Rugby Week Two Results -- Katiegirl, 03:32:41 03/05/12 Mon [5]

Rugby Picks Week Two -- Katiegirl, 14:36:19 02/28/12 Tue [8]
The Rebels. They come in off the Bye last week and so have watched all the other teams play to give them some idea of what they're facing. This will be their first game of the season. They are without their captain and their other high signing for the season. vs
The NSW Waratahs. This team took defeat from the jaws of victory last week by letting the Reds in to score on the full time whistle. Will they learn their lesson, or will they make the same mistake again?
The Otago Highlanders. With a surprise upset last week against the Chiefs this team must be feeling good about themselves. But, one of their feeder unions (The Otago Rugby Union) has just announced that it will be going into liquidation. This is where a lot of the players come from. Can they keep it from effecting their game, or will they use it to drive them even harder? vs
The Canterbury Crusaders. The powerhouse team of Super Rugby over the past couple of years. They only won by one point against the Blues last week. They did make the most of a last minute opportunity given to them by the other team and if they keep doing that surely they are a team to be reckoned with.
The Cheetahs lost at the last minute to the Lions last week it what came down to a 2 point game. They played extremely well and are more then capable of winning this game. Hopefully home ground advantage will help. vs
The Bulls who were at the bottom of the table last year, but did win convincingly last week. Will they be as good away from home?
The Waikato Chiefs who are coming off a narrow loss last week and suffered a few injuries. They are playing at home again though, so will this cancel out the injuries? vs
The Auckland Blues who lost by one point to the Crusaders last week. They will be out to redeem themselves.
The Stormers beat the Hurricanes convincingly last week and look like they will do well this season. They have another home game this week which should help as well. vs
The Sharks lost to the Bulls last week, but there was only a try in it. They are able to do well, not sure if they will against the Stormers though.

Rugby Picks Week One -- Katiegirl, 23:13:48 02/21/12 Tue [7]
Blues vs
Crusaders. The Blues have a lot of new blood and the Crusaders have just seen the memorial for one year on from the devastating earthquake. My pick would be the Crusaders, but the Blues might just surprise.
Brumbies vs
Western Force. I would like the Brumbies to win because they come from the place I was born. The Western Force were underwhelming last year, but the Brumbies didn't live up to what they were capable of either. Anyone's game.
Bulls vs
Sharks. Both these teams run pretty close. I would be hard pushed to pick a winner.
Waratahs vs
Reds. Reds should be considered favourites for this game, they were the runners up in last years competition, but the Waratahs have some big name players and could easily upset.
Stormers vs
Hurricanes. The Hurricanes are the only team this round to have travelled to another country. Here's hoping the flight from NZ to South Africa was early enough in the week for them not to suffer to badly from jet lag. I would love to see the Hurricanes win (they're my team), but again the Stormers are quite capable of pulling something out of the bag.
Rugby Season -- Katiegirl, 14:41:18 02/19/12 Sun [1]
The Auckland Blues. Based in Auckland City, this team has some powerhouse players, but has failed to live up to expectations in previous years.
The Waikato Chiefs. Based in Hamilton, they always get close, but just never close enough. Keep an eye on them.
The Wellington Hurricanes. Based in the National Capital, they, like the Chiefs always get close, but just don't quite make it. There was a big shake up in the team at the end of last year, so hopefully good things will happen.
The Canterbury Crusaders. Based in Christchurch, every game they played last year was technically away as their home ground was ravaged by earthquake. Even with this they made it to the finals. They are always a team to be reckoned with.
The Otago Highlanders. Based in Dunedin, the farthest south of the NZ Teams, they are the perennial underdogs. They always look good on paper but have failed to live up to expectations over the past few years.
The Queensland Reds. Based in Brisbane, this is one of the Australian powerhouse teams. Winners of last years Super 15. Can they do it again?
The NSW Waratahs. Based in Sydney. This is a team full of International players. Even with that, they struggle. Will they pull it together this year?
The ACT Brumbies. Based in Canberra (The Nations Capital). This teams is one to be reckoned with. They have won this tournament in the past and are always consistent.
The Melbourne Rebels. Newcomers to the scene, based in Melbourne. They have only been around for a year or so and are still finding their feet. Let's see if they can make a show this year.
The Western Force. Based in Perth. This team has been up and down since they joined the tournament. They show moments of brilliance, but not often enough.
The Bulls. Based in Pretoria. This team finished at the bottom of the table last year. Can they do better this year?
The Cheetahs. Based in Bloemfontien. This team finished at 11 in the competition and have struggled over the past couple of years. Let's see if they can pick it up.
The Lions. Based in Johannesburg, another team at the bottom of the table. They need to pick it up if they want to do better this year.
The Sharks. Based in Durban. This team finished in the top ten last year and have won the tournament in the past. Can they do it again?

Picks for the final week of the regular season
-- Harm and the rookie, 14:59:44 12/29/11 Thu [14]
against the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-11)
. Neither team is headed to the playoffs, however the game is not trivial as both teams are looking to end the year on a high note.
facing the Houston Texans (10-5)
. Houston is in the playoffs, but Tennessee needs to not only win to get in but needs help from other teams as well. A long shot, but then on an given Sunday!
meeting the Arizona Cardinals (7-8)
. Both teams had hoped this game would be for a wild card slot, however you know what they say about "hopes and wishes". No playoff game for either team but the winner will be second in the NFC West.
taking on the Oakland Raiders (8-7)
. San Diego is already looking toward next year, however the Raiders need to win if they want to play next week. But a win won't be all they need, they also need a little help from their "friends".
facing the New York Giants (8-7)
. On Sunday night, this is THE game of the week. It's simple winner goes to the playoffs as the NFC East champion and the loser goes home.
