or 5 or 6 or 7.

Harm's made his pick (Mac said he used his lucky coin), now it's our turn. Who do you think will win the World Series, the Rangers or the Giants? And how many games will it take?

I have it on good authority there will be a "prize" for the winner and all the runners up.

Post your pick before the first game begins on Wednesday. Winners will be announced as soon as the series is over.

Oakland Raiders (2-4) @ Denver Broncos (2-4) This game might not look very important, but Harm says the winner of this game could be tied for first in the AFC West

Minnesota Vikings (2-3) @ Green Bay Packers (3-3) Brett Farve is returning to his old stomping grounds in Green Bay. Harm's wondering if Brett will be victorious or wish he had retired (again)!

And Harm's last pick this week is the Monday night game, NY Giants (4-2) @ Dallas Cowboys (1-4) Harm's wondering what's happened to the Cowboys, maybe some Monday night magical will finally give the Cowboys another win.

Well, the baseball season has sadly come to an end in PIttsburgh this year... -- Martian Barb...most people think that I live for Steelers, but I don't. I watch them when I can., 18:09:23 10/03/10 Sun [1]
With a 57-105 record, the Pirates have finished last for the 18th year in a row. the last winning season that I can remember was in 1992. Finishing last in the MLB gives the Buccos the first pick in the draft. Not that they know what to do with the first pick, but they have it. We have some great young players, but you can't have a winning team based on just five players. The news around here is that the manager is out...thank goodness. Hopefully, his coaches will be replaced. We here in the city hope for a new owner. A while ago, there was talk of Mario Lemieux buying the team. That would have been a wonderful deal, but it did not materialize.

So, congratulations to the teams who are going to the play offs next week. Baseball still is and will always be my favorite sport and the Pirates will always be my all time favorite team. Now, on to hockey, my second love.

Seattle Seahawks @ St. Louis Rams Harm says last week Seattle didn't beat the Chargers, the Chargers beat the Chargers with mistakes and penalties. Still the Hawks are 2 and 1. The Rams are 1 and 2 but have an exciting new qb in Sam Bradford.

Denver Broncos @ Tennessee Titans The Titans have won two games, but Harm wonders if the off line can protect Young, Furthermore, why does Young, one of the most mobile qbs in the NFL, needs protection.

Chicago Bears @ New York Giants Harm wonders if da Bears are for real and are the Giants as bad as they are playing.

Baltimore Ravens @ Pittsburgh Steelers Harm says the Steelers are doing well BenLess. Can they go 5 and 0?

Football Picks - Week 3! -- Araninda, with help from Cece, 18:41:18 09/24/10 Fri [19]
Judi went cruisin' and left Cece in charge of the football pool. Cece is a great soccer fan, but not so good at American football. So, I'm the second-string quarterback for this week's picks, which are:

San Francisco 49ers v. Kansas City Chiefs.

Are the Chiefs for real? Will they stay undefeated? Meanwhile, the 49ers nearly knocked off the World Champs Saints last week. Do they have the stuff to win this week?

Dallas Cowboys v. Houston Texans

It is a tough year already (and only two games into the season) for the Cowboys, while the Texans are riding high. But this is a fight among the Texas NFL teams, so it should be interesting. Can Romo and the Cowboys get their offense together? Or will the Texans win the Lone Star State bragging rights?

Miami Dolphins v. New York Jets

Miami is undefeated. Are they for real? But Sanchez and the Jets will be ready. This is a divisional rivalry between two teams who really, really dislike each other. It could get ugly. Who will prevail?

Atlanta Falcons v. New Orleans Saints

The Saints are continuing their "marchin' in" to defend their unbelievable World Championship of last year. At 2-0, are they truly a dynasty in the making or will the Falcons be ready to knock them off the pedestal?

I know it's only pre-season, but the Penguins are back and in their new home! The Consol Energy Center opens for hockey tonight. It's such a beautiful place.
