Football Picks Week Seven -- judi and Harm, 19:37:06 10/22/09 Thu [21]
Harm was happy Mac did better then last week, but Mac wasn't happy. She couldn't even win her own husband for a night. But she wasn't going to let a silly thing like a football pool keep her from her husband, so Harm is really tired so he apoligizes if his advice is less then lucid.

Game One:Atlanta Falcons @ Dallas Cowboys
Harm says that the Falcons/Bears game last week was one of the best this year so the Falcons are riding hight but they are at Tony Romo's Cowboys. Harm wonders which Tony will show up.

Game Two: Chicago Bears @ Cincinnatti Bengals
Da Bears lost last week but so did the Bengals. Harm says these are two good teams, not great but evenly matched.

Game Three: Minnesota Vikings @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Brett is on a roll with. The Vikings are 6 and 0. The Superbowl champs are 4 and 2. Harm is excited about another old guy going back to doing the thing he loves the most, but Pitt is still the superbowl champs.

Game Four: San Francisco Forty Niners @ Houston Texans
The Niners got trounced by the Pats. 59-0. Harm doesn't think a team should run up the score but they did and now the trouncees (3, 2) are playing the 3 and 3 Texans. Harm thinks the Niners will be really mad.

Harm is rested and ready to go after getting a bye week. Actually, he's not all that rested since Mac wouldn't let him out of the bedroom. She was tired of only getting his . .

Game One:Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Harm says this is the battle of two pretty bad teams so it should be close - maybe.

Game Two: Baltimore Ravens @ Minnesota Vikings
Harm said some picked the Ravens to go to the Superbowl, but how exciting is Bret Farvre who even catches his own pass. He can do anything!

Game Three: Arizona Cardinals @ Seattle Seahawks
Harm says the Cardinals are a disappointment after being in the Superbowl last year. The Hawks showed life with Hassleback at the helm but is this enough?

Game Four: Chicago Bears @ Atlanta Falcons
Both teams are 3 and 1 and Harm thinks this should be a good game.

Week Five -- usmgrad, rest up Judi (looks like our bye week came at the right time!), 14:31:16 10/11/09 Sun [2]
Since 1990 when the NFL season was expanded to 17 weeks, there has been a bye week for every team. Bye weeks occur sometime between week 4 and week 10 and are designated as a non-game week for the team in question. It allows each team the opportunity to rest, recover from injuries, and reassess strategy for the rest for the season.

This is The Harmon Globetrotters bye week, but here we have an added reason for the bye. Yes, we might reevaluate our individual strategies. And yes we might need to recover from any �injuries� that may have occurred during the previous weeks (winnings). But our bye week also means -

Harm has time to recover from the ramifications of weeks 1-4.

Face it ladies, in just four weeks he�s been kissed, had his tool handed to him, been nibbled on, rubbed down, had his kitty stroked and had his balls played with (get your mind out of the gutter). And if that wasn�t enough he�s had to recover from whatever it was that Doc, dg, Lee, tamk3, Katiegirl, kleigh, Angela and Barb did on their night with him. Not to mention he still had to go home every night to Mac, whom I have it on good authority is not happy with the way this season is progressing.

So rest up girls, reassess your picking strategies and tend to your �Harmy� injuries. Oh and Harm just so you know, there are 12 more weeks in the season and then the post season begins!

Not ones to stand out in a crowd, are Carrotts, HarmMacLove, JAGJunkie, Jen, Lee, MAC, and usmgrad with TWO correct. You get to join Harm's cycling team, and rub him down afterwards.

With only ONE correct, Araninda, Katiegirl, rmhlrkr, and tamk3. As you need the practice, y'all get to play with Harm's balls. (Oh keep your minds out of the gutter!)

Harm is hoping Mac does better this week. His six is really tired. He wouldn't go into the details though, but suffice it to say, she wan't happy with coming out on the bottom of the pool.

Game One:Indianapolis Colts @ Arizona Cardinals
Harm says the Colts/Fins game Monday night was very exciting. But they have to play again 6 days later. Will they be able to defeat the Cards in the desert?

Game Two: Jacksonville Jaquars @ Houston Texans
The Jags are 0 and 2 but Harm is a big fan of David Garrard and I'm a fan of the coach, former Cowboy, Jack del Rio, but then there is Houston who is looking pretty good.

Game Three: Tennessee Titans @ New York Jets
The Jets beat the Pats who all the critics just love so are they the real deal this year or will the Titans win their first game this week.

Game Four: Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders
Harm says the Raiders are playing better then expected and the Broncos have had an easy schedule, so this can be a close game.

I had my picture taken with Rocky Bleier! I helped my husband take pictures at a Celebrity Clay shoot to benefit our local Boy Scout Council. It is a yearly benefit run by the NFL Alumni Association.

Anyway, I went to print the pictures for the different teams. As a bonus, I took along a football to get signatures. Not for me, but to auction off at a spaghetti dinner for my friend's grandson with cancer. I was so nervous asking Rocky for the signature, but when I told him the story, he was so gracious and told me to get some other signatures and tell them the story. After that, my husband took my picture with Rocky Bleier. He had his arm around me. I also obtained signatures from Matt Bahr, Jon Kolb, Louis Lipps, and Marv Kellum....all '70's Steelers, all Super Bowl heros. The day was so amazing. There were so many more "old" Steelers there. Unfortunately, no Terry Bradshaw or Franco Harris. But it certainly was one of the highlights of this year. Just had to share this.

Harm says after the Cards were upset by the Niners that Warner & co will not let that happn this week. The Jags lost to Indy but that wasn't a suprise. Still Harm says that this might be Garrard's year.

This a division rivalry. Harm likes the Hawks if they play like they did in the second half last week, but the Niners might suprise.

The first week of football is in the books. Harm said some of the teams looked like they needed more pre-season games. The first half of the Seahawks and Rams was some of the ugliest football he ever saw. I was happy Seattle finally woke up and started playing well. And what was with the Pack and da Bears? Harm said it was soooo ugly that (insert joke here). Harm didn't want me to post what he really said.

But on to the winners. We have only one got all the games right: this week and it's our avorite SteelerFan: TA DA!!! Martian Barb!!!! You get to spend the night with !!!

It's finally football season!!!! YEA!!! I've come out of the sports abyss and am ready to play and so is Harm. Since it's the first week, we can only speculate on who will be great, so Harm decided to pick games where there is a question about one of the teams. So here goes:

Game One:Minnesota Vikings @ Cleveland Browns
Harm is curious about the FarvreEffect. Brett Farvre decided to come out of retirement yet again and this time play for Green Bay's biggest rival, the Vikings. So how will they do against the Brownies who are starting Brady Quinn?

Game Two: Philadelphia Eagles @ Carolina Panthers
Harm says the Eagles have a huge distraction in the name of Michael Vick. They're supposed to be very good this year but what effect will Vick have on the lockerroom?

Game Three: Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers
Da Bears finally has a new quarterback: Jay Cutler. He was the franchise qb for the Broncos, but he got pissed when the Broncos were looking at getting Matt Cassel from the Pats (KC actually got Cassel). So they traded him. So Harm wonders how will he do as a Bear against division rival Green Bay?

Game Four: Denver Broncos @ Cincinnati Bengals
So the Broncos don't have Cutler or Cassel. They have an injured Kyle Orton who will play on Sunday. Oy such tsouris says Harm. Ok maybe he didn't say it exactly that way but I guess we'll get to see what the Broncs are made of..

So it's your turn to pick the winner out of these four games. Eveyone wins Harm in some form. This year, it appears that Mac is playing too. Sorry state when she has to win a football pool to spend a night with her hubby. LOL

Well, the year started out great. The Steelers won their 7th Super Bowl, then in June, the Penguins won their thrid Stanley Cup. Now the end of the baseball season is rapidly approaching and we all here in the 'Burgh had hoped that the Pirates would finish with a .500 season. BUT, here we find that the Pittsburgh Pirates have set a new MLB record....17 straight losing seasons. Not a record we want.

It's so hard to believe, after totally dismantling a team in mid season, that there are fans who continue to go to the games. My husband and I have belonged toa co-op for season tickets for the past 5 years. We will NOT get the tickets for next season. It's just way too much money to waste for basicallly a minor league team any more. I have been a Pirate fan since I was a child and supported the team through some of their darkest times because they were our hometown team. the current management and owners do not care about anything but keeping the costs down. I just can't agree with that type of baseball anymore. We want a winning team.

When I want to see a minor league team, I'll go to see the Washington (PA) Wild Things of the Butler Blue Sox.
